  1. Has anyone used “Land Matters”  website to look for a prospecting site? I recently did, and today I went out to the selected spots. None of the topo photos were the same, some roads and trails don’t exist anymore. I also forgot to take my GPS...Those photos must be ancient!

yeah, I like it. I'm taking the prototype, and my aluminum unit, to Salmon today. Going to run some dredge tailings through mine, and work some ugly material through the proto...has clay in it. All this will be dry running. Will get some new video if all goes well.

    Peddle to the metal Jim!

You're welcome< Randy, of course. I was just thinking about you this afternoon, and wondering if the GMT showed up. Glad you like it. Hope you find a bunch of nuggets. Stay in touch,

    Jim

You should post your invention on here, with a video!

A guy in our local club is selling his GMT for $100. Has health issues. Great price for a really capable gold detector

    Jim.

Thanks a million Jim. I love this White’s GMT detector. Very sensitive, Good balance, makes it feel lighter than it is. Nice condition. You are the man!

What experts? Most of the information you are quoting originated from a Russian website that regularly makes things up out of thin air and I personally place no value in it’s accuracy. So hoax information? Probably. Minelab created? No.

I repeat over and over unless it comes direct from Minelab somebody is making it up. The ONLY information you will ever see from me you can absolutely know I have officially verified. In other words, if I don’t post it, official confirmation can not be found and it’s rumor.

I may as well toss in the towel though. Once the Russians post it spreads everywhere like gospel and it’s spitting in the wind trying to keep it at bay. I suppose it really does not matter anyway if people want to believe it all. Once Minelab reveals the facts we will know for sure. What’s annoying to me I guess is these guys get proven wrong time after time but it never matters. On the next go around they will do it again and nobody will question it.

So if the Russians make stuff up and Minelab does not deliver on the made up stuff it’s a disaster? If Minelab actually cared about that they could clear it up with official information, but they let it ride. I suspect just this discussion is a marketing plus. That being the case I think I really will just let it go.

So far the only reliable information is from two Minelab videos and a company annual report. The videos state clearly the machine has Multi-IQ. The annual report information states the machine falls above X-Terra and below Equinox in the lineup.

Most everything else is conjecture but we can place some safe bets. A display? You think?

I posted that to get backlash and hear if it was true or not. I'm glad it's not true.

  6. According to experts’ prognosis, the Minelab Vanquish detector will have the following technical specifications: not waterproof, 7/18,75 kHz, display, Multi-IQ technology, with target ID, with manual ground balance, with noise cancellation, multitone sound, with pinpoint and headphones. The search coil will be of a special Vanquish model, 12 DD. The expected weight is 1,2 kgs/ 2.6 lbs. However, other people with knowledge of the matter claim that this is a hoax created by Minelab to catch the hype and eventually make the new model popular regardless of its real characteristics. This is a smart move, of course, but in case the device does not meet the promised quality, the fail will be disastrous.

See the link I added to my post above. Bottom line good general purpose machine, very good modern park and beach machine for coins and especially jewelry. Weakest area is nugget detecting... don’t bother.

That’s what I was kinda thinking. Thanks!

I am sorry to hear that but good to know. Unfortunately nothing is 100% these days. Though by the way you are wording it you seem to be saying you paid with money orders and got ripped off? That I can see easily happening and I would not expect the Post Office to do anything about that. I mean that if you take a Postal Money Order they are generally safer than, for instance, a certified bank check. I still do not and won’t worry about taking Postal Money Orders, just did this week as a matter of fact. But mailing them as payment is no safer than mailing cash and I did not mean to imply otherwise.

I still prefer PayPal overall as long as you don’t purposefully override the built in protections by opting for family and friends to save a few bucks. Completely defeats the purpose of using PayPal in my opinion.

    Paypal only for me!

I have an extremely good nose for scams. You would not believe the things people have tried to pull over on me in over 35 years in retail. There is something not right about that whole Moe thing but if the people involved won't contact the authorities in Bethel to figure it out then there is nothing more I can do there.

Steve, I got stiffed with Postal Money Orders. The Post Office did squat to investigate. The scammer got his money cashed and split. Probably to another state.

  12. I just want to interject here and say, that I’ve been to a lot of forums on the net, but “Detector Prospector” is the best on the internet. A good place for non-biased information. Quick responses, non argumentative, a great group of contributors. I am glad that I joined. Hopefully we will all be here for the next several decades.

You should use the quote button to reply, that way it notifies Jim of Idaho of your intention to buy the detector.  The way you've done it he'd have to manually check this thread again, he may not do that?  Or you could private message of course.

    Thanks Phrunt!

Thanks Jim! I posted that I'd like to purchase it, but I replied wrong by not quoting. Thanks Phrunt
