  1. I noticed it yesterday when I first turned on the machine at a site...I think it's been going on for a while. Speaker is cutting in and out. In other words it just sometimes blanks out. I tested it again this morning playing around at home and I believe I do have an issue with the speaker. I have been using the headphones exclusively and there is no problem there. I have not submerged the machine that I can remember just given it a few baths. Hate to send it in already as it's working as it should otherwise. I'm going to call the repair facility this week and see what the fix would be. Just a heads up.

Yesterday I was in a spot running it at 25 sens and while it was working great all I had to do was move a 100 yards to another spot and it became too chattery...lowered it to 22 sens and it purred right a long. Your not going to miss anything worth while running it lower. Small rivets 1/4 “ still bang nice and loud and sound much like a bigger target would.

Don't be afraid that you are loosing depth the machine has plenty of power. What I have found where I hunt in different locations is that AT High Conductor runs smoother than AT General. I've tested it up in the gold country as well as down here in the lower foot hills. But thats my dirt so it may vary. When the smaller coil comes available then we will see a revelation of sorts as we are all hindered by the large coil right now in our trashy areas.

Unless you do a lot of submerged small gold prospecting and micro jewelry hunting, I don't see any reason why you should get the 900 since you have an under warranty 800, Manticore and Deus 2. The 800 vs 900 difference on small gold and micro jewelry is minimal. The difference in waterproofing quality is yet to be determined. Target separation and depth between the 900 and Manticore is probably slight advantage Manticore.

Yep solid advice but the new design on the 900 plus the added yet to be proven water proofing are enough for me...one more thing that I noticed today while out on a site that is full of rivets...the Manticore puts most of them in the high 50's low 60's where the 800 used to put them in the higher end into the possible coin spectrum....I'm assuming the 900 and the Manticore will have similar VID's? if they are the same or even close that would be  plus as well. Otherwise I'd have to divide by 2 every time I hit a target if I was using the 800 as right now the M-Core is my main squeeze. 😄

All I can say at the moment is that I sold one of my Equinox 800s and the other one has been relegated to small gold prospecting and loaner status. I would not have imagined that even one year ago.

Yea same here. Sold one of my 800's....(the older out of warranty proven not to leak Ole Betsy detector) sold in one day...Now I'm having  hard time selling the new one that still has 2.5 years of warranty left. I bought it 6 months ago right before Minelab came out with their M-Core announcement lol. The goal is to keep the accessory coils and get a 900 but I'm having reservations about that as well. As soon as Minelab makes their accessory coils available available for the M-Core I might not even use the 900? The Deus 2 ain't going anywhere thats for sure.

I'm really starting to like the All Tones on both the Manticore and 900. Really wasn't that hard for me to get used to.

It's funny I've been using all tones pretty much most of the time and I like it as well. I had a hard time with the 50 tones on the 800 for some reason and became used to using 5 tones mostly with that machine. If I get in a wide open field or beach where targets are sparse then I'll switch too deep.

  6. Stock coils meaning just the 11” or total what’s available now? 900 has 4 total that you have to work with so one could make better use of the 900 then the M-Core in that regards. Give me the choice of only using the 11 “ on either then it’s easy M-Core all the way. Disclaimer I don’t have a 900 so I’m just going off what I’m seeing on videos when it comes to the 900.

I’ve had to replace those points on that side cutter and they are flat on the top side. The cutter blade slides on that flat side back and forth. The cutter I had fit on the back of the tractor and used the power lift to put it down to cut . That tractor is what you call a 8N and I had a 9N .

All that was many moons ago.

Yes indeed I was looking at some close ups of the points and all of them that I could find were flat on the back so they could bolt onto the boom. Appreciate the responses fellas...

It shouldnt be the case it should be quiet and stable using the factory modes "out of the box" without having to change the settings , this even in high iron trashed areas.

You mean like the Deus 2 where you use the factory programs and never adjust anything else?  🤣

Please...this thred is turning into  Deus 2 lovers bashing the Manticore thred by some of the other comments i've seen above...There is another area for that in the comparisons section...

  9. One of my clients found this on a walk about around this property near it old homesite. Trying to figure out what it is. His dad seems to think it is some kind of a bayonet but I cant find anything that looks like it. To me it looks like some kind of a hanger you would pound into a tree...looks too short to be a tent stake... The good news is hes going to take me where he found it 🙂

They are even better.  Most comfortable knee pad I have ever owned and the most utilitarian for what we do.  You will be amazed they beat anything out there.  I bet I have over $300 worth of various knee pads from Home Depot.  They may be good for laying carpet, but not for metal detecting.

    Doc

I just tried to look them up on your site..I think you have been hacked. A heads up.

It's sad to see everything become centralized. The mom & pop grocery store, the town clothing store, the local bootmaker, your favorite Cafe. Seems everything has gone corporate. The bonds and friendships forged through these connections become lifelong. Now thrown by the wayside by tapping on a computer or talking with a person from who knows where. I understand we all want to make $$$. But at the cost of greed? It seems we could be at a tipping point of society. I long for the days of our elders, when life was simpler, yet harder. I'm glad I'm fortunate to be able to live in old fashioned way and understand the new ways. I'm afraid if the 💩 really hits the fan, and we have a total blackout of no electronics.  The younger generations won't have a clue on how to survive.

Thanks.  Interesting.  Shows that soil mineralization can potentially push pure non-ferrous at depth into the ferrous limit regions (depending on the profile) such that ferrous limits will potentially mask keepers.

It doesn't just happen with soil mineralization it happens with with ferrous junk as well. I posted this back in December when I first got my Manticore. My second post from the top comparing a gold ring in close proximity to  a bottle cap. Note that both the bottle cap and the gold ring are pushed up ward in the photo.

  13. I hunt modern parks mostly when not hunting relics...they are whats close and convenient. There are no silver coins to speak of in these newer and remodeled parks...but there is silver and gold jewelry. Coins are simple enough to hunt in turf and should not pose much of a challenge once you gain experience and learn your machines. Gold Jewelry is another thing... I dig lots of crap to find gold in  park...which is what you will have to do. No way round it.

    A question for anyone using the Tony Eisenhower headphones on their D2;

Do they use the bone phone output like the GG Amphibians, or the wired headphone output?

I'm currently using the Gray Ghost Amphibian II's and love them, but because they use the bone phone output you're limited to square audio. Just wondering if the Eisenhower's used the regular wired phone output so you had your choice of PWM or Square? I was thinking it would be nice if the new update for the D2 added PWM to the bone phone output but I think that's probably unlikely.

They are Boners as well. They are very loud. Myself I would rather have the PMW as I like the iron sound better and it took me a bit to get used to them. But the quality is there for sure.

An E mail from Tony when I was enquiring bout headphones for my Deus 2

" I now build two versions of my waterproof headphones:

    1. The “Divers” have vent and drain holes which allows water to rapidly drain from the cups.

They are specifically designed for scuba, snorkeling or free diving.

    2. The “Waders” are identical to the “Divers” except that I omit the vent and drain holes. This essentially eliminates any wind noise. They can still be used under water, it just takes longer for them to drain. Perfect for dry land, wading or use in the rain.

They are designed to work in the “Bone Phone” mode on the Deus II so they can be very loud. you may have to reduce the volume. The custom built 6-pin plug exceeds IP68 waterproof standards. The connector is straight so the cable can be easily routed away from your grip.
