  1. Depends on the Hunt! If I have to hump a mile, it’s only one detector! If it’s a new spot, more than likely it will be something light weight. SDC 2300 or VLF, if I can establish small gold with one of these the next trip will be the 7000 for the depth. Repeat if necessary, fun digging them little dink’s! Rick
  2. Z, A slow and steady swing of any detectors coil, is a major factor in finding nuggets. If I’m swing on and old patch or a juicy looking spot, my coil is real slow. I’m not so much of a believer of a machine charging the ground, it’s giving the little extra time for your detector to send your ears then brain to comprehend as a target, with a slow swing. Your next slow coil target, give it a test, swing your coil over it faster...lots of times you won’t hear this target at your normal coil swing speed. Remember, this slow swing isn’t what you want to do Patch Hunting, your only looking for one shallow nugget when out hunting new ground. You find that one and back off a couple notches and slow your coil swing to help establish if you stumbled onto a patch. Your deep sounding nuggets sound vary and most will sound just like a little dink nugget...you always hope with each swing of your pick that it’s a deep one which will get louder as your hole gets deeper! Keep on swinging! LuckyLundy
  3. Great Hunt! There’s Gold there, just have to get your coil over it, WTG Rick
  4. Wow! I was looking for two old patches and I can find them! I know I riding right past them...I hate the thought of swinging 500 acres to see if I can find them again. WTG, Great trip and you did just miss a season ending storm that set the perfect GPZ dirt back to wet and noisy! Rick
  5. Oh, another thing about the RZR 570! Seems funny being the smallest of the models that it has the largest back storage of them! Motor is in rear and not under you so you can have a regular conversation without being drowned out with engine noise! Cover all open spaces under the seats with good duct tape to block dust (at least I think it helps 😂)
  6. I left yesterday mid day! I did pass a Jeep closely following another vehicle on the main dirt road as I was heading to the Damn Dam! Good luck Rick
  7. The 570, is small two large guys fit nicely or Wife and two small Dogs. I have mine with and aftermarket Rack on the rear for added storage! I have my gun rack on the Racks Bars with hold my 7000 with a death grip. I can set another detector between the Rack and the top roll cage...of course must have cooler. Tusk Storage bags inside keeps dust off things that don’t need to get dusty (TP). One of the most important things on any Side by Side is maintenance and service. One thing Polaris has is easy access to change your Drive Belt. I have other Buddies with different brands and to change a bad belt in the field is a major deal. The shocks on the 570 make it ride like a tank...that’s my next upgrade.
  8. Brian, Just let me know! Empty patches with no Prospectors. I could have used and extra coil putting a pattern together out there! Rick
  9. I know there is a premium price for Side by Sides down in your parts! To me they are just as important as your vehicle you use to get to the Gold Fields. I use my truck now as base camp, saving the fuel and wear and tear on it sitting. I got a 50” wide model so it fits right between the fender wells of my truck. Being so small, it will get you thru the trees of Northern California and wiggle in between the Sage Brush of the High desert. The engine in my RZR is a 570 goes plenty fast and gets crazy good gas mileage. Carries a ton of gear and hasn’t let me down. Rick
  10. It’s Called the UVbeast 2. It did a good job, I think they make a #3? But, not sure it’s in a Flashlight form? Must be a reason I didn’t get that one.
  11. Yes, I have the next size up one! And yes! Has more depth than the small one! But, My Wife likes the small one and when she isn’t Prospecting with me, I use it as my PinPointer instead of fishing around with the GPZ 7000...if the 2300 is in easy walking distance from the RZR. Rick
  12. As a few of you may know October in the High Desert is the time to be there! This October, I hardly seen another prospector! Seen, more folks scouting for hunting season than anything. I gave a few Chuckar & Antelope Hunters a pointy finger. But, the Goldfields pretty much empty and to myself. Well, with the Sun setting earlier and 7 pm, just a little early to rack out. I bought a big Black Light Flashlight, to hunt some glow in the dark rocks for our new rock garden area of our backyard. It was fun, riding the RZR around the desert at night shining that light off to the side. Seen all kids of stuff that reflects at night. Some I didn’t bother picking up as you can see. I need to find some other glow in the dark minerals other than Orange, lol. But, my 2 days was spent collecting a few nuggets also. There’s gold out there, just need to get your coil over them...Until the next Hunt! Rick
  13. Leave it on! It’s more sensitive and makes the 2300 nearly a pleasure to swing!
  14. Phrunt, That Little Coiltek is the McDaddy! I’m the type of person, that has to see equipment preform in the gold fields. One of our group members went ahead and purchased it and he was finding nuggets on a Patch that we pounded with the stock round. Plus, believe, it or not! Makes the awkward 2300 nicer to swing with a straight coil, verses it being kicked off to the side. But, it’s just My Humble Opinion. I will tell you I like Ribeye 🥩 Steaks, lol. Rick
  15. Not that I wanted to see if it could be done, it’s only 130 miles! My Wife Robin, needed to dig a nugget...she hasn’t been out since our move to Reno. Now, you always have a mental note of stuff to pack. We loaded her Grand Cherokee, for this adventure off we go! Arrived to a location, I figured she’d have some luck at with her SDC 2300. Gearing up, I’m looking for both of our new Doc’s Scoops...What the Heck! Left them both at home! Well, I know I’ve used my hand as a scoop a few times! But, onetime I forgot my scoop and as I was recovering a nugget I opened my hand to see the target and a Scorpion crawled out of my hand and the nugget went sky high, I later found its landing spot. Since then, I’ve learned that a cut water bottle will get ya by as a scoop and save you from tossing good target to the wind. Well, needless to say Robin got her fix of digging/finding some gold with her detector in and old patch, that both of us and countless others have swung on before! Nuggets are funny, some days they are like fish biting all day and other days not a bite! But, the Hunt and adventure is the most important to balance your inner self, Gold is just the bonus in our hobby! Until the next hunt! LuckyLundy
  16. Peg, It was great hunting with you all, there’s a million spots to find gold out in the High Desert! Very happy, that your hard work paid off with a nice handful of nuggets. I’m restocked and my truck is loaded up, until the next hunt! Rick
  17. Peg, your very good detectorist! You got the big one and earned all the nuggets in your poke! Good hunting with you and the Boyz! Marley, enjoyed your company too! Rick
  18. Phrunt, anyone, can find gold right behind me! No one gets them all and I’m at the top of that list! Makes me go back to old patches and rework the good ones...always something left to keep you smiling 😁
  19. Steve, it was a thin folded nugget, little less than 2 dwts. Someone will want it for their collection! Chevron’s are getting harder to add to the poke! Rick
  20. With Landscaping the new backyard at a stand still (needing a break 😂). I packed up for a trip to Rye Patch to met up with some friends for a hunt! We had a great time chasing nuggets down and enjoying the nice but windy weather! Another hunting party text me and enticed me with Whiskey and Steaks for a pointy finger hunt. Well, it was a great dinner, but the next morning hunt wasn’t what was expected! Feeling the steam leaving my body, I knew it was time to head home to recharge myself for the next hunt! The nuggets are out there just have to get your coil over them. I found some old Levi Strauss Buttons and wondered about the fellow of yesterday wondering around without is jeans 👖 on 😳. Until the next hunt! Rick
  21. ColoradoOro, Hey, I remember our visit! That Gold Monster works, and right at your camp spot is still a good spot for that Monster! You keep swinging that machine and anytime you back out this was drop me a line. Rick
  22. Sweating, that’s his drinking bowl too, out hunting! Doc’s new scoops are deeper than the normal Treasure Scoops, he enjoys the extra time drinking all my water I carry for the both of us, lol Rick
  23. I was back out to Rye Patch for a short hunt with Condor, Steve from Yuma! It was in the mid 90’s for this hunt and needless to say it takes a toll on your mental ability and cold water supply! But, we both found some color! Here’s my slim pickings poke and looking for cooler weather and more quality time behind my coil on some of my favorite grounds. Until the next Hunt! LuckyLundy
