  1. Thanks for the heads up on that one..At first I thought you were referring to the one that holds the coil on. I have not touched that since I fist installed the coil although some people are saying that it needs to be tightened every now and then. strick
  2. Have had a couple rhinos for years..they are nice because you can see exactly where your mate is on the screen when they transmit. Cant go wrong with this kinda stuff except the $$. Been tinkering with maybe getting a Garmin Tread for the side by side but they are a little spendy.. if I didn't have Sourdough Scott with me I would have taken a wrong turn last year lol. There are so many options these days OnX etc...plus I hear that maybe apple is coming out with something for their I phones?? I don't have an I phone so maybe someone else knows about this? strick
  3. Thanks Chase I will give that a try this weekend and see if it works...Watched the video a week or so ago half asleep and missed that part. strick
  4. I have not even tried to plug in my ctx (sunray) phones to the m-core but will soon as we are heading to Pismo in April and I'll be bringing back ups of back ups as I cannot rely on the M-core speaker to work properly. strick
  5. I skimmed through the manual after that hunt but could not find anything about the beach modes gb being set to zero as a default..this may be a question for the Tom D site because there is some kinda difference in the way the beach mode gb reads the ground vs the all terrain modes. Next time I go back I'll try the prospector mode and see how it does. strick
  6. This could be the very reason why we never got the small coil for the 7000 that we were promised. They didn't want to shoot themselves in the foot for their next detector they had in the works the 6000...also why they did not let the other guys build a small coil...makes me wonder. strick
  7. Cool find...Good luck finding the face plate you never know it my still be out there. strick
  8. It's noticeably deeper in the turf as well...when I first got the Manti in mid December I was routinely digging coins at the length of the Garrett Carrot (9 inches) in areas I had been over already with the Nox 800 and they weren't just squeaking they were banging loud and clear. strick.
  9. Na you're not nuts lol. It happened to me this past week at one of my fresh water beaches...it's full of layers of black sand...the water is all run off from the high sierras gold country. It's a tough hunt the CTX really struggled at this spot I've been hunting it for years. The Nox does better I settled on using the park and field programs as they ran the best. Took the Manti there and tried using the beach modes ...the machine would not balance past zero...would not balance at all really...put it in AT general and it did balance out...However this beach is so bad that I constantly am re balancing all the time. I think I used to run the Nox in tracking mostly there. Try using non beach modes if you encounter it again...the machine may run better but there is no real way to make any vlf run smooth in conditions like that. strick
  10. It already has that kinda...the Manti sees targets off to the side of the coil better then any other VLF I've used... must be that extra power lol. strick
  11. Thanks 350 there is no stone it's just engraved I think...the inside has a stamp or crude makers mark but I cant make it out as thats where the mower clipped it...thankfully it can be repaired Dave sometimes it's better not to fight back as you know lol. If she complains that you are detecting too much just say you are now driven to find something nice for her after the dinner conversation the other night 😄 strick
  12. Beautiful finds 350 the spanish coin looks to be holed? The best part about your finds is they are close to home. Also you will have endless hunting it seems as it's impossible to cover every inch of those large fields and s they plow them more stuff will turn up. also not much modern trash to contend with...sometimes when a little birdie tells you to do something its good to listen 🙂 ...the hunt that almost wasn't. strick
  13. Hit a park yesterday...it was fun playing in the mud... came home soaked and dirty but with a smile on my face. Look at the color on that little ring. It holds acid up to 22k for about an hour and I don't have acid that goes higher then that so I'm thinking its between 18 and 20K...it was smashed by the mower so I heated it a little and straightened it out on the mandrel. The wife wants that one so I'll be taking it to the jeweler so he can doctor it up. The pendant is 14k stamped and acid tests. If you have a M-Core dig those 13s and 18's you might get a nice surprise. strick
  14. Your friend is right. Higher recovery speed in highly mineralized ground does better than lower recovery and can be deeper. I hunt a beach here on the Sacramento river that is full of black sand and hunting with the Nox 800 at 6-7 does way better then lower recovery speeds. You can hear the machine processing the ground faster and the targets are clearer. And yet I am still able to pull targets that are sometimes two-3 scoops deep. I am currently trying to learn this beach again with the manticore...The deus 2 does ok there. From the archives...
  15. We’re getting ready for another water boarding today and tomorrow...that snow will be up to your chin by sat... strick
  16. This is great stuff for the cool brass finds. https://www.talasonline.com/Renaissance-Wax Strick
  17. Over here Indian’s typically read 18-19 with the Nox at old home sites. Your gonna love that M-Core...it’s a real coin killer. Strick
  18. People do that but not as good as a genuine cow... strick
  19. Yep cow piss is actually a fertilizer in itself. Hunting a dry pasture vs a wet one is a lot like hunting a beach in the dry sand vs hunting in the wet sand and wave wash. Rye patch nevada area is famous for these types of ground conditions...after a good rain it becomes a real challenge. Strick
  20. Cool find that vintage sunburst celestial star maybe off of some horse tack. The curved trigger guard looks more like a candle holder part? Nice work! strick
  21. Thanks for posting that CPT I've dug lots of silver jewelry that has read in the mid conductor range and even some in the low conductor range. Like hunting for gold jewelry it depends on the size and shape of the target. When hunting for jewelry I notch nothing. strick
  22. there is one on e bay for $499 🙂
