  1. Before version 7, the pinpoint button activated the auto tune option automatically, which I didn't understand. Now it defaults to the traditional pinpoint mode. I noticed the same audio bug after upgrading to v7. After turning auto tune on and then back off while playing around, the pinpoint sound started working. Just a weird software glitch I guess.
  2. Just bought the 280. It seems to be built very sturdy. I'm having problems finding enough stuff to fill it up. Their is a lot more storage space than you would think. The relic bag is a little small for me, but the backpack is awesome.
  3. Hunted 7 hours last Saturday with Sensitive FT and Fast programs. I still had about half charge on the 9 inch coil. I think the people complaining about coil charge time are just not getting the coil charger connected good. That is one of the weak points for the Deus platform. I've never used the emergency charger. The info says 20min charge equals 2 hour of battery life. Even if it didn't charge on the fly, it wouldn't take long to get a couple more hours.
  4. Seems Jeff has it figured. Never looked at the French manual. It has General at 10, while the English version has it at 7. There is also a new #12 Beach P.
  5. Must be a typo. The default for general is 10. They might not have updated the manual yet. There is also #14 Fast 40 that isn't in the manual yet.
  6. I use Linux on my home computers. I have successfully updated several detectors using a Linux host with Windows installed as a guest inside Virtualbox. Just Google Virtualbox USB pass through for Mac.
  7. I am hesitant to jump on any of the lists because I'm not sure which coil to get. If I knew for sure that they were going to make a 5x9, then I would go for the 11". If there is definitely NOT going to be a 5x9, then I would wait for a 9". I wish XP would make an official statement on the 5x9 coil availability.
  8. I wasn't being fecitious with my question. I was curious if the new park 2 mode frequencies were weighted similar to the competition and hit better on smaller jewelry, or is this type of target just out of it's normal detection range. The competition really struggles with small jewelry in park 1.
  9. You both are correct. I made a blanket statement. The competition will call fringe depth targets iron, and sometimes high tone on nails. The problem for me is that I have found thinner chains than was being missed here around 1 inch deep in average soil with the competition without having to adjust tone breaks. You are asking me to suspend belief and trust that the Legend will do the same with soil introduced into the equation when it isn't even able to hit it in open air? It feels like criticism of the Legend isn't allowed. I criticized the competition when it was released because it wouldn't hit a coin on edge. They admitted there was a problem and fixed it. The competition didn't make rebuttal videos when youtubers were showing this stuff happening. They were doing us all a service by bringing it to their attention. If this detector is calling that chain iron in open air, then you will never find it, no matter the soil conditions, unless you hunt in all metal and dig every iron tone. Micro gold nuggets/jewelry and fringe depth targets affect all machines the same and IMOH isn't really relevant in this particular situation. I wouldn't be concerned if it was doing the exact same things as the competition.
  10. Is there a mode where gold numbers don't bleed into the iron/nail range? For example, the competition's iron range is 0 to -9. Gold starts at 1. Nails come in around -5 to -8.

  12. I definitely appreciate the open discussion with Dilek. You don't get that with many businesses today. I think Dilek, being the marketing lead, gets too hot/defensive when there is any criticism of their products. Just tell us there needs to be some tweaks made and send out an update. It creates more suspicion when a marketing director tells me their product is perfect.
  13. Mine is usually between 4 and 6. I think the fixed internal iron filter for the Legend is the culprit in this case. It just rubs me the wrong way when I see something with my own eyes, and being told I am wrong or there isn't a problem. Even the most expensive detectors have had problems. Look at the Cscope debacle.
  14. It sounds counter intuitive, but a slower recovery speed in rare cases can cause a comingled signal to be more pronounced (longer tones) vs a faster recovery speed where the same signal could be really small and fast and get lost in ground noise or iron falsing.
  15. I have to assume that Andy was also a tester since he was able to make this rebuttal video so quickly. He might have also gotten it early so he can write his Legend handbook. This is turning into a soap opera. The iron is on the same plane as the targets. This is basically the same as a nail board test (which is also almost useless). The test in question was with elevated iron which is a completely different test.
  16. That's what I was hinting at. User adjustable iron filtering is the only way to go. The only caveat was that it has to be completely open when iron bias is off. The current fixed iron settings for each mode would have to be removed. Maybe Dilek will clarify this mess later.
  17. Sorry, I thought you was being cheeky because I had posted the last two videos. I had already seen it. The nail board test is fun, but not a serious test because the nails are on the same plane as the coins. The better test of separation is with elevated iron, or iron under the target. I saw where Dilek just announced that they are adding an iron bias setting. I hope they remove the "fixed" iron filter and not add iron bias on top of it.
  18. This is getting interesting. Iffy made a not so flattering video and Dilek had to do damage control because of the optics. She is wrong about iron bias. The Equinox wasn't hitting the coins because of iron bias. Maybe the Legend's "fixed" iron filter needs to be tweaked or give an option to turn it off. Seems like the dime is getting masked. She says they can give you a setting where you could hit that dime.
  19. I rarely use gold mode, but the 5x9 coil is my favorite in iron. Decisions, decisions... My wife would probably threaten to divorce me if I bought both 😁
  20. Was asking Paystreak on his YouTube channel. He said that D1 and D2 mono are not exactly the same. He's still testing them.
  21. Kind of my thought also. I haven't seen anything official from XP regarding smaller coils for the D2. I've seen a couple peopleon the forums say that the D2 chip wouldn't fit in the 5x9 design, but not sure what source they are referencing.
  22. Just ran across Calabash's video on this subject. I think it might be able to replace them both. Maybe there will be more of these tests as more people start getting them in hand.
  23. Question for those of you that have experience with the tonal nuances of the Deus 1. Does Deus 2 mono mode = Deus 1? Did they successfully marry the two, or are the 2 machines just different animals? My power combo for the last few years has been the Equinox 800 followed by Deus 1 for clean up of co-mingled targets. Sold my Deus 1 (regret doing that). Is the Deus 2 able to take the place of the Equinox and Deus1?
  24. I've successfully updated the Vanquish, Equinox and Simplex using Windows 10 installed in virtualbox using a Linux host. You have to add yourself to the vboxusers group and reboot to get full bidirectional USB support. What distro are you running?
