  1. We need to come up with a big magnet on 4x4 wheels that we can wheel around. Then at least we pick up most of the ferrous stuff then flip a switch and let it fall to the ground away from where we re detecting. Maybe then we could have a fighting chance in some of these spots lol strick
  2. I must have missed the part where that was your first gold ring...congrats and looking forward to your posts in the future. Almost went to the beaches yesterday but decided to get some stuff done around here instead...There are some better tides in the next few weeks but without a weather event it's a crap shoot where to go..I may try to get down there at some point in the next few weeks for some relaxing beach detecting...it's fun but the traffic conditions can make it a real PIA. strick
  3. Nice work Mitchell to find a delicate necklace like that and all the stones intact is kinda miraculous...cool find! strick
  4. Does the machine quiet down as you pump it? Doesn't matter what the number ends up as.... as long as it quiets down as you pump it. If it is not ground balancing (quieting down during the pump) well then I would say either the ground is too hot or something is wrong with the machine..I have seen are places where the black sand is so hot that it's impossible to get the machine to balance correctly. The other thing I would add is if you are getting excessive ground noise try turning the sensitivity down...sorry Clive I could not resist.. strick
  5. Thanks fellas...yes I was thinking also if the sinkers metal composition might play a role as well as the metal shank. The large egg singers have no shank. The targets read the same sweeping 360 with them laying flat in their side so I don't know what they would read if you changed the orientation pointing vertical...I can cut the shank off one of the larger pyramid sinkers to find out...and then stick the pointy end into the grass as well lol. I have 5 gallon bucket about 1/2 full of sinkers so I can test some of the older looking ones to see if they respond the same my feeling is they will. If you look closely even the smaller sinkers read at the bottom just touching the line...How this plays out in our different dirts we'll have to see. strick
  6. I wanted to clarify something that I posted in the Centerline thred that Basstrackerman started...also I watched Video that Andy had made comparing led to gold nuggets. On a recent water hunt I had noticed that some fishing weights I had dug were clearly off of the centerline. And when I got home I tested them on the grass and it was the same result. So I did little more testing and what I found is this: 1. Large Irregular shaped Lead fishing weights do indeed hit off the centerline These were Pyramid and Egg shaped sinkers. 2. Smaller lead fishing weights of the same shape will read on the centerline. 3. Flat lead sinkers of all sizes will hit on the centerline. Photo #1 5 oz pyramid sinker Photo #2 1 oz pyramid sinker Photo #3 3 oz egg shaped sinker Photo #4 1 oz egg shaped sinker. Photos #5-#6 are the sinkers tested. Conclusion: Centerline stability for lead fishing sinkers is dependent on the size and shape of the sinker. Smaller sinkers will read touching the center line while bigger pyramid shaped and egg shaped sinkers will read off the centerline. I did test all the modes in factory and it seemed to be the same for each. I just wanted to clarify as this may help those of us that hunt beaches and fresh water swimming holes. strick
  7. The life of a relic hunter lol...We get all excited when we see little pieces of glass shining in the dirt...ahh all the possibilities that may turn up πŸ™‚ good shooting CBT strick
  8. Amazing story Steve and thanks for sharing it with us. Having worked in Alaska for 9 Summers I witnessed myself the tremendous need for boats, snowmobiles and ATV's.... Unlike over here where they are considered luxuries over there they are primary modes of transportation and used by nearly everyone. Great job and one to be very proud of. strick
  9. Or just e mail them on their web site....they get right back to you. Bought a detector there several years ago...easy transaction. Strick
  10. You can make any of the programs sound the way you want it to AFAIK except for the prospecting program which is set in the prospecting audio ...there are lots of audio choices and yea it can be a little confusing but take your time scrolling through the different functions...I'm still learning as well and I've had mine since before Christmas. strick
  11. These are my favorites. They don't slip down much but the velcro will wear down after a long time the need to replace. strick https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-1-3-lb-Soft-Cap-Gel-Foam-Stabilizer-Knee-Pads-1H-22380-04/314238216
  12. Sirius- beaches are for sissies lol J/K easy digging like butter..but once in a while I will oblige when times are tough and need a break from some real detecting. Happy hunting bro. πŸ‘ 350 yep had to be careful climbing up the bank very slippery...the sun will come out sooner or later..but then the grass will be 2 feet tall so gotta get the swing time in before then. Always loved the deus for some quality swing time The deus 2 is just a tiny bit nose heaver then the deus 1 was but not that noticeable. The deus 1 with the elliptical coil is true feather weight and has crazy separation but I'd rather have the Multi if you know what I mean..thanks for checking in buddy. strick
  13. Matt I'm not sure what that weed is we do have sticky tar weed around here in certain areas...this place I avoided last summer due to the overgrowth...I was thinking it was dead Mustard grass which is all over the place in the Mt Diablo foot hills. GB that tag came off some type of livestock..It had very large chain attached to it which makes me think a bullock or old dairy cow set up...Thanks for looking Oh and the penny's all had s mint marks but are so thrashed and I looked them up briefly but no love lol. strick
  14. Things are getting little rough when you have to post about some penny's but I took a break from hunting parks with the M-Core and did little walk about with the Deus 2. The weather has been windy and wet but I just cant sit still for very long..The place I hunted is not that old....early 1900's at best. In the past I've pulled a SLQ a few Mercs and some wheats out of the spot. Never hunted it with the Deus 2 so off I went. The spot is across the creek on the flat area. There were lots of tall stems in some areas restricting the detector some. But the Deus 2 in fast can really sniff out the coins. Got some good exercise sniffed out 7 wheats...and took few pics for some of you that live in other places can see what Calif looks like at the moment. strick
  15. yea but in Australia dont see any in the US for sale... strick
  16. Thanks for the report Hunterjunk It's going to be a gold rush when the small coil comes out lol...every man for himself..😁 strick
  17. have not had it happen strick
  18. I had the same happen in December. Neighbors tree came down on my property glanced my shop landed on my brand new trailer for my side by side. Their insurance is now ghosting me...the damage is not really enough for me to take out a claim...Hope your car is fixable strick
  19. Insurance may say it’s an act of God...tell them your an atheist and they need to pay up. Strick
  20. Oh boy me likes that chain πŸ˜€ almost 34 g nice honker you got there. strick
  21. $260 you got a deal! My father in law lived in Mexico for 15 years he always drove a beat up van or RV....the less attention the better. Lots of stories he had. But he liked it there πŸ™‚ strick
  22. Get a tumbler if you don't have one already. It is great for cleaning all the clad you find plus for questionable jewelry. If it does not survive a tumble and shine right up then it goes in the junk box (let neighbor kids pick from) or into the garbage can. Your bracelet may just clean right up. strick
  23. Cool find those parks can be full of surprises no mistaking that German eagle.. strick
  24. Yes I think this is right...I've been running my threshold as I would if I were nugget hunting with barely audible...the ground noise is easily differentiated from an iron target as it breaks through the threshold. I believe the threshold is set to zero and you have to engage it in all the programs except the gold modes...they call it "referenced threshold" I tend to run my detectors in all metal most of the time except when relic hunting in nail beds where it can get monotonous very quickly.. I don't know if you guys are running with the threshold on or off...good discussion strick
