  1. The AT Pro was my primary detector until I got the Equinox and the ORX. Most of my sites are full of old iron and nails. On these types of sites I would prefer the equinox or the ORX over the AT. I found that these two machines have much better separation in heavy iron than the AT. The recovery speed on the AT is much too slow. What type of sites do you hunt?
  2. I wish that I could help you more. I have the 9" elliptical on my ORX. I've heard the round is a little deeper than the elliptical. I haven't used the ORX enough yet to give a firm opinion on depth. My brother did dig a minie ball at 9" with his ORX with the elliptical coil. On my last hunt I took a tape measure with me and some of the minie balls I dug were around 7 to 8 inches max. The site has mild soil and nearly no trash. The ORX is basically my back-up detector. I usually switch to it when my arm gives out swinging the equinox.
  3. Check out some of Calabas Digger's YouTube videos. He has at least one showing depth test with the 9" found coil.
  4. Shoot! I broke the housing off my old AT Pro by just sitting it down too hard. It was only held on by two screws and plastic studs. I repaired it myself by using longer screws, epoxy and a hose clamp. It was plenty secure after that.
  5. A gold coin of any kind would be exciting! I have been to Dahlonega several times and have also visited the gold museum there. It is a neat little town.
  6. Deltadigger put a whippin' on me that day - lol. If I recall correctly all 3 locked on at a solid 19. No luck for me that day with silver. All I was able to find was a couple of buttons and some camp lead. Great finds!!
  7. I did try a different charger. I will check out your other suggestions. Thanks!
  8. I love my 800! The only thing that would improve it for me would be an 8 or 9 inch coil. This would help with the weight a little and would help me with my sites that have large amounts of iron. I hope Minelab eventually provides a larger selection of coils.
  9. Has anyone had this issue? Occasionally when charging my elliptical HF coil it will not start the 3 second on/3 seconds off indicator once it is charged. I changed it for hours yesterday and the most it would do would be that the light would occasionally flicker. Finally I took it off charge and the controller indicated that the coil was fully charged. The coil seems to function fine other than that. Thanks
  10. I never pay list price for my detectors. There is always a dealer willing to give a better price than what they list on their website. Just call several and get some quotes. I love my ORX. Though I am sure that it will be a stepping stone towards a Deus eventually. The weight alone makes it a pleasure to use. It seems to be wicked fast in iron-great separation!
  11. They were located on civil war camp site so I suspect that a case of bullets fell off of a wagon or was left behind
  12. To be so lucky!! The only person that I know that come close to something like that was my brother whom found 125 Minie balls in one hole.
  13. My days of swinging a 3 pounds or more detector are over! With modern materials, etc. there is very little need to continue to produce heavy, chunky machines IMO. I would rather spend the day swinging a light, well balanced, stable machine. I don't care how deep a new machine will go if I can't swing it all day without being strapped to the machine! ? I believe that I will find more with a good quality light machine that I can swing for 8 hours vs. a supercharged monster that I can only swing for 1 hour. Not everyone is 25 years old and built like the Hulk. LOL
  14. Great finds with the nox!! So far I have only been able to find a couple of small portions of destroyed Breast plate.
  15. Wow! An 8 over 7 Standing Liberty!!!!! I would love to find any year date of a standing liberty. Wonderful relics also!
  16. Nice find! I have had war nickels read higher than 13 or 14 but never a 21 that I can recall.
  17. Blemished or not, it is still a beautiful coin and a great find!!
