It's always a pleasure to see a student unearth their first gold; congrats again, Dave.

From a previous post: “A hopper crystal is a form of crystal, the shape of which resembles that of a pyramidal hopper container. The edges of hopper crystals are fully developed, but the interior spaces are not filled in. This results in what appears to be a hollowed out step lattice formation, as if someone had removed interior sections of the individual crystals. In fact, the "removed" sections never filled in, because the crystal was growing so rapidly that there was not enough time (or material) to fill in the gaps. The interior edges of a hopper crystal still show the crystal form characteristic to the specific mineral, and so appear to be a series of smaller and smaller stepped down miniature versions of the original crystal."

I've only ever found one small gold-quartz specimen at Rye Patch; definitely a mystery as to why the vast majority of Rye Patch nuggets found are free of quartz. Looking forward to helping out at the upcoming detector training class, Gerry. The weather forecast for the 3 days looks fantastic - sunny and 70+ degrees!😎

Looks Like The Garrett Storm Is Already Sold Out

Looks like you’ll need to get the new GPZ 8000 to find enough gold to pay for your Storm. -
Howdy Arky, this is the extended forecast from the Weather Bug app: We are getting quite a bit of rain today, but it looks like we will be good to go after this weekend.

Speaking of speakers, it would be nice to see a small (no larger than 3”x3”x1”), rugged, clip-on, wearable type speaker with adjustable volume and a mute button, 10-hour minimum battery life, with IPX7 dustproof and waterproof rating…something like this.- 78 replies

Jason, from what I'm seeing running the DOD X-coil prototype for the Axiom, I have to say it's the latter case; it seems to have about the same sensitivity as the stock Axiom 11”x7” mono coil in all modes except for the Fine mode, where it won’t ground balance at all in moderately mineralized soil. I've decided not to waste any more time with the coil, so I won’t be posting a separate thread about it after all, since this prototype coil has no performance advantage over the stock coil…sorry guys.
