Wife has me changing all the batteries in our smoke alarms...they are hard wired but also have the 10 year 9 volt batteries installed...they are 6 years old and was going to throw them away but then decided to try one in the pinpointer...seems to work fine...anyone try these before ? I realize they are basically back up batteries in the smoke alarm but I’m wondering it they would last longer then the regular Duracell 9 volts that I’ve been buying...

They're too busy releasing new products like the Pro-Find 40 to flood the market with new things to buy to worry about coils that they appear to have some sort of distain towards
I'd like to tell them where they could put their new pin pointer...gimmme my ---- ---- small coil! ----

Sorry to hear this. I had the pleasure of hunting with him once near his home in Forrest Hill. I had him make a pendant and necklace out of one of my nuggets that was a gift for my wife. His art work will live on forever. I heard he moved back east recently...RIP Steve
And thank you for your service.

about the only thing that would get me excited about a ML detector would be if they decided to stuff the brains of the Nox 800 (with dPitch added) into the body of the Nox 900.
I would be down for that...thought of trying out a 900 but the reports from you guys and the fact that I have the M-Core has kept me from getting one...I'm happy with my M-Core and will be even more happy when I get the small coil..I will admit I've not been detecting very much over the last few months...but for park and beach hunting I'm very happy with the M-Core...calling out coins for me has been relatively simple..I use mainly AT general and once in a while AT low for jewelry..
To add to the pessimistic nature of the thred I've lost all my close to home relic spots some due to development and others I've hunted out.....honestly I've not the desire to go out right now looking for new spots..I need things close to home due to work....
@Daniel Tn if you are looking for a good vlf beach machine you already have it...I've considered selling my TDI pro after seeing how deep the M-Core is..only reason I'm holding onto the TDi is the clean sweep coil and it's a well balanced machine...We still have one 800 in the family with all the coils but frankly I wont be using it much once the small coil becomes available on the M-Core.
Broach from old mining camp recently Nox 800 with 6 inch coil and a cool rock that i took home from where weve been getting nuggets..

I need it for trashy mine sites with the most effective ID. Any additional feedback welcomed. Thx.

For mining camps the Nox works just fine and the M-Core might be a little overkill but once you learn it you will be happy I'm sure esp if you start going down the dark road of a park/jewelry hunter lol...

The M-Core is deeper then the Nox 800 in my experience just as Minelab advertised it would be. I find the screen valuable in discerning targets as well. I still have my wife's 800 and all the coils to that machine. I used it a little about a while back and found my wrist hurting from the grip...now this never happened before so maybe my arm is now used to the ergonomics of the M-Core grip which is better then the Nox 800...

The only way I would consider a minelab pin-pointer is if they redesigned the whole thing. You need to be able to reach for the pinpointer and grab it without having to fumble around looking for the button to turn it on... in other words without taking your eyes off the location of the target...kinda like having a pistol if your going to shoot a bad guy you know where the trigger is already...watch how this guy does it!

I vote for using both... why does it have to one or the other ? Different shoes for different terrain....trashy spots PI Good luck with that. Open beach detecting PI is great....Not all targets will be 10 inches deep and you may find the VLF helpful in a lot of scenarios. Even in the worst ground conditions a vlf can be helpful picking out shallower targets. Digging everything every time you go out looks good on paper till you actually do it 🙂
I have a whites TDI Pro...I only use it for beach hunting but not all the time just sayin...

I used to charge for computer repairs, an amount per hour or any fraction thereof. If it took me one minute to fix it, I charged the hourly rate. 😀
There not paying for our time there paying for our knowledge 🙂

Strick I don’t have the detector so I’m not waiting on that small coil like you and so many others.
I believe it be best not to buy any detector if it don’t have a small coil to begin with. It’s bull having to wait as long as you and so many others are still waiting.
I started to buy into it when it first came out but sure glad I didn’t.
The Best Chuck
Don't get me wrong Chuck...I love the detector...beach and park hunting it's a gem... I even used it for a bit up in some real tough dirt in the high sierras and it seemed to handle it just fine as the Nox had done previously in the same location... I'm with you and I'm thinking I may hold off on any new Minelab detectors until they get their S&*T together...especially after what I went through on the 6000 which is now my favorite go to easy to use gold machine since the recall and the introduction of the after market coils..but
Get off your Arse Minelab you tease us for months and don't put out. I need that coil for my trashy beaches and parks!

I'm gonna log on to this site and hear that the 5x8 coil is out...and then I will be happy... until then I'll just keep cussing Minelab daily.

From my limited experience I would say the M-Core is deeper when hunting in disk modes. I have not tested the machines this is just my personal guess as i have both. The excal I own has a 8 inch coil and I use it exclusively in trashy beaches in the water only...because I do not have the 5x8 yet for the manticore so there is no way for me to compare the two....I have dug some really deep things on the beach with the M-Core 15-18 inch deep coins regularly...but this depends on the beach location.

SS and some older Brass will test positive on scratch test..SS will hold all the way to 18-22k acid sometimes...as noted above that it's fairly easy to tell the gold by the softness of the metal during the scratch test...Nice hunt Compass looking forward to getting back in the hunt (for jewelry) myself soon..thanks for sharing

Dope, weapons and jewelry sounds like a typical school yard around here as well...Had to look up what a ganja grinder was thats how much I know lol...I've found some really nice knives as well...nice hunt.

Thats funny as I was just thinking that you should have one by now as it seems you have to be a you-tuber these days to have one. Glad you got to try it out. who knows maybe they will be for sale before the end of the year 🤣 Now I'll watch your video..

Wonder if our buddy @strick can x-ray some Manticore coils to see what's going on in there 😉
Theres only one right now and I took a picture of it the day I got it...will get the small coil up there when I get on in my hands...
I have no idea whats going on inside those coils but I do get satisfaction from the comments and analysis from all the "coil doctors"
I'll end up getting the small coil if it ever become available..and I'll bring my own lube if I have to.. no one wants to spend a lot of money on this stuff..so what I've been doing is to sell something that I'm not really using (anything) to help offset the cost of the new toy...makes me feel better about it.
If I can help myself I wont be jumping on new Minelab detectors for a while...I just don't like how they are doing business...they should have made the manticore coils available a long time ago...and the 6000 coils I've got three now that I prefer not to use just sitting because I'm using after market coils that work better...

Thanks for the report on the up date.

Try another coil if that don’t work send it in.

Well at least you can say that XP finishes what they start...
I would have bought the small elliptical had that been the surprise...I'm wondering what the hold up is on that? they already have the molds from the Deus 1 (I still have that machine and coil) I know that the battery is in the shaft on that coil...is there just not enough room inside the coil to make it happen with the Deus ? It seems that the 9 inch round on the deus 2 is the same size as it was on the Deus 1 ......sorry for the ramble...
