  1. Dear Valued Members,

Soon to be released 1.08 update will include the following:

    1. Iron Filter (Iron Bias) and Stability settings have been added.
When the device is working in Multi frequency, select the Recovery Speed setting and press the pinpoint button.

Iron Filter (IF) setting ranges between 1-8 and the default value is 8. DEFAULT VALUE 8 IS THE SAME AS THE CURRENT LEGEND WITH NO IRON FILTER SETTING.
Lower IF setting will increase the chances of ferrous targets to be classified as non-ferrous targets and vice versa.
St setting is the fine tuning for the IF setting.
When the IF is set to 8, the St setting will be inactive in the Park, Field and Gold Field modes.
When the IF is set to any value below 8, the St setting can be activated by pressing the right or left button and can be adjusted by using the + and - buttons.
NOTE: THE st SETTING IN THE BEACH MODE IS DIFFERENT THAN THIS NEW st SETTING!

    2. Multi 3 (M3) has been added to PARK and FIELD modes.
Ideal for humid, wet and/or conductive soils.
It eliminates the moisture in the soils which can cause falses. It also weakens the response of targets generating 10-11 IDs such as coke and aluminum foil.

    3. The selected setting in the settings menu will now blink for easier viewing.

    4. Mute function has been added.
On the main screen, press and hold the Frequency button to mute the device.
Letters "AO" (Audio Off) will appear on the right side. You can unmute by pressing and holding the Frequency button.
Even if muted, the device will revert back to unmute in the custom discrimination pattern (notch), ground balance and settings menus automatically.

    5. Auto sensitivity drop in the custom discrimination pattern
When you select the custom discrimination pattern (notch), the sensitivity drops down to 5 automatically. However, if you are using the automatic notch, you may not want the sensitivity to be lowered. In this case, press the Ground Balance button once to revert back to the current sensitivity. Letters "CS" (current sensitivity) will be displayed on the right side.

    6. Hearing the audio through the speaker and the Bluetooth headphones at the same time
When the Bluetooth setting is selected, if the Bluetooth HPs are paired, press the up button and select 2.

    7. Reverting Back to Factory Defaults
After selecting the user profile in the settings menu, press and hold the pinpoint button until letters Fd appear on screen. Fd will disappear after 2 seconds.

    8. Audio Gain setting has been added.
In the PARK, FIELD and BEACH modes, after selecting the volume, press the pinpoint button. Letters AG will appear on the right side. You can adjust the AG using the + and – buttons between 1-6. The default value is set to 3.

    9. VCO Tone Pitch has been added
In Tone Pitch, as the coil approaches the target, the audio frequency will change in proportion to the signal strength. It can be selected from the number of tones setting and is shown with a P.

    10. Discrimination Pattern is now saved.
Default discrimination pattern for PARK, FIELD, and BEACH has been defined as “F (Ferro-off)” and as “G (Ground-off)” in the Gold Field Mode.

    11. Mineralization Indicator
In the ground balance menu, press the discrimination button to activate the mineralization indicator. Letter GI (Ground Indicator) will appear on the right side. When you press the discrimination button again, it will revert back to Ferro Check and FC will appear.

    12. The default threshold frequency level in Park, Field and Beach modes have been changed to 10.

    13. Threshold parameters have been updated in the Park, Field and Beach modes.

    14. Audio during ground balancing has been updated.

That sounds optimistic from what I heard.  First she emphasized she would not be giving a date for the release.  She also said they (engineers) would work until the end of the week, then take a holiday week off.  So That means back to work on 8 May.  She mentioned them needing possibly a couple weeks to finalize the changes (don't know if 'couple' included the remainder of the current week or not...).  Finally she said the changes would be sent to select testers (presumably to shake loose any obvious bugs) before being released to the mass of current owners.

If you add all that up I think it's into June.

Yep - my guess only - end of May - early June! Don't quote me on it though:-)

Wonder if the new M3 setting will be even more sensitive than M2 on smaller targets and if it will be included in Beach Mode……..?

I also hope the next software version will be easier to update. I still haven’t been able to update to 1.07 from 1.05…….and mostly silence from Nokta Makro support even though I email them each week🤨.

Hello Jeff. I am so sorry. Did not know....but I check all emails that come through and make sure they are responded to.

Do you use messenger or whatsapp? Get in touch with me directly and we can set up a date and time to even video call you and walk through it and see the issue ourselves.

    3)Pitch Tone
    4)Mineralization Meter

  5. If you have any issues updating your Legend, please read the troubleshooting guide below:

    TROUBLESHOOTING
    Windows
    1. Disable your antivirus program.
    2. Plug the device into a different USB port, if your computer has more than one, to see if the problem is specific to one port.
    3. The right drivers must be installed – Go to www.silabs.com/developers/usb-to-uart-bridge-vcp-drivers and install the driver according to your computer’s operating system.
    4. Type "Control Panel" into the Windows search bar and select Control Panel.
Go to Power Options > Change Plan Settings > Change advanced power settings.
Find USB Settings, then drill down to USB selective suspend setting.
Disable the options next to On battery and Plugged in, then click Apply.
You must then restart your PC to stop it from turning off the USB ports unnecessarily.
    MacOS
    4. In the Finder on your Mac, locate the app you want to open.
Don’t use Launchpad to do this. Launchpad doesn’t allow you to access the shortcut menu.
Control-click the app icon, then choose Open from the shortcut menu.
    Click Open.
The app is saved as an exception to your security settings, and you can open it in the future by double-clicking it just as you can any registered app.
Note: You can also grant an exception for a blocked app by clicking the Open Anyway button in the General pane of Security & Privacy preferences. This button is available for about an hour after you try to open the app.
To change these preferences on your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Security & Privacy , then click General.

  6. Hello all...
THIS QUESTION IS DIRECTED TO LEGEND USERS ONLY:

As we are working on the next update, please list the items you would like to be added / changed in the Legend (NO NEED TO MENTION IRON BIAS AS THAT IS ALREADY PART OF THE LIST). You can also list any accessory requests.

Once we gather this information, we will focus on those that are requested by the majority of users (not limited to this forum) and will try our best to give them to our valued users.

THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTION!

    Dilek,

If NM is able to come out with an inline pin pointer that uses the discrimination settings setup in the control until of the detector I will immediately buy 2 complete detector+pin pointer setups, as will many others.

Sunray used to produce that type of unit and was popular with Explorers and ETracs.

Can you expand on the inline part? You mean you attach the pinpointer to the device?

  8. Hello all.... copied all the posts in a word document and will go through them myself first and then share with the engineers.

    A few questions -

    1) IS GPS NECESSARY/BENEFICIAL ON A PI UNIT?

    2) IS COLOR SCREEN MORE PREFERRED? ADVANTAGES / DISADVANTAGES

    3) ARE YOU OK WITH AN EXTERNAL CABLE AROUND THE SHAFT?

    4) COILS - SIZES AND SHAPES (3 PLEASE)

    5) IS 10 FT WATERPROOF GOOD ENOUGH?

PS. Sorry if any of these were mentioned already in the posts.... did not read them all yet.

It's totally doable, and IMHO it would be a HUGE hit (not to mention an awesome competitive differentiator) 👍

    Me also

I am going to give props where props are due I sent a PM to Dilek on Facebook and ask her if she could give a update as to when the PRO PACKs were expected to be shipped she responded back to me which I then suggested that she do an update on face book so it did not sound like a rumor coming from me which apparently she agreed with what I said and then the next day posted up the update she impressed me very much by actually responding to me and then implemented the update that laddie must be tireless because she made the update while on a trip to Germany for a metal detecting expo

    Thank you Dilek

No need to thank me... we thank you because you are the customer who is willing to spend money on our product and you have the right to get an answer to your question. I try my best to respond to every direct message and email although I must admit that sometimes I do forget or miss some as I get wat too many of them on a daily basis... I do like to interact with the actual end users and not only with distributors.

  12. OFFICIAL MESSAGE TO GARRETT

We are saddened to hear that Mrs. Garrett passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. Eleanor and Charles Garrett made great contributions to this industry!
Our sincere condolonces to the whole Garrett family and the community.
  13. Hi there....  I got an email from the poster of the video:

''I have deleted this video and have made this right with another video showing the tone break tips. And Calabash is deleting his video of my clips  too. I am getting away with the tone break at 9  and am having great results. I am sorry about the commotion. We are all learning with this machine and it is a powerful machine. Just a little adjustments to some settings will increase the odds at getting small gold with all machines. I can't wait for the 6" coil...it should be very fun. Keep smiling and cheers.''

    THANK YOU!!

OK NO ISSUES THANKS FOR SETTING US STRAIGHT ON THAT.

    Dear Abenson,

I have the most respect for all the members of this group and I am sorry if my post seemed like I was trying to set anybody straight.... was not the intent at all but it is getting very tiring to try correcting all this misinformation!

The machine is reacting the way it should to ID 11.

So when the machine is working perfectly fine, it is a bit upsetting to see people referring to it as an ''issue''.

It is all about learning the machine and reading the manual...

  15. HELLO ALL! THERE IS NO ISSUE!

PLEASE STOP MAKING INACCURATE COMMENTS/CONCLUSIONS ON THE LEGEND.                                                     1) READ THE MANUAL!! 2) IN THE VIDEO ABOVE:

    1) THERE IS NO BOTTLE CAP REJECTION ON THE MACHINE!

    2) PARK MODE IS DESIGNED FOR COIN AND JEWELRY HUNTING IN URBAN AREAS AND PARKS WHERE THERE ARE LOTS OF MODERN TRASH (ALUMINUM FOIL, PULL-TABS, BOTTLE CAPS ETC.) PRESENT. THIS MODE IS OPTIMIZED FOR MID TO LARGE COINS AND JEWELRY. THE DEFAULT DISCRIMINATION IS SET TO REJECT TARGET IDS UP TO AND INCLUDING 11 TO ELIMINATE IRON AS WELL AS ALUMINUM FOIL.
IF YOU SET THE TONE BREAK TO 10, THEN YOU WILL GET A NON-FERROUS TONE FOR THAT TARGET!!!

Hey Dilek!!  Do you ever sleep?  🙂

I'll do some bench testing to check out the new settings, and I'll ping you if I see anything that doesn't make sense. I'm looking forward to giving the Legend a workout!

I do sleep little...that's for sure:-) With all the time differences between the countries, sleeping more makes it hard for me to be  efficient.

    The Legend likes workouts:-)

I was one of the testers, we sent our test units back for a HW update in late December, and they sent a production unit back 👍

I'm planning a trip to the beach Sunday, will definitely do a beach video.

Hi there!!! As we have also incorporated a new setting for the beach, please ask me if you have any questions! Enjoy!

Steve is the best choice for a USA tester as he's done similar before, has the experience and know how, and knows what hes doing, as for Australia I would say JP but I'm not sure that's possible with his ties to Minelab.  There are so many good prospectors in Australia finding a lot of gold, the problem is it would need to be one that lives where the gold is, not someone that goes on prospecting trips once a year or something.

I know Steve is the best choice! But I don't know if he would want to, we will ask him anyways! Who knows, he may agree to it.
