  3. You can remove the SPP sticker to reveal GMT Super Pulse underneath it. Don't think he's used a GPZ. I do most of my detecting in very similar looking country & the GPZ cruises too. I doubt you'd be picking up anything a Zed would miss & in fact the 7000 would punch deeper IMO although depth may not be an issue on that ground anyway.
  4. Thanks for the reply Mal. I hadn't seen Oldhand say that he had been able to get GB with the other coils & thought settings may have been the issue. Have you tried the ferrite rings on the coil lead whilst on your GPX. Any difference on it if so?
  5. Reg will you be posting a report here at all. Warts & all? The above seems more of a sales pitch. Do you know of any issues with the ground balance that has been reported elsewhere. One user on AEGPF said he couldn't ground balance until he tried a NF 12 X 7 coil? Do you have a production model or is it the prototype for testers? On the training videos you can clearly hear some EMI spikes that the QED user acknowledges. Other users have indicated that it does get some spikes but not as bad as the GPX. One user indicated he couldn't get to within 50m of powerlines with the QED or a GPX he had. How is yours set up to dampen EMI further i.e. What setting is the SMF (6) set to & do you use the ferrite rings on the coil lead? I have seen some small gold found with it but was wondering what size/depth is the larger gold your finding?

" There is no FCC Compliance statement in the manual or on the detector which I believe is required once authorised as compliant for selling into the US. It passed the Australian version which is just as stringent, if not moreso, so it would most likely just be a matter of compliance testing, payment & authorisation? Doug of AEGPF stated on a thread on that forum something along the lines of it would be a long time before overseas sales were explored. Used might be the short term option?
  7. Don't think it has FCC compliance for sale or export to the USA yet? From what's been said on the AEGPF forum overseas sales are a long way off? It's reportedly up to a 2 month wait for one Downunder.
  8. Yeah point taken. The dodgy practice of drop shipping is becoming more of an issue here too but no doubt on a lot smaller scale. Ironically it's US detectors like Fisher, Garrett & Tesoro that have been dropped shipped here. It should be illegal to take full payment for anything that you don't physically have on hand IMO but that's another topic in itself.

You would also think that offering dealers any assistance they require to ensure your flagship detectors are on hand for perusal rather than offering "a little extra incentive to buy factory direct" or convincing them to carry flagship models would be more important to overall sales? Jeez if I was a dealer reading that I'd be livid! Hopefully the dealers have other brands that they can fall back on! Obviously Whites don't believe in sharing some of the inventory risk on their own products by allowing dealers to hold consignment stock of more expensive flagship lines or other slower moving ones? I don't know how Whites operate in the US but in Australia I'd hazard a guess that online sales make up a fair percentage of the total sales being only one distributor & a few satellite dealers though. I know any Whites detectors or gear I've purchased here has ALL been online. To not allow dealers to do this nowadays is hobbling them & in effect themselves too. I can't believe that they would disallow it?
  10. Yeah I'm sort of regretting mentioning it now. Even if it does hit the shelves its sounding more & more like it won't reach the claims that were thrown about? Looks like they've even started talking it down now - was to be the GPX/GPZ slayer or at least up there with them in performance & now it only needs to be better than the TDI & ATX to represent value? That's probably true but at the same time they've made the claims to so if I purchase one it should be what they have said not watered down. Even the battery dilemma looks a bit backyardish & off-putting.
  11. You can run your DD in mono (as above makes the DD a pseudo mono + more sensitive) & I believe for smooth type timings like enhance or fine gold it's recommended to do so. If you do run a DD in mono the target response will be on the left side of the coil to centre - more to centre for deeper targets & more to left for shallow. Probably not much use if you have mono coils but a worthwhile trick to know if you only have a DD for the 4500.
  12. I've used Avantree Bluetooth Saturn Pro low latency units on a few different detectors & I couldn't pick any noticeable delay whatsoever. I could pinpoint with them easily. They worked great on the SDC. Like anything it will vary depending on the person. If you do some research you will most likely find musicians/audio recorders etc. find anywhere between 10ms to 25ms starts to become noticeable especially in monitoring applications. To me they would have less tolerance with latency with far more complex sounds & even more than one source. Other applications can find latency acceptable up to 100ms for instance phone manufacturers reportedly aim for 100ms or less to allow normal conversation. Bluetooth is a type or protocol of wireless data transmission that uses radio frequency (RF). Others like Deteknix while not Bluetooth or Bluetooth compatible are a different proprietary type of transmission but still use RF. Not all Bluetooth is the same either. Performance can differ widely between products, version & codecs, such as aptX, used. There are some very good units around nowadays whether Bluetooth or other proprietary brands. Bottom line if YOU don't like using wireless then DON'T use it! Plenty of others do like it & any negatives are by far outweighed by the positives IMO.
  13. The kit has a transmitter which plugs into the headphone socket of the battery. The receiver goes on your headphones or booster/speaker. The will be of more benefit if your using the lightweight GPX Minelab battery or another aftermarket one that is kept in the control box cover pouch. Won't be of much benefit using the normal sized GPX Minelab battery in your harness pouch. You will still be wired to the detector for power anyway.
  14. The modded SPP's never really took Australia by storm either. In test conditions they showed promise & did appear to give the SDC a run for it's money but these results never seemed to get replicated by most in real detecting situations. The SDC still seems to hold a definite edge on small gold in Australian conditions but it should too at triple the cost.

  16. Currently the TDI Pro (Oz series) is $3300. I can get a new GPX4500 for that so down here the Whites prices are pretty rich in comparison to the Codan offerings
  17. Try 8+ years & quite a saga watching from the sidelines About the same amount of time Whites have been treading water. One thing that kills the TDI here (or most any US detectors) is the price mark up which doesn't seem to be in line with the exchange rate. I think the last time I checked the TDI SL was around $2500 here & that's too much for it IMO. If I want a gold finder for our conditions in that price range I'll get a used GPX or SDC or put a bit more towards new. It's a pity because I started out with Whites detectors & switched to Minelab. If & when the QED is released it could be a killer for the TDI here & even the GMT which is up around $1300 here especially being sold out of the same dealer? I think Whites really need to get out of their comfort zone & start moving forward. I'm sorry but rehashing an old model with a new battery & coil won't be enough for me to go back.
  18. Caution indeed! Some are basically ordering it sight unseen on the back of little more than hope. I too await for independent testing but can't help thinking that those who have been unhappy with using a Whites TDI or Garrett ATX in Australia won't find it any better? Time will tell I guess & there's been plenty of time for Bugs to iron the bugs out
  19. Is it true that the TDI OZ Pro has or will be discontinued. If so I see just having the TDI SL as going backwards especially here in Australia. Are there plans for a new PI with more grunt from White's? The TDI's as a whole may struggle to sell here at all soon. The sole Australian Whites distributor is set to also be the dealer for the QED release in the next week or so. Talk is it will outperform the TDI'S but be available much cheaper?   20. Plenty of spots downunder for a smaller coil too! In fact around my area it may displace the 14" as the main coil?
  21. Costs about that (Aud) to set a "Frankenstein" system up for the SDC now: $100+ - wireless rx/tx $30 - $200 - booster (to allow volume control) + speaker $100 - SDC adapter lead $??? - various other required adapter leads, batteries etc. Agree though hopefully it's cheaper than that.
  22. One reason I didn't put much faith in the air testing done was because I've experienced this with the GPZ14 coil a couple of times. Diminished signal once out of the hole & in one case all but lost the signal. I don't know the how's or why's but even with PI's I have found similar & believed the ground plays an important part in the performance. Maybe some have written it off way to early? Nice find & hope there's some bigger, deeper lumps waiting for you + the 19!

  24. Wonder if the supporting rods/braces are metal? Not that it'd matter greatly but I reckon you need to minimise metal on yourself with the GPZ. Carbon fibre or similar would be good.
