  1. Which flir camera do you have? I used to have a t360 used it in my practice handy little tool but I found its use limited for what I do and eventually sold it...The battery is in that grip and I don't know if it generates much heat..but your hand certainly will so lets experiment....turn on the machine set it down and walk away for 15-20 min and then re take the same pic and show us what you found...I'm sure some of that heat is from the electronics as you can see it travels up into the pod...thanks for posting something different ! strick
  2. The only things I’ll hook up to voltage are iron objects...if your just talking about doing it with out voltage then you may be ok but I’d keep a close eye on it...I ruined a nice Barber Half when I first was experimenting with electrolysis... strick
  3. Get better Capt so you can get back out there... strick
  4. If I were hunting specifically for a small a gold coin in a sea of nails then the 9" Deus 2...if I were hunting for a small gold ring in a sea of bottle caps the 5x8" M-Core.....that being said if you see me with the M-core 5x8" at that one spot it's because "Im trying something different" lol. I'm no expert with the deus 2 or the M-Core by any means and I've only been on one hunt with the 5x8" ! but I do have a general idea about what works (disclaimer: for me 😊) in different environments... Gotta have more then two detectors 🙂 strick
  5. Exactly. For me it's not really this coil vs that coil...it's more like this machine vs that machine. The iron audio and speed of the D2 is hard to beat for relic hunting in the nails...not to take away from the M-core's speed it moves fast enough...but the target trace on the M-Core is great for parks which are loaded with bottle caps. I don't dig beer caps with M-Core... it's similar to the the CTX...you can disk out the beer caps and still hit small pieces of non ferrous without fear of missing gold. Both have their own place...each for a specific scenario. strick
  6. I took a small hydration pack and riveted it to the minelab harness...I don’t like water bladders so just put water bottle inside..has room for snacks pin pointer and other stuff. The xp deus pack is a great pack if looking for something a little bigger. Strick
  7. Good stuff Ray...I've been following some of juniors exploits on FB... glad to see you getting out some bud...keep posting strick
  8. I didn't even look it’s so rusty. The dark ring has no markings. I’d like to get out again soon thanks 350.
  9. Man I haven't posted a hunt in a long time...been doing lots of projects and just haven't been going out at all. I was able to secure a M8 coil the other day and that amped me up to go out and see how it performed. This morning I hunted two different basket ball courts in two different parks. It was raining and hardly anyone was out... I got wet and muddy but I had a good hunt and I'm happy about the M8 coil it performs really well. The gold ring is 10k and rang up a solid 31 which is where some pull tabs tid...so dig those tabs! I was hunting in all terrain general sensitivity below 20 most of the time , all tones 5 bin. with disk on most of the time...nice easy digging and back home by 11AM strick
  10. This and what 350 said "Just get out there" ... this can be the hardest part if you have a demanding job. Will you be able to drop everything and grab your detector when the conditions are right at the beach... Are you willing to sacrifice money that could have been made at work if you are self employed? my boss can be a real prick sometimes when it comes to giving me time off... detecting has long been considered a hobby for old retired grey hair guys lol wait too long and you may be too old to bend over and pick up a target...it's been one of the best hobbies I've ever taken up.. strick
  11. Thanks for the quick response. The dealer I talked with mentioned running at 17 sensitivity and digging dimes at 10 inches...i usually don’t go below 5 recovery speed anyways get plenty of depth with that ....thanks Andrew....maybe I’ll give it a try. Strick
  12. Quick post before I head off to work...is there a verdict on doing the Manticore version 2 up date? I've finally got hold of the smaller coil and i have some places I want to try it out on... I remember Andrew @abenson having some trouble with the up date and I have been reluctant to try it. The guy I bought the coil from is a dealer and frequently uses his M-Core and stated that he thought the Up date was a good thing... so If you did the up date what are your thoughts? strick
  13. Crazy I did not know that Garrett does not supply the coil bolt and washers with their new coils if you order just the coil nor do they supply a coil cover if I’m reading all this right.. haven’t bought a Garrett detector in a long time...just the pin pointers thanks for the heads up. Strick
  14. For small cost items items they have most likely have a minimum transaction fee. It would not be worth their time to have someone processing $5.00 transactions all day long. Consider how many people loose those little nuts and bolts and how many calls they get on them...so charging 33 bucks is how they can make it worth their while...Im my business I have people calling me all the time for little things 7 days a week so I charge accordingly..they can pay and continue to call or not..its their decision.... and truthfully it is still not worth it to me but I do it as a service to my customers... this is just customer service stuff Now here is how you get ripped off by a business.....you go into a restaurant that makes burritos place an order to go and then wonder why it costs so much...checking the receipt you see that they charged you $5.00 for a 16 ounce soda...fool me once lol strick
  15. Thats cool they made it into an app been using the on line version on the desk top for a while...it's great for gold prospecting...do all your scouting while sitting at home in your comfortable chair...too bad the old timers didn't have this stuff but then again there would not be much to look at when you think about it. lol strick
  16. Nice write up. Are you using version 1 or 2? I finally got my hands on a M8 coil yesterday so I'll be trying it out soon....I've not up dated my M-Core as of yet unless someone can convince me otherwise.. strick
  17. Yep sure does...one thing for sure is that Doc's wont be 3d printed....tanks for pointing that out as some would not notice this. disclaimer...I've never tried a "hip stick" and never will 🙂 strick
  18. it does seem to be the fastest of all of them in Iron....be nice to have a smaller coil then XP would have all the bases covered for relic hunters... stick
  19. Yea I'm still in pre order prison but would be happy to escape if I could find one at another dealer......your strategy was a good one! strick
  20. Interesting how much more it likes gold then lead...thanks for posting Simon. This is good stuff. strick
  21. Almost always ran my Nox 800 between 5-7 and still seemed to get good depth in the paces I hunt. One of the good things about having multiple detectors is it gives one hope when you take a different one to the hunted out spot 😁 strick
  22. May have missed it in the video but did you try the pin point over a bare piece of ground and see if it gives you a tid number? Just curious strick
  23. Nice work 350! Spanish every day.. do they need any more horse vets in Virginia? they rip the farm lands here frequently...may bring something up for ya...or bury it deeper lol......good luck buddy strick
  24. My money is on the little one... much better stance and appears to have the bigger one off balance... strick
