  1. I was able to confirm last night from an old salty captain that almost every word of this story is true.....nice gold Klunker strick
  2. Rarely ever take my ctx out of ferrous coin...and recovery deep..using “combined mode”...mostly in parks and relic hunting. strick
  3. Nice hunt 350 dont know why but that doodad reminds me of part of a ram rod holder on a flint lock or maybe part of a knife due to the engravings... strick
  4. Yea if Detectorprospector had a wet T shirt contest we all know who would win... strick
  5. Its a great hobby thats for sure..its the only one that actually pays back. I got a late start as you...think I started back in 2014...Gold nuggets were the main focus and then I got into jewelry and relic hunting....Gear crazy lol I know what you mean...I lost count of how many detectors but been lucky to sell some of them and get some good value back..The gold machines are the most expensive so your lucky there are not many nugget places where you live lol...Keep posting Bob we like looking at your finds...I hope to find a Spanish cob some day so yea its inspiring...that gold coin might show up some day... strick
  6. Forgive me if I ramble some...I'm not a big salt water beach hunter due to work and distance to the nearest beaches which are about an hour and a half from me. I've maybe used it 10 times on salt beaches a bunch on fresh water beaches. For the amounts of black sand I've ran into on the salt beaches I've mentioned above the machine does fine. I like to run it in tracking and will depress the tracking button once in a while while pumping the machine up and down and that will quiet it up if it gets too chattery...or if conditions permit run it in Auto GB and re balance every so often..I am paranoid about all my machines being ground balance as best they can be so I do a GB often with what ever I hunt with and where ever I hunt. When I mention the depth compared to my TDI pro there was no formal testing done just an observation I made and these were different sized coils so I hesitate to mention it. It has been mentioned before on this forum that a good VLF will perform every bit as good as a PI on inert ground and the salt water beaches I've hunted have areas that have mixed areas of black sand....more in some places and less in other places so again take what I say with a grain of salt. I have one beach (fresh water with lots of black sand) where the M-Core gives me fits but it is full of trash and you have to use a smaller coil which I do not yet have...when I get that coil I will do much better at that beach. Long story short your gonna love using it at the beach I'm confidant about that... ramble over lol strick
  7. Deep mode in general or low conductor...swear I was pulling coins out almost as deep as my tdi pro...this was at Pismo last Summer. I was using both machines one one day and the other the next... In Santa Cruz last year after the storms I got into a big patch...couple other guys detecting far off were eyeballing for a long time then finally they had to come investigate...at that time nobody else really had a Manticore as there were few out...It is for sure a salt water beach machine in the least of things... strick
  8. Those are some nice finds rvpopeye its great when we can find stuff that we can actually use. BTW thanks for those links as they reminded me that I still have 2 items in my shopping cart that need to be checked out... strick
  9. Nice work as usual Chuck. That ring reminds me of one I found a long time ago clearly plated but stamped 925 under the guilt. I've saved it Because I liked it so much. I have seen it worn by one other woman on the check out stand at Lowe's 🙂 strick
  10. Late to the thred Dutchman PM sent on the 17 inch coil... That NF 12x7 sure is a smooth running coil and does well on small gold but I've found the Coiltek 10x5 to be the better of the two on the smaller stuff...It really surprised me on a heavily hunted patch that had been gone over with the NF 12x7 strick
  11. Nice work 350... the engravings are what make it special...would be cool if you could trace it back to dead person or persons as well as who might have worn it.... strick
  12. Good customer service always wins every time in any business...but it does require lots of work and sometimes compassion...there is always room to improve in this department in just about every business as well...handling difficult clients requires special skill and knowledge...there are times the phone connection can be suddenly lost due to poor cell signal...this allows for a cooling off effect to take place before the next client/business interaction.... strick
  13. Klunker the Pic of your Picks is wrong side up... strick
  14. We lived back east back in my younger days ...(army brat) any ways one evening during a storm lightning struck the tree in our back yard I happened to be looking out the window when it happened a few sparks and a small branch falling off the tree I’m feeling kinda ripped off seeing the picture now lol...I have been told they will explode by people that have seen it in person....we had a good lightning show this past fall up in the high sierras the 4 of us were there huddling under cover observing.... strick
  15. Or really good at photo shopping...I've never heard or seen of a camera that can see inside if trees unless that tree was split down the middle ?...just saying strick
  16. Nice work Denny and it’s good to not look too greedy to the detecting gods so I’m sure you will do well on the next hunt. Strick
  17. This ^^^^ When they ask what's the best thing you ever found thats the answer I give em. However I did have to throw one back to find the keeper... strick
  18. Don't sell it short on finding gold... it is a very capable of finding gold rings and other gold jewelry...yes a ctx in a lighter and faster model would sell well. strick
  19. Does it go away when you turn the sensitivity lower? Sounds like it’s just ground noise either way you could just ignore it and dig what you know are actual targets...beach deep audio is great....but I never heard what I would describe as a button pushing sound...also I like to hunt with my coil cover off on the beach for obvious reasons.. strick
  20. The plow disks also make great cowboy Woks...to whom it may concern....love mine picks are like watches hammers etc...personal preference...my apex picks have held up fine...yes the makers could easily add some new models and that would be great if they did make one with a bug butt for pulling out dirt for those deeper holes. strick
  21. The only reason I'm keep the pro right now is that I have a clean sweep coil that I really like...honestly I dont get to the big salt water beaches all that much...mostly hunt junk infested beaches here around the delta... strick
  22. M-Core on the beach is a no brainer...I found it to hit coins similar in depth to my tdi pro...may get rid of the tdi now..some people are still having problems with it in the dirt...they will figure it out eventually. Lots of adjustments user friendly screen..you get the big coil for it? I here they are trickling out... strick
  23. And here all i thought you did was look for gold nuggets in Idaho and ship wreck finds on the beach in Florida...liking the arrow heads I cant believe I've never found even one yet..thanks for posting. 🙂 strick
