  1. Couple years go I was hunting a busy park. A young man came up to me in a bit of distress...he was with big party and they had one of those huge blow up jumpy's for the kids...said he lost his gold chain with a pendant that had his mothers ashes..he had been all over the park and inside the jumpy as well but try as I could I could not locate it for him...felt bad for him and I'm thinking he must have lost it while jumping up and down....the company had already removed the huge blow up jumpy. Got his number and went back several times but no luck. strick
  2. They are easy to make..I've used to clean up large iron...I would never use on coin..ask how I know strick
  3. No laughing here.. still got the CTX probably for the same reasons you have your old compadre. Although I don't use it that often I keep it because its proven and a good back up..Manufacturers come out with new detectors due to advances in technology mostly.....you can call it "hype" or what ever you like.... maybe it's possible there really are advancements made in technology that produce a faster and deeper machine...I noticed this early on with the M-Core...ask yourself was the Nox 800 all hype? is the Deus 2 better then the Deus 1 or was it all hype? I do tend to place some trust in the engineers and keep a somewhat positive out look...take a look at the gold machine's for example. If you have used any of those then you know what I'm talking about... While I wont speak for "most guys" I do agree detectors are expensive and people should just buy what they can afford and go out and have fun..have you noticed that there seems to be a price cap that some people will place on a detector purchase? These same people have over a dozen different detectors..... they will buy any detector that fits their "price cap" and then have the gall to bash the $1600 detector because it's out of their personal selected maximum spending cap and then they go out and buy expensive carbon fiber shafts and other accessories....good discussion... I considered the 900 but have since held off but having sold the 800's here I sit with nice 10x5 coil all dressed up with no place to go.. strick
  4. Yes I am in some agreement with you in that it seems the Nox was easier... In the photos above that Jeff posted the targets from 10-17 he mentions then the corresponding targets from 20-34 on the 900..does it separate the gold from pull tabs better? maybe round 32-34 but then there are gold rings that fit in that bracket as well that re not pictured........do you dig every target on the beach...most of the time? I've never detected Mexico beaches just curious. strick
  5. Do you own M Core? Which cheaper machines perform the "same" in your experience? Inquiring minds want to know? πŸ™‚ strick
  6. Park hunting and beach hunting are two different worlds entirely. The trash never goes away at the park...it's not subject to winds, tides or the actions of the surf...therefore having the expanded ID range can allow one to make a better "guess" before the dig...note I say "guess" I love park hunting for gold jewelry but it is a tedious and difficult process of constantly bending down on your knees and digging out a target in the turf... then theres Beach hunting πŸ™‚ strick
  7. So this is a photo of your coil without the skid plate? strick
  8. My iPad or should I say my wife’s old iPad is now working properly as well for some reason whatever the fix was I’m happy. I usually post on my desktop and was just using the old iPad for browsing but I’m glad it’s all figured out now. Strick
  9. I'm glad you have joined club because your best bet to find gold is to meet people that can teach you how to find gold. Good luck and we hope to see some photos of your adventures. strick
  10. There is something wrong with your Garrett the battery should not drain like that. Send it back and I'll bet they will take care of it. I've had my share of problems with the carrot had one that the light would stay on even when you turn it off so like Jeff I would just reverse the battery after a hunt...I need to look into the Quest sounds good. strick
  11. Nice hunt...I'll bet you cant wait for the small coil..will we ever get the small coil? To the left of that lock...thats what I like πŸ˜„ Is it some kinda pin? strick
  12. Nice find...those are hard targets...never found crown but have found 3 grills...this one is my favorite. strick
  13. I'll vote camp lead. I usually take some nippers to pieces like that on the edge..if its soft when you cut it then probably lead. strick
  14. Same thing happens on the Meteorite forum..one post and then poof gone..guess they don't like the answers..even though I know very little about Geology gems and minerals I sometimes come here to look and maybe learn something. strick
  15. Good work Jeff...Those broken pull tabs I'm always hopeful that it's a possible gold ring... On the pull tabs We have all dug out share of them...at one point I was saving just for fun...but that got old quick πŸ˜„ strick
  16. The only time I use tracking is in a place where I cant get a good auto GB that last more then 5 minutes..usually that is at a beach with lots of black sand or in highly mineralized ground. For most of my park hunting I'll stay in Auto GB and stay away from tracking. I don't usually do a manual GB but should give it a try. strick
  17. No surprise here....The M-Core is a nickel vacuum. They bangs loud and clear usually around 27 as noted above. It hits em shallow and deep equally. Much better then the Nox 800 ever was and the CTX as well. The M-Core seems to be tuned very well for US coins. strick
  18. Yea I just threw that out there as I remembered the discussion...kinda makes sense as the M-Core has more power then the Nox so who knows. I don't do much wading due to our west coast ocean swells but I'm not afraid to get my toes wet once in a while when feeling adventurous πŸ˜„ strick
  19. I think what he was doing was digging real deep stuff on purpose. I'd be willing to bet that most of the trash/iron was well beyond the discrimination capabilities of most vlf's and just gave a iron false type signal. Beach guys will often dig everything in hopes of deep gold or silver turning into real signal as they get closer to it. Being the good samaritan that Hardnox is he figured out what he had once he got close enough to it but instead of just leaving the in the ground he removed from the beach. Just speculating lol. I'll be in Pismo in less then 10 days and the Manti will be first at bat but if the targets are sparse then out comes the TDI pro with clean sweep coil πŸ™‚ strick
  20. Nice work Ghost...I've not been out in while and you have given me the bug so maybe later this week. As your photos show if you're not digging lots of junk you're not likely to find much gold. The sound of the tones as well as the numbers a target emits on a machine in the real world can mean nothing. Target orientation, ground mineralization, proximity to trash, how well you have tuned your machine etc can make any good target sound like crap. In the end it's really a numbers game the more you dig non ferrous the more likely you are to find good stuff. How many gold chains have we passed up because the numbers are too low...how many large gold rings did we pass up because we thought it was a zinc penny? Anyone who thinks they can hear what gold or silver sounds like is just fooling themselves. Once I met guy on the beach we were both swinging CTX's and he told me that every 12-09 he dug was gold..I don't think he hunted parks very much. Can we find good stuff by just listening and digging for sweet sounds or just digging solid ID targets? Yep we sure can and all those targets we passed up because they didn't sound right or the numbers were jumping round were just junk anyways..we were sure of it πŸ™‚ Nice ring BTW... me likes the Opal πŸ‘ strick
  21. It's happening on my Ipad but not on my apple desk top both use safari..thought it was something on my end that I may have did. The post area on the Ipad is just a little thin box you cant open up... strick
  22. Watching his video is it safe to assume they all come with a free baseball cap ? asking for a friend... strick
