  1. AuWanderer, I've seen your videos and pictures...your to modest! Your a 1%'er with your GPX Rick
  2. AuWanderer, No 28 dwts not Grams if it was grams that's like 28 x 1.55 = 43.4 grams! Dwts are easy on my mind there is only 20 dwts per ounce vs 31.1 grams to and ounce...but I sell them either way people like to buy them at, lol. Rick
  3. Many thanks for helping me post my photo to the story! I have the photo sizer downloaded now. Finding gold and understanding terrain features is second nature to me...I downloaded all technical stuff when I retired from the US Air Force, lol. There is a million places to hunt nuggets, if your close to one spend the time to learn your local area. You may think it's been hunted out! Rick
  4. Many of you may know my GPZ gave the ghost up and I shipped it back to Mother Minelab. It took a little over 7 weeks for my new one to arrive. Needless to say, it set me back on my Mid Summer hunting...which was fine since its been a warm one! Well I planned a trip to Rye Patch with my Buddy Rudy to hunt a couple spots and ran into a guy named Condor out in the desert. He said, he was from Yuma and I asked him if he was lost, lol. 3 days of swinging in the mid 90's had me running back to my cooler and finding shade under my truck! It wasn't 3 good days of detecting as far as solid hours go, but we made best of the time we spent behind our coils. The heat really pulled my Mojo away, as I was dwindling and finding myself not wanting to dig iffy targets, time to head home when that happens. There's always another hunt and now I'm home recouping my Mojo. Until the next hunt, little over 28 dwts in the photo...Geez, I can't upload the photo...you can visit my FaceBook Page Rick Lundquest - Wolf Pack Detecting LuckyLundy
  5. Paul, Don't worry about your plate of food, I eat it! Rick
  6. Peg, So happy for you! No nugget comes easy hunting trashy NorCal locations, you have to weed your way through the trash. Always keep in the back of your mind "Dig them all and let the scoop sort them out". You can't dig all the trash in one day and the same goes with nuggets! Continue, your California visit with a big fat poke of gold...talk soon LuckyLundy
  7. Strick, Some sweet finds! You have to suffer through the bad days to get to the good days!!! LuckyLundy
  8. Calgeo, I luv them short sweet hunts! Especially, in this heat Rick
  9. Merton, You know how this game goes! Some days you wish you stayed home and other days you wish the day was longer. But, you can't dig them all in one day and there is always one left for the next trip. Great exercise in God's Country and you never know what you'll dig up, if you dig enough holes, lol. Freaking hot down here and looking to head back to the high country very soon. Talk to you soon! Rick & Robin
  10. Like the Country Music Song goes; Hunting, Fishing & Prospecting Every Day! Even though I am Retired, I hardly hunt or fish anymore...prospecting gives me the same fuzzy wuzzies! Nice little patch of nuggets is like a school of hungry fish or flocks of birds for some fast wing shooting and skunks go right along with fishing and hunting just like prospecting! This time of the year it's about escaping the Summer heat and head to the higher hills for a hunt in some cooler temps. There are countless old prospects in the high Motherlode some are no good, some fair and some you just keep your mouth shut! There is one guarantee, all have trash...the more trash in my little black book, the better the gold was for the old timers. These old haunts, you have to dig your share of trashy booming targets, cause the one you don't dig will end up in someone's poke and not your poke. Well here is one, somebody won't be digging behind me, Dig them all and let the scoop sort them out, is and old saying of mine. But, even I can't dig all them booming trash sounding targets. Here is the dry weight in grams 23.78 and the wet suspended weight 19.17. Hope someone checks my math, I came up with 14.12 grams of gold in the Quartz! Until the next hunt LuckyLundy
  11. I hate trash...lol. But, sometimes I begging for something to dig! Rick
  12. Still little patches of snow in the high country! Hated to head home to the Valley and the heat. Rick
  13. AuWanderer, They never weigh enough, but they do add up! Maybe some Steaks, Lobsters and premium Beers will be on the menu...but, no new Side by Side, lol Rick
  14. Keep digging and grinning! Until the next hunt LuckyLundy
  15. AUWanderer, I have a ton of places that have yet had the SDC or GPZ on. This little Hydro Pit, we pounded a few years back and I know we left way more than we found today for our next visit. I'm sure your in the same boat...just not enough time to swing all them old patches! Talk soon, Rick
  16. Well we made a hike out to another old haunt of ours with our new Metal Detectors to give it a go! Well the new toys did find a handful of nuggets our old GPX's and GB2's couldn't hear. Nice cool day in the woods, until the next hunt! LuckyLundy Well still having a problem with my little videos...here a couple pictures
  17. AU, very common with that handle! Before the new detectors came out I was going to find a Machinist with a CAD machine to cut me one made of aluminum...maybe you can follow my thoughts and report back. Rick
  18. Merton, You've always have a full tackle box of metal detectors! It's a great hobby, we all have to enjoy the metal detector we can afford to swing. As Fred mentioned, you can put lip stick on a pig, but in the end its still a pig with the same old technology in the box! I'm not happy, with the quality of my SDC knuckle or the problem with the collapsing shaft (use tape to keep it tight) or my GPZ suffering ED problem with its limping coil and now suffering my main menu button to work. But at the end of the day Minelab rules the market and keeps me and my gold buys happy! Waiting for the day of a cheaper better quality mouse trap to fill my hand and my poke. LuckyLundy
  19. Well don't know if my little video worked out? Here is some photos
  20. The older I get the more I hate hot weather! So we headed out to find a few spots in the high country for this Summer hunts. We found a few spots, that will receive more of our attention during the hot months. Until the next hunt LuckyLundy
  21. Paul, Hey that guide arm is very important! You better slide it on, mine has been there since day one...don't know what I'd do without it...lol Rick
  22. Scott, I'm with ya sitting in the sideline...maybe ML will send me one to give it a go...lol. You can talk all day about a bigger coil going deeper for a large nugget, but ML doesn't talk about if it has the same sensitivity to the bread and butter nuggets we are finding with the GPZ stock coil. Most see it for myself in the goldfields...seeing is believing for 1500 bones! Rick
