  1. The unpleasant effect of unloading your truck with all your gear! Now, I don't mind loading it up with the same gear and I more than enjoy the hunt for nuggets. My poor truck is always stuffed with gear and I'm glad I had the forethought of purchasing a Dodge Mega Cab which is also packed with stuff I don't want to get wet during the trip! I've also, slept countless night in the back Cab as the seats fold down big and flat. But, unloading it is a chore that I must be medicated for! I had a fun Veterans Day Week hunt in the High Desert...can't wait to load my truck up again, but...Until the next hunt! LuckyLundy
  2. Silver Dog Doug, the founder of that chunk is and old Family friend. He brought it over to my house to show and it's and anchor of a double arm full of Wowness! He was detecting the middle of a wash when he heard this hub cap target! It's a great find to a dedicated detectorist like him. LuckyLundy
  3. Tasman, l've found Chevrons in California, couple counties below you. Crystal gold was formed when it was cooling. I've never found a Chevron that was connected to a host rock and only a couple of regular type nuggets at Rye Patch that had Quartz on it. Now, I'm no expert on how gold formation to get their shape(s). And I'm sure I can research on how Mother Nature formed Chevron nuggets? But, I have to leave a few things a mystery! Now if you want to talk about Big Foots, I'm your man, lol Rick
  4. 15% is still mighty short to what other Countries will be paying for this new coil. Now, I'm from California and use to being charged more for a gallon of fuel, pound of ground beef and so on. You have to be rich to live in this State...Yes, I'm stupid! But not stupid with my $$$...I'm shopping with my Greenbacks, Malaysia, Mexico? You see me swinging one, you know I did my homework!
  5. Tazman, I'm not even and expert at the many different crystal forms of gold. But the one on my tailgate is a Chevron, which in my book is a form of crystalline too! You dig up enough of them Northern Nevada nuggets, you'll find all kinds of different types of crystalline shapes. Almost, like them old boxes of Cracker Jacks...a prize in every Here's a past hunt poke from there with a Cube nugget and a few other Rye Patch Chevron shapes. Rick
  6. As of today we can purchase $1.33 of AUD for $1.00 USD...$1,500 USD is crazy! I'm shopping overseas! LuckyLundy
  7. Norm, is that Crystal Lite Butter, could make a difference! Rick
  8. Jason, Never found a double Prong Horn like that! The one that sticks in my mind was 3/4 inch long, and I wasn't going to dig it, cause it sounded like a wire. But, it was a slow day for targets...dig them all out there, not much trash in spots! Rick
  9. Some of Northern Nevada placers hold some true works of art! Most are covered by a tough coating of caliche, I always have a bottle of CLR in the back of my truck and at the end of the day's hunt they get their baths to show their special features. Most of these special chevron or other crystal type nuggets never make it home and end up with another prospectors poke/collection. My favorite are the nuggets that have crystalline features on both sides of the nugget. Here are a couple that I've found in the last month that didn't make it home with me. Until the next hunt. Feel free to show your favorite nugget(s) on this thread! LuckyLundy
  10. Randy, You have a great hunt! Always nice running into you out in the middle of nowhere! Your getting good with your 7000 as well. Stay dry! Rick
  11. Someone buy one of these so I can see it work on a Patch or two of mine! LuckyLundy
  12. Rob, didn't hunt your lower section this trip...but, I've pulled a few pokes out of that area, there's still some nice gold to find there if you have the time to hunt it! See ya soon Rick
  13. JW, l've been skunked by my Wife, more than I care to admit to! It's all about the hunt, getting your mind off on what's going on around the world. Enjoy this hobby and lick your wounds from this skunk...have a beer or two never hurt things either, lol Rick
  14. Condor, The perfect setup, to swing the GPZ is very important to your psychological, physical & mental awareness. Don't even toss the heat factor into a place with no trees! Sounds like your well on your way to the perfect rig! No need walking past old patches low & slow will get them to bite. Black Widows are my Favorite headphones...they cover my big ears and toon the rest of the world out, so all you hear is the sound of the dirt. Once you have everything dialed in and are comfy, you become one with your metal detector. Keep adding to your poke, until the next hunt. LuckyLundy
  15. Fred, your right. Tonight's Weather Report for NorCal has a Weather front moving in...I'm only a couple hundred miles to Rye Patch, makes it easy if you guess the weather wrong! Strick, stopped by a camper just like yours expecting to see you and Lisa...it was another couple out hunting nuggets. I always leave a few for the next trip! Rick
  16. This time of year in the High Desert you have to be and arm chair Meteorogist! It was the best, the type of Weather you can hunt all day without busting a single bead of sweat! 4 1/2 days of smiles before I had to toss the towel in and head back home to Robin. I couldn't establish any new ground on this hunt, but my old spots didn't let me down! My next few trips out to Rye Patch will be swinging for new spots to add to the old spots. Wish a Patch would replenish its self like a favorite fishing hole...well that would be to easy! Until the next hunt LuckyLundy
  17. To consistently find gold, you must learn your detector, with a quality set of Headphones! I currently swing the GPZ and know it's the best detector I've ever owned. My GPX, I knew was the best and I hope what ever detector you swing is the best in your mind! All the mentioned information above is sound advice to consistently fill your poke. Until the next hunt! LuckyLundy
  18. Peg, You've turned into a great detectorist! Your a sponge for knowledge in our hobby of finding nuggets and your poke is showing your efforts. Rudy and a couple of the crew are out there right now on our newest hot spot and making me wish I was on the hunt with them. I will be out there next week for several days and look forward to seeing you sometime this season, so you can give me a lesson! Until the next hunt LuckyLundy
  19. Art, That is one hell of a Jeep! In my much younger days I bought a new 1978 Renegade CJ5. One of the first upgrades to its besides a lift kit and bigger tires was and extra gas tank. I installed it under the rear seat, which raised it 4" so a regular person could sit back there without licking their knees...lol. Nowadays, they have a cool extra fuel tank that fits behind your spare tire. Looking forward to seeing you and checking out that new ride! Rick
  20. Art, cant believe the Mercedes died on you! It was a good vehicle to you...hope Rudy & I, recognize you in the desert with a new vehicle! Happy hunting for a new one Rick
  21. Condor, You recieved my premium hunt package! Rudy, is back out there picking up what we missed. Glad you had a great trip and look forward to visiting a couple patches of yours one day...make that one cool day! Until the next hunt LuckyLundy
  22. Mitch, Pretty soon, you can invite me to a patch of yours! Good shooting Rick
  23. Condor, I couldn't believe, you stayed a few more days! I was deep fried. Rudy and I, had a great time detecting with you...hope our humor didn't offend, lol. I can guarantee you, you can use the same low and slow in Yuma to increase the growth of your poke. I've been up in the woods a couple times this week and it seemed like a cake walk detecting under the big pines all day vs Rye Patch death hunt! Cooler days are a page away on my Calendar...thank goodness! Until the next hunt Rick
  24. AuWanderer, I've seen your videos and pictures...your to modest! Your a 1%'er with your GPX Rick
