At least your dealer can be contacted, I'm still waiting on the NZ clown to get back to me on my initial contact if he even ever does, It must be two weeks so far   Looks like I'm going to have to give up on getting a Simplex.

I will personally take care of you. We normally do not make direct sales and we respect dealers as long as they also show the same respect to end users who are the actual customers who spend their hard earned money. Will be in touch today.

  3. Copying my announcement on FB Simplex+ user group:

    IMPORTANT!

Hello everybody.. As per my previous announcement, we had to stop the production and shipments for 10 days due to a coil issue we had experienced especially in the UK. As of today, production has resumed and we will start from where we have left off.

One important change you should be aware of is that due to the material change, we had to make a slight change in the design of the coil to avoid any weight increase as per the picture attached.

We will ship the new coils to all customers who have contacted us with a coil issue on Wednesday or Thursday the latest. Each customer who has given us their email address will receive an email with their tracking number.

Another question that comes up is when will the second shipments go out? Please remember that we have many countries that have not even gotten their first shipment due to production and shipment halt for 10 days. Therefore, I will please ask everybody to be patient until we sit down this week and reschedule all. I will personally give you an update on each country early next week.

US and Canada shipments are the first in line leaving end of this week or Monday based on flight schedules.

Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience this has caused yet we are happy to resolve the issue on a timely manner and avoid any further issues.

I personally cannot thank enough to all who have been so patient and understanding. Your support and satisfaction has always been and will continue to be our biggest motivation!

I forwarded my email to him again this morning from a different email address (my gmail) just to be sure he's getting it thinking surely he'll reply now that I've tried again, it might jog his memory about my first email, but no.... nothing, try it, send the guy an email I bet he won't reply.  I doubt he checks the email address at all.

    atomic79ltd@gmail.com

Even if he eventually replies I could never give my money to this guy and trust him to deliver the goods, this is the 3rd time I've had the same experience of either not getting a reply at all or getting one months later just trying to buy a product from this outfit.  I would have tried to phone him but of course his partially working website doesn't provide a phone number to contact, only an email address at Gmail.  No street address either as it's run out of his house I guess.   I sent you an email about it yesterday Dilek under the name Simon.

Last time I emailed him in May, finally got a reply in August.

This entire thing is very disappointing, I realize it's not Nokta's fault however it sure reflects badly on the brand when this is our only place to attempt to buy Nokta in New Zealand.  I bet NZ sales numbers are VERY low.

I emailed you and asked you whether I can call you to ask a few questions. This is definitely not good for our business. Please check your email and thank you very much for the support!

  5. Hello all.... yes we had some coil issues and we acknowledged it publicly and sent an email to distributors as well. Copying and pasting my post from the UK user group:

    IMPORTANT!

    Dear Valued Customers,

As some of you may / may not know, we have experienced an issue with some of the coils in the UK.

The problem reported by users was falsing on wet vegetation or over sensitivity to high stubbles.

This has alarmed us to look into the issue but the failure not occurring with all the coils and being limited to a percentage of them, has actually made it harder for the quality department to find the underlying cause.

After literally working day and night and analyzing each coil material, they found out that the issue was due to one of the materials used in the coil from the supplier not being within the tolerance limits.

A high percentage of the coils pass the tests and work fine but as of Friday night, we stopped production and shipments and dumped all coils.

As much as this sounds upsetting and disappointing, we are actually happy to catch this at an early stage and make the right move.

As Simplex+ is an unrivalled product with its performance-price value, we do not want to jeopardize this by even letting a further small percentage of customers experience any issues.

And more importantly, we are ready to take this hit on our end rather than letting any of our valued end users be a part of this.

The new material is received and we are planning to resume shipments as early as next week.

Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused but we believe that our valued customers will appreciate our honesty and hard work and putting customer satisfaction before our commercial gains.

Please note that only a portion of the coils are affected by this. If you are experiencing no falsing in wet grass or high stubbles other than a minor chirping sometimes, please do not contact us panicking and please help us to replace those that are determined to be faulty and resume our regular shipping schedule.

Should you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Regards,

    Dilek

As expected the NZ Nokta dealer never returned my email even though email is his recommended point of contact.  He'll just put customers off buying Nokta as it's so difficult to do so. I've had the same experience every time I try buy a Nokta product and just give up.  He's replied to an email once a few weeks after I sent it.

    https://atomic79.co.nz/

Time to consider a real dealer Nokta perhaps one of the proper established ones like https://www.dredgenz.co.nz/ that has a retail store and operates like a real business if he's interested in taking Nokta on.

Hello there..can you please do me a favor and contact me at dilek.gonulay@noktadetectors.com as this is a concern for me and the company. Thank you so much!

Being it’s two models being offered one with wireless headphones and the other without can one go back later to get wireless headphones? Could it be the lower end model is not headphone ready?

I notice too that on the Simplex you block out 5 at a time when you discriminate.

     Chuck

There is actually only 1 device - SIMPLEX+. It is offered with and without headphones so yes you can add the headphones later on.

Keep innovating and raising the bar Nokta/Makro - just makes everyone work harder to put out quality equipment and value prices which is only good news for us detectorists.

Hmm...perhaps my friend Andy has another handbook to write...

THANK YOU! Believe me it is soo easy to use you do not need a book! Maybe a 1-page quick guide for the initial use:-) But of course if Andy is willing to write a book on it, it would be welcomed and appreciated on our end!

I know that the Simplex will come on the market with a large coil.  I want to know if a smaller coil be available right away for the Simplex? That’s a 6 are 7” round are some form of maybe a elliptical coil.

This question may have been ask before. If that’s the case please forgive me repeating the question.

If you ever plan on being in the western half of the US I for one would like to know.

I wish like others the best on the sell of the Simplex.

I thank you so much for coming on Steve’s forum and spending the time with us .

     Chuck

Thank you for the kind wishes. Yes, we will have a smaller coil available but not at launch... a little after...do not know when but it should not take too long. I believe the team is already working on a smaller DD 8.5'' round.

  10. Sorry to respond late guys...Please do not forget that although I am a strong character, I still am a woman and I get emotional when I read comments such as these and believe me I have no time to cry nowadays:-) Joke aside, I thank each one of you so much for these motivating, encouraging and rewarding comments that just make my work and life more meaningful as I devote so much time to my work that sometimes I feel like I am being unfair to my family and myself . But all these years that I have been working, I have realized that nothing could have made me happier than seeing this company grow to this level and knowing that I was part of that succeess. Once again thank you so much guys... and LowTide, thank you for the concern but I am actaully doing pretty well. It is true that my little daughter gets very unhappy from time to time and misses her mom but at the end of the day I feel like I am setting up a good example for her in terms of being a hardworking and a determined woman who does not give up and aims to be successful and most importantly  cares and helps others. That is the kind of woman I would want her to grow into instead of going after money only.

While I am glad to see this detector is nearing release I'm really wondering how many bugs will be in the initial offering units. In the grand scheme of things we really do not know how long they have worked on this but surely it has not been much time. How about some positives on this detector so far?

    • Waterproof to a reasonable depth
    • Looks strongly built
    • Backlit display
    • Non-complicated operation
    • Wireless audio capable (although not many details on that, do they mean their proprietary headphones or more generic compatibility like the Equinox has?)
    • Notch Capable
    • It's very reasonably priced

Now let's get on down to more technical stuff. It's single frequency with minor shifting to reduce interference it says. However, just how good is the shielding inside of this detector? How about the coil construction-is it worth having or is it a really cheaply made coil that will be weak in the field and pick up a lot of noise from the environment? These things matter a lot. We live in a world full of radio waves and electrical noise. To me personally what detector makers should be working on now is a better way to filter out interference.

There was some discussion on how this detector will process signals. Will it be a faster processing unit or slow as a tick.  While no one is expecting a high end detector at this price it would be truly annoying if this Simplex is a very slow swinging type detector, and unable to process at a speed which a lot of detectors do today.  Again, will this detector be using the cheapest components available with higher variation (think resistors and such, 5% vs 10% vs more, etc.)

The most important thing though is how will they service the customer after the sale. Will they ask you to send it in and keep it a couple months to repair it. We just don't know at this point. While I realize Dilek does a wonderful job one person can only do so much.

I'm not knocking Nokta/Makro or the Simplex. However what they do not have is the money and service presence a lot of older detector companies have. With any new product there WILL BE problems, and a bad release can tarnish a lot of people's memories for a very long time.  I remember when I bought my first detector and got back into detector after a decade of being away from the hobby. It was a Makro Multi Kruzer. I truly regret buying it because it was a lemon. And at that point and waiting quite a few days for a response concerning the problems they wanted pictures and video of the problem. By then I had already sucked it up and taken a loss, trading the machine off. So yes, I have seen the bad side of their units. When it did work a short amount of time before it got worse the target ID was very erratic, and the machine itself was very susceptible to interference. It never would ground balance, among the other problems.

Long story short, I'm not against trying another Nokta/Makro product but I would not be willing to spend a lot on a higher end model they offer until the company matures a bit more and has a higher service and repair presence with documented and maintained customer happiness after repairs. While we have already seen the demise of Tesoro, many others in this thread have thrown rocks at White's, Garrett, and First Texas/Teknetics/Fisher in an almost wishful way for them to fold up. If they do fold up, what will we have then? I will tell you what- Far worse prices and even less innovation and competition.  Nokta/Makro is doing us all a service by being competitive, and I will give them that. But are they Sprinters or marathoners? Those other companies mentioned above that are still in business are marathoners. They've been around a good while, especially Garrett and White's. Notice I'm not mentioning Minelab? I'm not because their arrogance and price gouging is well documented. Do they make good stuff- yes they sometimes do but charge us a lot of money for it and in the past their service sucked. It's better now but let's see how long they will maintain that.

Something is for certain, If there was less competition Minelab would go right back to how it was a short time ago, charging outrageous amounts of money for their product. And White's? Yeah I agree their stuff is overpriced too.  After some time out in the market, and after a fair amount of reports come back YES I would be willing to try the Simplex out.

Hello Rob. Just happened to read your post and would like to make a few comments ..hope you do not mind.

Please do not let the price of Simplex+ mislead you. As our Simplex+ video says, the only thing that is really entry level about this detector is its price. This is what we say as the manufacturer of the product and we will leave the rest to the actual users of the product to comment upon as whatever I say here will be biased.

Now regarding myself and service –  It is totally my personal choice to respond to end users and interact with them as I really enjoy it ...and more importantly I feel like I must understand the customer profile and their needs from first hand experience to be able to perform my job the best way I can as the Sales&Marketing Director of the company. Of course, Nokta Makro is not a one-man show.  I have a team of sales and operations guys reporting to me as well as many other departments who make it all happen. In addition, we now have a service center in the USA and the turn-around time is pretty good so far.

Are we sprinters or marathoners? I can only speak for the current team including myself as I do not know what the future will bring. All I can say is that we made an announcement end of 2014 when Nokta bought out Makro. Within that announcement we said ''...We will not only offer a richer product portfolio to our customers but address the whole market demand with products at different price levels.'' This is exactly what we have been doing for the past 5 years .... standing behind our word.

We have been working hard, really hard to reach where we are today and will continue to do so as the limit is the sky. However, regardless of where we end up, we can promise our customers that:

    1.     We will never forget the fact that we owe it all first to our end users

    2.     We will never close our ears and we will continue to listen to the actual users

    3.     We will maybe make mistakes but will always try to be open and honest about them

    4.     We will stand behind our products and our valued customers

Just wanted to point these out … thank you for giving me the opportunity to comment.

Yeah I see Big Boys has them discounted. I wonder if that’s a mistake as with Nokta/Makro the MSRP is usually the lowest allowable advertised price. It may be right but I won’t be surprised to see it go up to $299. I guess we will find out soon. If so some people get an extra good deal. And if it really is going out the door for $254 well that’s a double wow! That’s only $2 more than a Garrett Ace 250.

Yeah, I’m set for detectors personally so much as I like the looks of this I’m still cleaning house of excess units!

No it is not a mistake... let me tell you shortly what is going on in the most honest way I can. In the past, we had the distributor control the pricing in the USA. Our  list prices (MSRPs) were advertised as the MAP price  and higher MSRPs was advertised for our products . As of early this year, we have implemented a new distribution and MAP policy which allows dealers to discount the product 15% off our MSRPs. Many customers think that we have lowered our prices in the USA which is not the case actually. As the manufacturer and the owner of the brand, we just took control of the pricing in the USA (as it is supposed to be) to make our products more competitive and affordable for users in the market. Hope it is clear now. So, yes the Simplex+ USA MAP Price is $254.15. Thank you!

    Hello,

I am new at metal detecting and just but a Makro racer 2, also because of the Bluetooth option.

Now I'm trying to connect my own BT headphone but I don't know how. There's no description of this in the manual.

All the options in YouTube films doesn't work. Also there's no BT module which I can take out and f.e. replace with a BT dongle.

    Can someone help me?

My serial nb from the system box is : 9001442/ 07150

Hello Dave. I got your email as well. I am currently in Germany attending IWA.  I will forward your email to my team to check on the serial number but if there is no dummy dongle on the side of the display box, it means you have the later version of the Racer 2 with the wireless module built inside. Racer 2, by the way, does not have bluetooth connection but 2.4 GHz wireless so you would need our 2.4GHz headphones. Hope it is clear.
