Good to know....I only put a splash in the mix with lots of water and a little soap cleans them up nicely...I have not seen what you are seeing with the CLR maybe your putting in too much?

A 6 inch round would be nice I'd probably get one...12-10 sounds interesting but I don't know if I'd get one as for me the 11" and the standard large coil they (minelab) supposedly have coming out are large enough for what I do.

Looks like part of an old sugar tong to me..some can be very fancy and delicate.

Thumlers Model B, aquarium rock, CLR and some dish soap cleans them up fairly well. Have not deposited any yet but will find out how the machines react to them.

One of the first things I noticed was that old metal detectors were made primarily of metal..some even had metal on top of or near the coil...I also noticed that some of the detectors in that article had the coil on backwards..on purpose I suppose?

Lol early yesterday morning I spent bout 15 minutes trying to find Minelabs presidents e-mail I was gonna give him a nice rant about the accessory coils but that e mail address seems to be guarded fairly well. If they can come out with new machines then they can come out with the accessory coils...they do this on purpose and it's inexcusable... I can go on bout XP and their BS but I'll stop now...

Going to respond to the helpful posts, but before that I guess I'll start with this.
As I pointed out originally these all hit in the VDI region I've been accepting for all the years I've owned the Equinox (i.e. 5 years) -- above a fresh drop Zincoln. So if that was a compliment I didn't deserve it, and if it was a friendly jab, well, the shoe fits so I guess I have to wear it.
Lol well you did post in the jewerly section after all..and basicly I was right on everything and dident have to do all that math 😁 funny how my wife can tell if somethings gold right away while I hold out hope till I can prove to myself its not.. yea a little jab 👍

Minelab will send them to Cabela's so they don't have to discount to Veterans, why lose 15% when you can just sell to a big box store that doesn't offer the 15% veteran discount.
I believe the dealer takes the hit on the 15% discount not Minelab you would have to ask @Gerry in Idaho about that. What is interesting about Minelbs whole strategy on this new detector is that they originally... strategically sent them to small dealers around the US while the big box got none...now they are sending most to the big box instead of the little guys it seems.. I do applaud those who are loyal to their dealers and have been waiting for months...I could have bought 6 manticores off Cabela's by now if I wanted..

I never heard of anyone making fake waterbury buttons but I guess it's possible. The ring I'd guess is not real but you should have an acid test kit (cheap) to sort those types of things out quickly. The Bracelet looks real silver to me even with the staining present. I like to throw questionable jewelry finds in the tumbler over night. If it can survive a tumble and shine right up then you may be good to go. Nice to see you venturing out away from coins for a change 😁

I knew what you were doing was just razzing you a bit and I would have done the same thing...thanks for the intel on the coil. Will be looking out for more of your videos 🙂

Boy the 6000 sure makes them sound larger then they are doesn't it? I have the 10x5 but now you have me looking for the 12x7...nice video and BTW there is something wrong with your video camera as it is blurring out the top of the screen sometimes 🙂

I fooled round with this yesterday evening for a couple minutes.....my machine does the same thing kinda..it will creep up but not to the extent his does....I was not set up as comfortably as he was to just reach over and wave the cap consistently over the coil while raising the ferrous ... if you just notch out the area whilst not waving a cap over it then there is not this creeping up thing. Like I said above I have successfully notched out bottle caps esp when park hunting and if I dig one it is usually intentional just to prove it ..the kind with aluminum foil can sometimes be sticklers...I asked him a question on that video but he has not got back yet.

Yes that is interesting I have moved the bottom ferrous line up and successfully notched out bottle caps that ring to the right of the preset notched out area (there are a few caps that will sound off in this area) but I don't wave a cap over it while doing it so I wonder why thats happening? If i get time I may try that

Strick I can not argue with you. My point is the original Equinox was the must have detector that was impossible to buy in the beginning, the Manticore is selling like it is just another detector. Cabela's had 14 in stock when I went to bed last night and now they have 13 in stock. Not exactly flying off the shelf. I wish you all the luck in the world with your Manticore, but I think you can find anything with whatever machine you use. It's like anything else, skill of the craftsman is more important than the tool used.
Agree as well. Remember the 800 was new technology back then with great features and at a lower price point designed to compete with Garretts fleet of coin jewelry and relic detectors. It had a very nice display and the menu was easily navigated..mission accomplished for Minelab. I think what you guys are seeing is the result of a higher priced detector an uncertain economy (Id be willing to bet most metal detector sales are lower) Also there is the youtube dummies that shoot their mouth off before they learn their machine.
Is the M-Core a unicorn of sorts? is it a black sand beach killer? is it a pick up and go machine like the 800?...nope this one takes a little time to learn but it does have some very nice features and more power I've had mine to the beaches, parks, foot hills etc...since mid Dec

Maybe the Manticore is better, but is it $1600 better? Time will tell.
It actually would be about $700 dollar difference between the 800 and the M-Core. Cost is irrelevant to some people..this is a fact of life. People were dropping 9K on new GPZ 7000 a few years ago. 6K on a minelab 6000. You can buy a horse that jumps 5 feet for 60K or you can buy one that cant jump for 5K. Both of these animals will let you put a saddle on them and ride them around...but they do different things. The 5k horse can do things the 60K horse cannot and vice a versa...same goes for cars so I'll spare you the details on those...so when you ask is it worth an extra $700 to purchase the M-Core. Well for me it was as I've already seen the benefits. Oh and one other thing...the economy is different now then it was just a couple months ago if you haven't noticed. And some people have already paid for their detectors through small dealers and are being patient remaining loyal. After all these are just toys 😄

The thing that really pisses my off more then anything else about Minelab is their coils...when you release a new detector and it takes months for the accessory coils to come out is just stupid. And then when they do come out you gotta stand in line like your waiting to shake the popes hand just to get one....it's all so ridiculous this is done on purpose and its bad look..morning rant over..

Aren't this mob a Nokta agency? No big deal if they get cranky with Minelab who in my opinion build better detectors. (even with their faults)
Thats the first thing I wondered as well....perhaps Minelab yanked them and for PR they make it look the other way around....

All I have to say is that you are very handy with a screw driver..I don't know if I can dig out 9" deep coin with a probe or screw driver. 3-4 inches no problem...nice shooting there Jeff

It would be informative for an out of the box zero adjustment head to head comparison on the Legend, E900 , Deus II and Manticore and any other machine you choose.
Run each detector in the closest stock program with just a ground balance.
We'll see how good the stone stock factory setup is for a beginner. None of this "If I do this it equals that stuff".
Real targets in the ground, no air testing, same targets for each obviously. No headphones.
A stock car drag race!
@Digalicious The man is saying to take each detector in its factory stock program and compare how they do without touching anything but the GB. See which ones win... doesn't seem that hard to me?

So then your saying that the M-Core is still reading pellets the same in the 1-2 range and gold more likely away from this ID range? What sized pellets do you mostly encounter 6-7-8 shot? Just curious because I have wondered how it would do looking for small gold and where the pellets would appear on the screen...I'm waiting for the small coil before I try it.

Probably not gonna happen and I know of a couple guys who kinda regret forking over the bucks for it.
Not me...I'd venture to say those guys haven't learned the machine. The M-Core will punch deeper then the Nox 800 no doubt about it. Pound for pound it's a much better detector esp for turf hunting. I've sold both my 800's and wont be going back...If I find the desire for the simplicity of the compressed ID of the 800 then I can borrow my wife's 800 like I did yesterday while crawling under a stage at an old movie theater with the 6" round coil lol. There are many here that have posted who hunt beaches and are happy with the M-Core...why do you care any way? are you waiting for a revelation of sorts? 🙂 you're mostly a PI guy right?

What's Up With My Garrett Pro-Pointer At?
in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Posted
I abuse the heck out of my Garretts...toss them on the ground next to me all the time before I dig..never dropped one on concrete however..they do have their problems like the light not wanting to turn off on one of them so remove the battery after I hunt. Send it back I'm sure Garrett will take care of you regardless of the circumstances.
