  1. Bob, All your patches will be sent to my 7000 GPS. I don't even know if mine works, I think this machine would be one pound lighter without the GPS...lol. No worries, your GPS cords are safe and sound within your unit on or off. Rick
  2. Jason, Hey thanks for helping me out with your GB2...one day I just might learn to pin point them little nug's with that big coil...see ya in the goldfields! Lunk, Just a matter of time, I know this machine is special and is starting to add some Wieght to the Poke! Rick
  3. Wow, what a trip! A few of us got together for a little outing at Rye Patch and 9 days later I'm finally home. I was excited to run the GPZ on some proven SDC ground and was more than happy with my results. The SDC gave the GPZ a run for the money and it even skunked me one day. But, the GPZ can reach down for them deeper nuggets and hold its own on the shallow ones too! The SDC is just right for my Wife Robin and the GPZ gives me a good workout for a days detecting and a good nights sleep too! Here is the finds before one of our days lunch breaks! Until the next hunt LuckyLundy
  4. There is no dought in my metal detecting mind the GPZ is much better...Way Better! LuckyLundy
  5. The Hip Stick with the Pro Swing 45 is a must have item to swing the 7000 or GP/GPX for a long day detecting! Rick
  6. Fred, Call Minelab, they will send a new battery out to you! Good luck and get that thing in action Rick
  7. Well many of you know it's my Big day of the year! St. Patrick's Day is my Birthday, hence LuckyLundy! In true form, I get up and enjoy my coffee and read the morning paper. Done with the morning routine, I grab my gear and head out for my Birthday hunt. The Little Leprechaun, was kind to me again this year and he tossed me a bone from his pot of gold. This target wasn't even a target, just a noisy spot that I thought I better checkout as I'm learning the deep sounds of the new GPZ. Needless to say, it was pretty deep and this patch was well worked over by all previous Minelab PI models. It hit the scale at 5.87 dwts...Until the next hunt! LuckyLundy
  8. Also, using Very Deep it will skip a bunch of Bird Shot! Which is great in a few locations for everyone Rick
  9. I'm experimenting with Auto Smoothing. This really settles the 7000 down and haven't noticed a loss of depth, but much easier to hear the small changes in the Threshold. LuckyLundy
  10. Diggerdude, That sounds like hard work, hard rock mining! Hope you show us some rich chunks and welcome aboard. LuckyLundy
  11. Rudy, Now I will agree that your GP 3000 is in its own class. After years of watching you dig up nuggets right behind the group hunts with our GPX's. You will admit it's the most beat up detector around and they don't fix them anymore, mat least Minelab doesn't. So you may as well get with the program and upgrade to the GPZ. See ya tomorrow for the hunt! Rick
  12. Lunk, Great shooting! I can only swing my 7000 till its battery runs out of juice 5 days a week...lol. Keep that coil on the ground and Until the next hunt! LuckyLundy
  13. Paul, They have shoes there to fit your size 17 feet! I'm use to seeing you barefooted...lol Rick
  14. I have several pairs of metal free boots! All the brands are a little different fit wise. To bad LA Police Gear doesn't have a place a person can try the different brands on at one place to achieve the perfect fit for your feet! Happy boot shopping, LuckyLundy
  15. Ok, Luck or Lucky! I was born on St. Patrick's Day, which is fast approaching, no reminders please! That Nickname, I've had since I was a kid. I can think back on my life and tell you I have been lucky in life. Or was it the way I was raised as a child to set goals and achieve them. I was fortunate to have many mentors throughout my years to point out my miss steeps, so I could get back in step. Prospecting was no different. As a young 18 year old, I was all ears listening to my Dad's friends telling us the ins and outs of dredging in the chilly creeks of Prescott, AZ. I took all my gain knowledge and parlayed. Lucky you bet! Now, those with the new GPZ are still learning the new detector. I will say, I have found gold with mine that has been pounded by many of America's best gold detectorist. Chris & Steve, have written not to expect to find gold on every single old patch you have is very clear. My SDC & GPZ, have not found any gold on several old patches. But the gold that they have found on old patches brings a smile to your face and makes you shake your head...I am Lucky, Until the next hunt! LuckyLundy
  16. Now I need a patch full of that gold...lol. Great read guys! Keep the great work up...Until the next hunt LuckyLundy
  17. Art, You ran into some of our group members out at Rye Patch. Rudy, and his GP 3000 is a legend and constantly makes us shake our heads. The Alaska Boyz, are die hards and always have a smile on their faces with or without nuggets. Here is Rudy's nugget all cleaned up. Glad we helped you out Art, you have a great machine there is no dought in my mind. LuckyLundy
  18. Another idea. If your GPZ is acting up and your thinking about sending it in for a checkup. Why not just hook it up to your computer to the Minelab Doctor page and run diagnosis and fix it at home? LuckyLundy
  19. Russ, Hey great detecting! That fresh air and excercise will help your health, keep the great work up! LuckyLundy
  20. Good read! I have a bunch of Buddies out at Rye Patch as I write this note. They have the 7000, 2300 & one GP3000 die hard. Needless to say the 3000 friend has the largest nugget so far of the trip @ 18" deep to boot. All gold metal detectors will find gold! What makes the real difference is the operator and their knowledge of their equipment. You may not own the greatest or latest gold detector out there. if you have a gold detector learn it and make it work for you! Until the next hunt LuckyLundy
  21. From reading the above your choice to choose the right detector is like picking out the right fishing lure or which weapon to best suit the outing. All these sports/hobbies are similar which my garage spare space will account. I can only hope, that my detector choice for the days hunt is the right one for the type of gold that I intend to hunt. Is there a perfect all around detector...time will tell. Until the next hunt LuckyLundy
  22. Steve, your forum will receive all my/our adventures in our hobby! Thanks for drawing a line...to draw the most talented and new detectorist to receive sound information and to find a good deal. One stop information forum, this leaves the flavor of a Medium Rare Rib Eye in my mouth...your a Genius! LuckyLundy
