Thanks for the quick response. The dealer I talked with mentioned running at 17 sensitivity and digging dimes at 10 inches...i usually don’t go below 5 recovery speed anyways get plenty of depth with that ....thanks Andrew....maybe I’ll give it a try. Strick

Quick post before I head off to work...is there a verdict on doing the Manticore version 2 up date? I've finally got hold of the smaller coil and i have some places I want to try it out on... I remember Andrew @abenson having some trouble with the up date and I have been reluctant to try it. The guy I bought the coil from is a dealer and frequently uses his M-Core and stated that he thought the Up date was a good thing... so If you did the up date what are your thoughts? strick

Crazy I did not know that Garrett does not supply the coil bolt and washers with their new coils if you order just the coil nor do they supply a coil cover if I’m reading all this right.. haven’t bought a Garrett detector in a long time...just the pin pointers thanks for the heads up. Strick

For small cost items items they have most likely have a minimum transaction fee. It would not be worth their time to have someone processing $5.00 transactions all day long. Consider how many people loose those little nuts and bolts and how many calls they get on them...so charging 33 bucks is how they can make it worth their while...Im my business I have people calling me all the time for little things 7 days a week so I charge accordingly..they can pay and continue to call or not..its their decision.... and truthfully it is still not worth it to me but I do it as a service to my customers... this is just customer service stuff Now here is how you get ripped off by a business.....you go into a restaurant that makes burritos place an order to go and then wonder why it costs so much...checking the receipt you see that they charged you $5.00 for a 16 ounce soda...fool me once lol strick

Thats cool they made it into an app been using the on line version on the desk top for a while...it's great for gold prospecting...do all your scouting while sitting at home in your comfortable chair...too bad the old timers didn't have this stuff but then again there would not be much to look at when you think about it. lol strick

Thought I Would Post What Happened Today.
strick replied to Mark Gillespie's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
it does seem to be the fastest of all of them in Iron....be nice to have a smaller coil then XP would have all the bases covered for relic hunters... stick -
Yea I'm still in pre order prison but would be happy to escape if I could find one at another dealer......your strategy was a good one! strick

Almost always ran my Nox 800 between 5-7 and still seemed to get good depth in the paces I hunt. One of the good things about having multiple detectors is it gives one hope when you take a different one to the hunted out spot 😁 strick -
May have missed it in the video but did you try the pin point over a bare piece of ground and see if it gives you a tid number? Just curious strick

Early Field Review Of AlgoForce E1500
strick replied to PhaseTech's topic in AlgoForce Metal Detectors
Because we are off topic.. my biased opinion....The 2300 was my first real PI that found me lots of little gold nuggets.....I found it very stable in all the places I hunted in the Sierras...but I did find it to be sensitive to EMI and was never really able to run it at max sensitivity...It was also my wife's favorite detector to run and I think this was because it was so easy to run..yep the ergonomics kind sucked but you should have seen the looks on my buddies faces when I pulled the 2300 out of my back pack one year on a deer hunting trip in the trinity alps...I didn't get a deer that year but sure had fun prospecting in some remote places...I've had 2 of them and ended up selling both once the 6000 got all sorted out...I'm not doubting what you are saying @Jeff McClendon just saying you must have some really bad ground up there or maybe there was a problem with your machine or EMI? strick -
Your lucky if you only get dust in the coil cover just sayin 🙂 strick

lol....I've hardly been out detecting so I'm not pushing too much...I did finally pre order one a couple weeks ago...but now that I did I wish that I didn't as the place falsely advertised that they expected to have some in by mid Jan and all I've heard since is crickets...so pre ordering can be tricky...some will try to lure you in with a nice big fat worm and see if you bite...no biggie though it comes in when it comes in..... I have other fish to fry rather then detecting right now... strick

Ancient Salmon River Aluminum Nuggets
strick replied to Lost Scout's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Thanks for sharing...back in my younger days we used to hire a bush pilot (out of Challis) to fly us to a bench on the middle fork of the salmon river he'd drop us off for a week while we hunted then fly back and get us. Beautiful place up there lots of memories..thanks for the pics.. strick -
