  1. Equinox does great here. I moved most modes to 5 tones and lower volume on what I feel is irritating.
  2. Where I live the soil is pretty hot and emi is bad. I bough a Simplex+ a couple years ago and had to get rid of it, as it couldn’t handle the soil and emi here. (Same with the MX Sport).
  3. 50 tones are a bit too much for me. It’s like a hot rod rumbling as it idles, then when you get a target, it’s like the hot rod engine revs up. For me, it’s distracting. I like to silent search until I get a target.
  4. That’s an interesting idea. A GPS coordinate readout could have been an alternate switchover, but we would pay over $2000 for it I would assume.
  5. I never thought it would show shapes, it places the metallic properties in different places, but maybe that’s just a linear crossover from the sound differences. Which, if you’re like me with hearing issues(from the military), it is a nice visual addition, plus the vibration on handle! I couldn’t resist, so I pre-ordered one.
  6. In the video the rep kind of side-stepped the waterproof leakage issue. She just said it is more rugged. So, that would indicate that the equinox was not rugged enough. If you look at a video from gigmaster on YouTube, he shows around the charging port as a weak area that leaks. So, ruggedness may fix the issue?
  7. Good tip. This video shows iron and a coin waved in front of the coil. The iron is discriminated, and the coin is not. Even though the iron is rejected it still shows both on the screen, which is pretty cool.
  8. I looked at Modern Detectors. They don’t give any freebies with military discount. I think the first wave will go to the biggest detector dealers.
  9. I wonder who is best to pre-order from? Does anyone know if ML will fill the bigger orders first form the larger dealers?
  10. I used my ML-80 headphones once after I bought the Equinox 800. A 2 years later I decided to use them, but they were dead. I put them on a charger overnight and they didn't charge, and I tried 3 more times, but they wouldn't work. They worked when on the charger but not off the charger. I called Minelab USA and told them that I used them one time. Apparently, my warranty ran out, so they said they could sell me a new pair for $130. I told them, no thank you! I opened the headphones up and found that the battery had burst. I ordered a battery of the same type and amp hours off of Ebay. I replaced the battery, and they work now. So Phrunt, keep checking your extra ML-80's.
  11. What I understood from ML, is that Gold 1 and Gold 2 had different algorithms to deal with the different soil types. Therefore, why would you want to match the two? I found gold 1 worked better than gold 2 for my area. Old arguments, I know!
  12. If they are, I would say they're getting a little too greedy. If the Deus 2 had better gold programming built-in, I would go with the Deus 2.
  13. One gold mode? You would think that something coming out of Australia would have more emphases on gold programming options. Now the question is, how much better it will be than the Equinox 800 for gold detection?
  14. I watched a YouTube video demonstration, it was somewhere in Europe, and these different people had a turn at searching/detecting with the Manticore across an open field. They were swinging so fast, it looked like they were trying to get to the train before it left. The coil was about 3-5 inches above the ground and no overlapping at all. It looked kind of hilarious. I swing about 2-3 seconds in one direction. These guys were about 1.5 seconds in both directions. I hope a person doesn't have to swing the Manticore that fast to use it properly.
  15. American’s are competitive and a new latest greatest detector makes us believe that we’ll have that competitive edge, so we go for it! Plus, new gadgets are exciting! But, $4000 exciting? I don’t think I can keep up. I don’t think that I have found enough to cover the detectors that I now have! 🤔 I’ll sit tight for awhile and wait for feedbacks.
  16. Yes, I was just curious about any false claims. The FCC restricts the power output of any public transmitter to 5 watts RMS. Regulated broadcast stations have different guidelines. So, would the Manticore battery have about 3/4 operation time as compared to the Equinox?
  17. You listed that there is a 50% increase in output power, what would that relate to in total transmitted output wattage?
  18. Has anyone asked if the Equinox coils will work on the Manticore?
  19. It was on an auction. I let it go. It went for $221 plus $16 shipping. I have 3 detectors to sell already. I don’t think that I would make much on it. Info on it was minimal.
  20. I think I'll be aiming more towards the Garrett Axiom!
  21. Hey, Are Minelab SD 2200D Super Detector’s worth much these days?
  22. I’m waiting for the holographic version which gives us a 3D view from all sides of what’s underground. A HoloManticoreGram version. 🤣
