I have ran my sdc very little but the warble doesn't seem to bother me anymore than running a TDI,actuallyto me its kind a soothing sound. It is easier for me to hear the slight change of tone with target with sdc than it is with TDI,just my opinion

I have never used many rechargeable batteries before, just wondering what you guys think may be the best and longest lasting of the many brands? I will mainly be charging C batteries for sdc 2300,and also some 9 volts for gold bug. I lost track of the thread that had some of this info. About recharging, and solar chargers. Thanks guys Rick

A Modern Day Treasure Story
Rick Watkins replied to plidn1's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Great stories, i have a short one also that drives me nuts when i think about the possibilities of a big coin find that will probobly never happen. There is a guy i contract haul for every november that wanted to buy a detector to look for gold coins on land they run cattle on in the John day area of oregon, he said that he and another guy were walking accross a small meadow that early pioneers had apparently cleared in the timbered area of their acreage. Story goes his buddy seen something on the ground picked up a $20 gold coin,he tried to give it to the landowner and he told him to keep it. So a couple years later the landowner is walking the same field same area and he finds another gold coin ,now he is starting to wonder why would these coins be here,he started looking around the area close to the coin finds and thinks possibly a farm implement may have uncovered more of the field near the big ponderosa pine tree nearest to the coins. Anyway he tells me this story and wants a detector to use when they go back to this rangeland he had never used a detector before but i ordered him a WHITE DFX and showed him the basics and told him these big coins should be fairly easy to hit with thisdetector and he could still use it for other hunts. The thing that bothers me is he has never took a detector back up with them 2 times a year he goes. Every november i ask him if he has detected yet nope he says,i always forget about it. I told him i would go up and hunt with him just to help him recover what else is there dont want a thing just the chance to possibly recover a very nice find. He says we will get up there every year now, 15 years have gone by now i dont think i will ever know the answer to the two gold coins, but i sure have some good ideas going on. -
Hi guys trying to figure out next step with some of the pieces to the left side not showing gold, they have amythest showing in them. This was a solid rock i dug out that had most of the gold localized in one end i had a friend slice it. I carefully fractured the end out with the gold in it into chunks then used strong percentage of HF to eat away the quartz untill the gold showed up,problem is i dont know what to do with these that have a lot of amethest showing but cant see the gold yet they hit big time with detectors,i just dont want to turn them into a pile of dust. I dont want to use acid on these to get gold to show but not sure of the next step, any ideas i think im going to sell some of this crystaline.

That is sweet, someone probobly sat under that tree years ago with a hole in his pocket. Is that the typical look for that gold in the area you guys were in? -
Nokta Announcement - Makro Acquisition
Rick Watkins replied to Nokta Detectors's topic in Nokta / Makro Metal Detectors
Wow sounds like nokta is shooting for the moon, maybe their research and development team will excell in the gold detectors quickly and give the consumers yet more quality choices in the future, isnt that whats needed to bring the prices down to affordability? Rick -
Targeting Specimen Type Gold With The SDC 2300
Rick Watkins replied to Reno Chris's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
Nice piece's chris,it's amazing what the 2300 can pickup after many, many other vlfs and pi's have been over. You have probobly about wore your 2300 out also this year. Do you and steve have an idea how many hours you guys have together on both machines this year? It doesn't sound like there are many issues with them so far. Guess i had better get my order in for one before they are obsolete. Glad to meet you this fall Chris it was very enlightening and informational to learn from you and steve. Hope to see you two again in 2015 somewhere. Rick. -

You guys have been doing very well with 2300' i see, have you used gold bugs near them working in same area, they shouldn't talk to each other should they? Been nice seeing everyones hunt results and feedback this season, hoping to get on a hunt in oct. In Nev. Ourselves before desert is white and frozen. -
Nokta FORS Gold Metal Detector
Rick Watkins replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Nokta / Makro Metal Detectors
Ya know it's probobly the first detector company that has a decent price and will work for them in africa and has strategic locations around the gold belt should make a killing off pure volume and parts alone. I dont think i would like to stay and run a store there though after looking at the overall conditions, and after watching posts from some of the guys that have been there. -
