  1. I use, and have used these for years now, for metaldetecting, diy and wrenching on motorcycles. Never had sore or stiff knees again. Don't know if they are available in your country. They are often available at "Aldi" in Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany and France. https://www.promobutler.be/nl/aldi/promoties/promotie-huismerk-aldi-bij-aldi-kniebeschermers-met-gel-kniebescherming-werkkledij?id=2138276
  2. Hi Al F, If you have the choice between the Garrett Pro Pointer AT and the Minelab Pro-Find 35 I would buy the Garrett. I have bought the Minelab: Yellow handle started to discolorize by dirt very soon. Just rinsing with water didn't bring back the bright yellow color. Battery cover "locked" easily with dirt and more often than not needed pliers to open. Handle was a bit too large to fit well and easy in "regular" pinpointer holster. The special iron-function did not work for me. The extra switching needed to go to and from that function I found too time consuming in the field. Mine leaked on the first day of use at the "stick". Had bad experience with guarantee with dealer and Minelab (France). Sealed it myself with a waterproofing kit, and used it for a couple of months, but sold it afterwards for peanuts. I bought the Garrett (I have bought the Z-Lynk model together with my Garrett AT Max detector): For me 100% satisfaction! The Z-Lynk connects immediately to the headphones, no interference with the detector, really sturdy and waterproof, works everytime, easy menu to remember. I still had the Minelab when I bought the Garrett and found that I most times took the Garrett detecting, even with my Equinox (so without using the Z-Lynk function), and left the Pro-Find at home. Hope this helps you to make a choice. 😉
  3. A bit off topic, but the question of the OP has already been answered....: Hi Phrunt, if it's really you?!, welcome back and you have been missed by me. The forum seemed a little "stale" without you. ☺️ Greetings, Bob'ke
  4. I use both. I prefer the use of the bluetooth Minelab earphones (comfort and lightweight). But when it's hot in summer I use the WM08 with lightweight XP wired earphones.
  5. I use F2. My reason: Minelab made the effort to provide this option later on and for free, so their engineers must really think it is a significant plus over the Fe. And as a simple detectorist, who does not know all the ins and outs of de development reasons for the F2, for me there would be no realistic gain in time and finds to question their idea. Of course any other opinion somebody else may have is fine with me too. This is just me giving my reason/opinion for myself as asked by the OP. Greetings, Bob'ke
  6. The answer is YES. I have a Z-Lynk transmitter and a Z-Lynk receiver. Used them for my Teknetics Eurotek Pro. Great! I also have a Garrett AT Max International. The Z-Lynk receiver works with the Max and my Garrett Pro-Pointer AT Z-Lynk too. When the weather is hot I use the Z-Lynk receiver with the Max, just like the WM-08 module for my Minelab Equinox. HTH
  7. Hi Skate, Interesting to have a look at. Thank you for posting. In the meantime, you could try to put your elbow in your side and move the detector from side to side by turning your upper body. As if your arm is part of your torso (elbow attached to your torso). Do not grip the handgrip too tightly. Almost let it rotate a little in your hand. This will give you some relief. Another possibility is to use an S-rod. As a comparison: my elbow hurts very fast when I swing my standard straight EQX800 and does not while swinging my AT Max with the standard S-rod. While the EQX is an excellent detector, most of the time I prefer the AT Max because it doesn't hurt my elbow. Just a personal thing maybe, but for me it's a big difference. Have a nice painless 2020. 👍
  8. Here you will find a video of a german detectorist, Stefan, "Sondelsüchtig" (= addicted to detecting), who favors the Mars Universal Shaft for his AT Pro and nowadays for his AT Max too: On his channel you can find a lot of interesting videos on the AT Pro and AT Max. All in the german language, but he speaks english too. So if you have any questions you can always post him on his YT-channel. HTH Greetings,
  9. After having bought and used a Minelab Equinox 800 for more than 80 hours/ 1 year, I bought a Garrett AT Max as well. The AT Max is my favourite detector now. Don't get me wrong, the Equinox is a very very good detector in my opinion and I'm keeping it for sure. However I can not really get used to the "tight" vdi scale of -9 to 40. I prefer a vdi scale of 0 to 99. And the handle/straight-stem combination causes my arm (elbow/shoulder) to hurt some after even half an hour. No problems with the S-stems of my other two detectors. But most importantly (for me personally) the AT Max has something extra, that I have never experienced with another brand of detector, namely: FUN. It's hard to describe why or how, but just looking at it and using the AT Max gives me joy. And every time the Max connects immediately with the MS-3 headphones (or my Z-Lynk receiver for use with my XP backphones) and the wireless AT Z-Lynk pinpointer. BTW, this "FUN-factor" is not advertised by Garrett, but you get it nevertheless and for free. 😉 I think (and it's just my personal opinion, others may have a completely different opinion of course) the Equinox is more technically advanced and adjustable to personal preferences. More frequencies and also simultaneous frequencies will give me more confidence of being able to adjust everything to the "max" (with the Eqx instead of the Max 😀) while prospecting or searching around salt water. The Equinox has everything I want in a detector, but , since I bought the AT Max, I find myself taking out the AT Max to the fields and parks every time. On topic: Garrett AT Series That Good? : ( for me) YES! I suppose, now I'm a Garrett-fanboy, as well as an Equinox-fanboy. 😁
  10. Hi Steve, I've searched the forum in vain to find your book. Is it an article or is there a real book or pdf? Would you please direct this "blind" man to the link/download/order form? ? Thanks and greetings, Bob'ke
  11. Hi Smithobx, Welcome. Yes: "The default settings for the User Profile are a copy of Park Mode Search Profile 1." (Page 33 of the manual). Thus after a "FP" the personal profile will be "Park 1". Greetings, Bob'ke
  12. Hi All, As I looked on the website of my french md-dealer I saw an adapter to fold the grip/pod of the EQX into the armcuff. Not for me, but maybe something of interest to some of you who like to take your EQX travelling in a small case... FYI: Here's the link: http://www.shop-lefouilleur.com/v2/fr/nouveautes/842-bascule-poignee-equinox-7861560031186.html € 39 = us$ 43,80 Greetings, Bob'ke
  13. Hi All, Today I found this "introduction" of a mini/pocket md on the YT channel of "Sondelsüchtig". A "new type of" metaldetectorsensor/coil with a smartphone app/screen..... Is this the future? Don't know, but I thought some of you might find it interesting to view. It is in german, but the video "speaks" for itself. Sondelsüchtig means "addicted to detecting". And € 399,00 = us$ 448,60. "Handy" is a smartphone. 14. @ mh9162013 : interesting thread. Thanks for posting. @ Steve H. & kac: Thank you for your thoughts on the Garrett AT series, and especialy for the comparison between the Max and the Pro. Greetings, Bob'ke
  15. Hi Steve, Congrats on your 20 years and thanks for all the work and info! ? Greetings, Bob'ke
  16. I have both books. They make a lot of questions on this and other fora "obsolete". ?
  17. Hi Sinclair, Yeah I missed that one. Thanks for posting! ? Very motivating. Greetings, Bob'ke
  18. Steve H., I do not see the chair for the little squirrel, you told us about earlier....? ?
  19. Hi mn90403, Just a thought: you could have a look at http://www.etsy.nl. They produce/sell pendants like these. They have 78 pages on their website and to check them all will take up too much of my time. ? As they sell/produce these kind of pendants, they might be able to point you in the right direction regarding the maker's mark. Greetings and good luck, Bob'ke
  20. Hi All, Thanks to Steve H. and Phrunt for wording my same opinion so well. For all other manufacturers it will be step up to the new technology or weep. Everyone had the chance, but Minelab was the first to produce one and beat the others to it. In the future it will be choose or loose, I think. But what do I know? I'm just a hobby-detectorist, who is happy with my choice of detector and I wish everybody luck, happiness and great finds with their choices, whether it be an Equinox or another type or brand. ? Greetings, Bob'ke
  21. Hi Steve, Great adventure and great story. Very informative too. I'm all charged to go out detecting again soon. ? Thanks for posting and congratulations on your gold (and other) finds! ? Greetings, Bob'ke
  22. Hi Revlza, "in Nevada sun" + "beach": did you store the detector in the (hot) boot of your car or left it lying on the hot sand for some time? I read somewhere about someone's Equinox getting too hot in the desert and the screen blanked out too. He cooled the pod with some water and a towel and after a short while the screen came on again and worked ok after that. Possible your's got too hot, too? Keep us posted about the outcome, after you get it back from ML service, please. No need for any buyer's remorse., though. You made the right choice in detectors. ? Welcome and greetings, Bob'ke
  23. Hi Flakmagnet, If I remember well, it was Phrunt who, on this forum, came up with the idea to do a "FP" after updating to V1.75. He used the comparison with an update on the pc, where you have to restart the pc to have the update take effect. I did it and it's working fine for me. What would prevent you to give it a try yourself, to see if it solves your problem with the depth indicator? Easily done, and if you're not ok with it afterwards, you can simply roll it back to V1.50. ? Good luck and greetings, Bob'ke
  24. Hi Andy, So your toe did point you right. And soon too! Nice coin. Congrats! Greetings, Bob'ke
  25. Hi Andy, Good to see you're back. Nice coins! ? Hope your "repaired" toe will guide you to your 3rd hammered soon. ? Greetings,
