Here's a list of some of the top ones for "no-cell service navigating". I use Avenza and sometimes Gaia. https://www.gaiagps.com/ https://www.avenzamaps.com/ https://www.onxmaps.com/ https://www.backcountrynavigator.com/

Very helpful reading.

Jasong, I’ll keep an eye on the Prescott Craigslist page. Not sure town is nearest to your storage site but I would keep an eye on Craigslist as that’s a top place for thieves to fence stolen items. Sorry to hear about the lost of your gear. Morgan Yavapai County, AZ

Grizz- great to hear you got your first chunk. I’ll be back on April 1st and look forward to meeting up. Morgan

Hi Julie, Thanks for the welcome. In Arizona I do miss the coast but that’s the compromise one makes to own a patch of the sun. But it’s worth it and the desert is very alive, at least at night. I love it. And there’s plenty of BLM land to roam around. best, Morgan

Hey Ken, I’m at the airport in Anch heading down to Reno for 2 weeks. I’ll give you a jangle when I get back. I’m sure you’re going to get that ring today!

Thanks phrunt ?. I really enjoy the stories of NZ. I spent a few months there fishing and enjoying the Southland experience when I was a young dude. A bit like Alaska minus the dang bears ?

I just realized I hadn't made an introduction although I've been following the forums daily for a few months. I'm Morgan and I've been in Alaska since 1980. I get a lot of enjoyment out of detecting as well as the advancing technology. A lot of the work I do is in ultrasonics so the concepts of eddy current, frequencies and penetration are very familiar. I've got a few detectors (well, 5) and other equipment. I'm trying to extricate myself from Alaska. The winters are long, cold and dark and make for a very short prospecting season. So, I've got one foot in Arizona and one still in AK. The forum's are a great resource and there's a bunch of great people here. Happy to be a part of the worldwide community. Thanks.

That sounds like a great idea, Dig it. I’m headed for Reno Monday but let us know if coffee or brew is on the horizon before then. Grizz12 as well. I’m in Sterling but work in Kenai so anywhere in between is good.

Hey there Grizz12, I’m taking an old friend out for a ride tomorrow and a look around. But I’d be happy to get out with you another day. Really hoping the snow will thin out a bit with some warmer weather (yea right). I’ll let you know when I get out next. Morgan

I’m down the road in Sterling. I think I’m going to head for Cooper Landing tomorrow for a little walking/detecting as well. Before the temps dive down on Thursday.

Problems With The Fisher F-Pulse
Filmalaska replied to Norm S's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
I seem to have lucked out on the one I recently bought. I’m not having any of the issues described. So far so good. -
I did contact Rob and ordered one. Thanks again.

Thanks Majuba, I just found his site and remember talking to him a few years back while in Prescott. Appreciate it.

Right on, thanks.

Howdy, Can anyone recommend where to buy a headphone adapter for Minelab’s proprietary headphone jack? thanks, Morgan

Wanting To Add A Third Detector
Filmalaska replied to Filmalaska's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
Thanks very much, Steve. I think I'm going with the Gold Bug 2 for the high frequency. And I'm seeing the GB2 with 6.5" and 10" coils for about $750 on Amazon. Morgan -
Wanting To Add A Third Detector
Filmalaska replied to Filmalaska's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
JW, Thanks for jumping in and for the leads. I’ve read quite a few of the reviews but haven’t looked closely at the Nox or Monster. I’ll go check them out and get back. best, Morgan -
Hi Steve, If there’s not too much snow on the ground I want to go up to Rye Patch to do some detecting this month (Dec). I’ve got an AT Gold and an Infinium (AKMD). I’m ready to add a third detector in the sub-$1500 range. In your opinion what will be a decent choice from the 2018 models/makes out there? I was leaning to the GB2 but any better suggestion will help. thanks much in advance, Morgan Evans (from Sterling but wintering in Sparks this year)
