  1. Here is our pokes! Rudy and I, we're fighting it out for the lead in total Wieght before he landed his fat one. Scales showing in dwts Rick
  2. Paying your dues at one of America's most pounded gold bearing ground, is no joke! Thousands of acres of land to swing your coil, it's a daunting thought of where to start your hunt if you don't know the area. I put in numerous hunts with no rattle in the poke bottle. But, you start learning as you pickup a nugget or two and the puzzle pieces start to fit. My buddy Rudy and I, hit Rye Patch for a 7 day hunt, we only lasted 6 days! I don't know if it was the heat during the hunt or the beers after the hunt, but we couldn't do one more day! We both swing the GPZ, but use total different modes, you may have heard me say you can't run this machine wrong. Find what modes and setting you like and master it. We'd call each other over to listen to see if one of ours ran better than the other on whisper nugget signals. We each heard, the smallest signals we could find for each other and finally gave up the challenge of the best settings for the GPZ. The one thing in common is a very slow swing of your coil and a good pair of headphones (not the stock ones, another story). Well back to our hunt! Nuggets where biting here and there, but we couldn't land one over a penny weight, several are close. But, in our book if it's not a dwt'er its a dink nugget. Dinks are the bread and butter, but we wanted some steak & lobster nuggets. Well late afternoon on the last full day hunt, Rudy radios me to get the shovel from my truck. As I'm getting the shovel a couple of other fellow prospector's introduced theirselves to me and I lead them with me to Rudy and his deep hole. A couple of good shovel fulls of dirt and the target was out. 7.3 dwts at 16" deep on a old pounded patch...Priceless! We had a blast on our 6 day hunt and we met some new friends in the high desert search for gold. Our total Wieght was a little over 27 dwts. Did I see there is a new download for the GPZ...do I have to...lol. Until the next hunt, low and slow LuckyLundy
  3. Just got home from there...it was a hot 6 days there mid to high 80's. Looks like cooler weather is on its way...of course after I leave...lol Rick
  4. I use to love my Pro Swing 45. This week at Rye Patch it met its match and was falling apart on me. Stitching came undone and my J bar needs something besides Gorilla Glue. Without the Hip Stick attached to my broken Pro Swing, I would have suffered big time! Now I need to find someone with and industrial sewing machine to fix my Pro Swing 45. Rick
  5. Condor, Your more than right, ground conditions may have a detectorist seek a different setting. I've found nuggets in all the settings, yet High Yield/Normal is my go to setting. You can't run the GPZ wrong unless it's not turned on! Until the next hunt LuckyLundy
  6. Condor, That High Yield/Normal is the ticket! LuckyLundy
  7. WesD, They'd have to come knocking on my door to get it back...lol Rick
  8. Mitch & Lu, Thanks for the Chicken Wings! Lu, is a Trooper and is well on her way of mastering GB Pro. Your GPZ, will fill a poke up fast, just a low slow swing of your coil. Look forward to seeing you two in the goldfields with a bucket of Chicken Wings! Rick
  9. Chuck, Now your talking! The 2300, is fun and very capable...but, that bigger coil on the GPZ make the 2300 to take the back seat. Rick
  10. Spencer, There's plenty of nuggets to dig there! Just a very slow coil swing to make them give you a little bark to your ears. LuckyLundy
  11. Art, I always leave a few! To many bushes out there. Now Rudy finds the Big ones and doesn't bother with the dinks...lol Hope to see ya soon, Rick
  12. Steve, no Quartz...it's the cliche stuck in the Cheverons! Strick, Robin couldn't get them in her hands either...GB2 was the only ticket for these little guys! Better hunt that high country before it gets snowed in...just drop me a line we are only a couple hours to that area. Scott, those where some awesome Rib Eyes! Hope you yanked a Chevron out of the dirt. Rick
  13. We had a great club outing at Rye Patch, NV. I tell you the heat was on, fighting lite hangovers, extra full stomachs from the great foods and the open vastness of Rye Patch to find a nugget. Robin & I, finally got to meet "Doc" after years of phone conversations and many other new friends. Well enough of the mushy stuff...the hunt was fun and we all found some color. I've said it before and I will say it again! The SDC 2300 will put up a fantastic fight against his bigger brother the GPZ 7000. But my choice is the GPZ and my Wife Robin's is the SDC, the best of both worlds. I did a couple of test with both detectors. One of my tones with the GPZ is a guaranteed sound of a nugget. This was a hardly audible one but good enough to call Robin over with her SDC for a listen. Well she couldn't hear it, I had to kick the dirt down a couple of inches before she heard it and on the GPZ it was now a solid nugget tone. Now, I didn't reverse this test with the detectors. But in one tight spot, another partner pulled 5 nuggets out with his SDC and swiping it very slow with my GPZ, I could hear little nugget tones but could not get them in my hand...got tired of chasing them around. I told another fellow to hit that spot with his GoldBug 2 and he ended up with a smile on his face! Bottom line is, learn your detector they all will find what your looking for...I hunt for gold and here is our hunting parties pokes. Until the next hunt LuckyLundy
  14. It's been the Summer of spending Pokes! New carpet through out the house, new flooring in the downstairs bathroom with a new fancy Toliet. Now tackling, my moved out college Daughters bathroom! Took out the tub and replacing it with a shower, then some new flooring & New toilet. This is no hobby of mine, this keeps me from my real hobby...I need a new patch of gold, running out of cold beers in the garage frig! Rick
  15. Strick, That GPZ, is the ticket! It's hard to put that SDC down cause it's so much fun. But for the big meal the GPZ is the Chefs choice. Looking forward to seeing that nugget in person. Rick & Robin
  16. I'm sure the current SDC can be made with a much better user design. Vast majority of the time (99.9%) I don't need a heavy waterproof metal detector. The SDC, should be a little heavier than a GB2 and easy to swing...I hope ML is working on the Dry Land Base Model SDC for the 99% of us that use it on dry land...don't care about a bigger coil. It finds plenty of gold with current 8" coil. Rick
  17. Calmark, For them tough spots or shallow bedrock, I use my Wife's 2300...if I can get it out of her Paws! Rick
  18. Dan, is a great guy and I look forward to something besides cold Sandwhiches from my cooler...lol Rick
  19. The SDC 2300, is a fantastic detector and I lost count of the nuggets I've found with it. I sold my 2300 and upgraded to the Big Brother GPZ 7000. What I noticed with the GPZ, it finds the same nuggets...but deeper and it has a bigger coil to cover some ground with. Now, a bunch in our group still swing the 2300 and I don't push the 7000 advantage on them. I know the 2300 can put up a mighty good fight with its Big Brother 7000. This mornings hunt was one of them days, no skunks just smiling faces! Until the next hunt. LuckyLundy
  20. Do not quit your day job for this hobby! I like a can of baked beans as well as the next guy, as long as them beans are sharing the plate with a juicy Ribeye...lol. One great hobby we have and yes Stamp collecting is easier, until the next hunt. LuckyLundy
