  1. Nice... I'd like to try  titanium but have three ss scoops with CF shafts one I don't use any more. I really like my Starve the best as it's light for a ss scoop. I will add one thing if you have habit of placing your scoop over your shoulder while detecting the pointy edges of the Raptor grip can dig into your shoulder which is annoying. Also the bolts want to rust on the one that I have.  I prefer this instead. They can be hard to find. Happy B- Day!

  2. Exactly just like the Nox you hear the the iron or not if you wish. I will add that I have not used the vertical bars (notched) out anything yet as I prefer to dig most targets by how they sound and ID stability. Also I am still using the presets ferrous limits for the most part with some slight adjustments mostly on the top line once in  while...there is a lot to learn with this machine and I'm just barely digging into it. I've tried the enhanced audio but found it too quiet (probably a deep target) so quickly switched back to normal now people are saying the enhanced is great so I need to re visit that again. I really like the deep audio but it does not allow you to hunt by tone. I wish that machine would get to you..

It was just a bad beach for conditions.  Little waves, a slough, bad tides and not a good wind so ... better luck next time.

Do you prefer little coil high gain or big coil and less sensitivity?  I guess there are not that many Manticore choices yet.

I don’t hunt salt water beaches nearly as much as you do. I’ll use the big coil for more coverage although I prefer the 11 inch.  My experience with the larger coils in not much more depth. If things are boring then I enjoy using my TDI pro with the clean sweep coil. I have never used that 6 inch coil on a salt water beach.

I'm confused.  Unless you were notching the lag screw's Conductive VDI, from my reading of the manual it shouldn't matter where the ferrous limits are set other than the tone pitch result -- low for targets in the (gray) ferrous zones, but still audible.  Am I misunderstanding the manual, misunderstanding you, or ??

Iron is silent for the most part when you engage the ferrous limits. When hunting in all metal anything in the pre set ferrous zones will give an iron grunt. Does that make sense?

    From the Manual:

    FERROUS LIMITS AUDIO

Targets detected within the Ferrous Limits grey area will give no target response or ferrous indication In All Metal, targets will give a ferrous tone as defined by the Ferrous Tones setting (page 46), and the Ferrous Indicator will

    be displayed

Targets detected outside of the Ferrous Limits in the white area will give a regular target response as defined by the Target Tones setting (page 44)

For some reason I’m really finding lots of nickles?  These are areas I’ve hit with the 800 pretty hard.

It does have great recovery speed, and seems to pick up small targets deeper than the Nox.

Yes it loves nickels and smacks them easily and deeper then the Nox for sure. A lot of the coins I’m finding are on edge and easily detected. The machines frequencies seem to be tuned for coins more so then the Nox 800 was? I’d like to see how it compares to the 900 Nox and if someone who has both will prefer the 900 over the M Core? I just sold one of my 800’s today. I have one more to sell...then may get the 900 just to have...with the coil assortment I have for the 800’s? Or just get rid of all of it. Right now it’s hard to put the M Core down and we are handicapped without the smaller coil. The machine will be a real sniper with that small coil. Minelab hurry up please...

  6. I was on the beach one day. Guy and his wife are stopped watching me dig a target in the wave wash. He asks me is it legal to do that? I smiled and told him this was the United States of America not Russia. He looked at me and walked on. It goes to show you how people are getting trained that everything is illegal as they take our rights away one after the other.

There is one park that I have  been confronted in twice by the city employees who work there and I've only been there twice! The first time the guy drives out in his truck onto the grass and tells me I'm not allowed to dig. I tell him I'm not hurting anything and you just left 2" ruts 50 feet long in the field to tell me this? I did not leave he was not happy and that was the end of that. Went back one more time and different guy with leaf blower tries to tell me the same thing...Says he could get fired for not telling me and he has a family to support lol. Well you did your job then I tell him. He did mention that guys with shovels have made a mess. Shovels are a bad look in  public park. It will get us all banned.

Once had another city worker pull up at a different park and was watching me dig a target. When I got done I walked up to him and told him I was being respectful and not making  mess.  He said I know I was watching you. Said he has a detector too and likes to detect. We had a good conversation exchanged some info on good locations to hunt and everything was cool. These guys don't like seeing shovels in their parks they have to take care of. I haven't had any Karens yet lol

Deep iron at parks is what worries me, as I have dug a few deep nails I thought were coins. Need more time at a park before I pass judgment though.

It loves roofing nails and short thick rusty bolts with  big head. They will read right on the centerline sometimes.

  8. I'm going to revise my first thoughts that there was one detector that I regretted buying and traded/sold soon after I bought it and that was the Garrett ATX. I thought the build quality was poor (cheap battery holders) that broke easily if dropped...the cam locks were a tough to operate and easily gummed up. ...I did not like the tones and it was a tank. I also bought my wife a Garrett AT gold..she loved using it with the speaker...there was no volume adjustment on the machine only the headphones so it was always loud s heck...thankfully the speaker broke soon after we bought it and I did not send it in to be repaired. Trying to connect the headphones to the machine was difficult with my fat clumsy fingers...It was about that time when I discovered Minelab's stable of machines and have never looked back.
