  1. I've been running it down to were I can just here it comfortably...the ferrous audio can get insanely loud on that machine I think I've been running it around 3-4 if I remember right for my ears... strick
  2. You wont her the iron grunts with all metal off...I constantly toggle back and forth while hunting. I prefer to hear everything so usually hunt with it on but will turn it off once in while to give the old ears a break. Dont be afraid to turn the sensitivity down a little more..find target at 22 and turn it down to 18 and see how it sounds. I like deep audio at the beach. it's a little smoother then prospecting. strick
  3. Nice job Compass thats a killer ring. Not sure bout the copper comment a gold ring that large would ring as a high conductor usually..it doesn't need copper or silver in it to do that. Is it stamped? strick
  4. Nice work 350 I like your hunting strategy for plowed fields..I’ll have to remember that if I ever get to a plowed field. You’ve inspired me to maybe get out this weekend and have a go at a old spot or maybe just hit a park where there is a chance for a gold ring. Thanks for taking us along on another adventure. Strick
  5. I like that floaty thing been wanting to make one for a while now . Vets are nice guys but their memory is terrible lol. What did you dig 2 feet deep? I dug a hot wheel this morning at a beach I usually hunt in the summer I’d swear it was 2 feet deep but would not tell anyone as they might think i was crazy. Was sure it was going to be a big piece of iron. What program you using in the water? strick
  6. I have nothing really to offer...I'm a user not a tester..I don't have the patience for it plus I'll forget what I did soon afterwards and give a wrong report lol. All I can add is that they are both lightning fast. The Deus fast program really impressed me when I first started using it but when the smaller coil comes out for the M-Core it may be a tough choice which one to pick up... strick
  7. Thanks for sparing me the 17 minutes of my life the suspense was killing me lol....Thats the only guy I ever blocked on this website... strick
  8. I'm sure he will but he has already spoke plenty about that if you search you will find it. strick
  9. Went on a hunt at a swimming hole this morning and dug some sinkers that were not touching the center line and noticeably below it but not down into the ferrous range. It was dependent on which program I was using. AT HC seemed to keep them at or near the centerline the rest were below a bit...just an FYI EDIT: I tested some at home in the grass and it was the same. strick
  10. Happy Birthday Norman here’s to a few more nuggets for the poke 🍻 strick
  11. Personally I'm not that interested in it's small gold capabilities, most VLF's are fairly useless for small gold up where we hunt due to the hot soil....we are all using PI's up in the high country. As it stands right now I could see it working good in tailing piles for some larger specimens. I dug some non ferrous out of some tailing piles on my little trip weekend before last in the foot hills. Someone here has posted finding some gold chains already with the M-Core which is all that I am interested in anyways...it's coin and jewelry and relic capabilities. But yea it would be a bonus if they could improve on its small gold capabilities as well. Then there would be no stopping it. strick
  12. The displeasing reports are mostly coming from not enough time on the machine. Once they get some time then the light bulb goes off. The machine may get some kinda software up date that can make it only better than it already is. The manticore will go down as one of Minelabs best vlf detectors. strick
  13. Great scoops. Just like detectors I have too many scoops. I have a 720i and a 920i The 920i I like for wide open big beach hunting but it is a big heavy scoop. The 720i I don't use much because it has a 90 degree shaft which I found later not too like. Use my starv the most I've found s it's the lightest scoop. They all have carbon fiber shafts. My wife likes the starv as well and picks it over the aluminum scoop we got years ago. strick
  14. I was told by coin shop guy a long time go that anything I dug out of the ground would probably not be worth much...he was right for the most part but if you ever get a key date coin or an old coin in pristine condition then I would advise not to clean it unless you know what you are doing. If your coins are not worth anything but their intrinsic value to you then I would encourage you to learn how to clean them without ruining them. Cabin fever (member here) has not posted in a while but if you want to research some of his old posts had the best methods of cleaning indians and wheat cents...it did not involve water (hint) also the infamous you-tuber Aquachigger had a great video about cleaning a large copper cent that I recall watching a while ago. Have fun and do what you want with your coins. strick
  15. I toggle back and forth from disk to wide open constantly while hunting and can confirm that depth does not seem to be effected much while in disk. With the CTX there was a loss of depth while running in disk. To the OP how much off the centerline are are you talking? just barely then yes some good targets will be just a hair off of the centerline but not much in my experience. Also target smearing is quite common when there is iron in very close proximity to a good target but usually the smear will be still touching the centerline. This I demonstrated early on and I believe is in the manual as well? I have dug nothing yet that I can remember that was a good target way off of the centerline. strick
  16. Lol yea been spending too much time on the manticore forum. I remember my first true love the ctx 3030. Nothing was as good or better then it. I could not see how anyone could find fault with it. Yea it was a little heavy...maybe a little slow but I could pull stuff out of the nail beds it seemed just as well as my buddy with his deus 1. After hunting with me for over a year...he couldn’t take it any longer and bought a ctx for himself. He was so much into the deus I don’t think he ever really learned all the controls on the ctx but I had set it up for him to just turn on and go (he had done the same for me with my deus) He takes his grand daughter coin hunting with it. But he still is a Deus guy #1 Sometimes a guy will make a post titled X detector finds this or Y detector finds that. When the truth of the matter is most likely any modern detector would have found it just as easily...because we all know it’s not what your using but how your using it and more importantly then anything where you are hunting that really matters. Like Steve says all of the modern vlfs are so close in technology it’s like splitting hairs. I’d. Say with gold nugget hunting it’s little different as the machines are different technologically speaking But yea detector bashing gets old quick. I spend about 2 seconds on a couple of the face book pages and have to leave it’s so bad. The xp deus 2 is a great machine one of the best out there, We all like watching your exploits Bob your onto some really cool spots with lots of old history so keep posting buddy 👍 Strick
  17. I need to start checking the deus forum more often just seeing your post. Nice work as usual 350 very pretty places you are hunting. I've only ever found one shield Nickel and it looked just like yours 🤣 After seated's SLQ are my favorite coins.. thanks for posting. strick
  18. I noticed it yesterday when I first turned on the machine at a site...I think it's been going on for a while. Speaker is cutting in and out. In other words it just sometimes blanks out. I tested it again this morning playing around at home and I believe I do have an issue with the speaker. I have been using the headphones exclusively and there is no problem there. I have not submerged the machine that I can remember just given it a few baths. Hate to send it in already as it's working as it should otherwise. I'm going to call the repair facility this week and see what the fix would be. Just a heads up. strick
  19. Yesterday I was in a spot running it at 25 sens and while it was working great all I had to do was move a 100 yards to another spot and it became too chattery...lowered it to 22 sens and it purred right a long. Your not going to miss anything worth while running it lower. Small rivets 1/4 “ still bang nice and loud and sound much like a bigger target would. Strick
  20. What I have found with the Manticore is if you are getting excessive falsing you are running it too hot.. Reduce The Gain Don't be afraid that you are loosing depth the machine has plenty of power. What I have found where I hunt in different locations is that AT High Conductor runs smoother than AT General. I've tested it up in the gold country as well as down here in the lower foot hills. But thats my dirt so it may vary. When the smaller coil comes available then we will see a revelation of sorts as we are all hindered by the large coil right now in our trashy areas. strick
  21. Yep solid advice but the new design on the 900 plus the added yet to be proven water proofing are enough for me...one more thing that I noticed today while out on a site that is full of rivets...the Manticore puts most of them in the high 50's low 60's where the 800 used to put them in the higher end into the possible coin spectrum....I'm assuming the 900 and the Manticore will have similar VID's? if they are the same or even close that would be plus as well. Otherwise I'd have to divide by 2 every time I hit a target if I was using the 800 as right now the M-Core is my main squeeze. 😄 strick
  22. Yea same here. Sold one of my 800's....(the older out of warranty proven not to leak Ole Betsy detector) sold in one day...Now I'm having hard time selling the new one that still has 2.5 years of warranty left. I bought it 6 months ago right before Minelab came out with their M-Core announcement lol. The goal is to keep the accessory coils and get a 900 but I'm having reservations about that as well. As soon as Minelab makes their accessory coils available available for the M-Core I might not even use the 900? The Deus 2 ain't going anywhere thats for sure. It's funny I've been using all tones pretty much most of the time and I like it as well. I had a hard time with the 50 tones on the 800 for some reason and became used to using 5 tones mostly with that machine. If I get in a wide open field or beach where targets are sparse then I'll switch too deep. strick
  23. Stock coils meaning just the 11” or total what’s available now? 900 has 4 total that you have to work with so one could make better use of the 900 then the M-Core in that regards. Give me the choice of only using the 11 “ on either then it’s easy M-Core all the way. Disclaimer I don’t have a 900 so I’m just going off what I’m seeing on videos when it comes to the 900. Strick
