  1. WTG Fred...big or small, the Zed will find them all!
  2. I won't even try to dissuade you from your horrific plan Rusty, because I like pie.?Just make sure it doesn't have high fructose corn syrup this time, lol!
  3. Twenty years of experience does make a difference, but judging from your posts you're doing just fine Fred - best of luck to you. I really appreciate the kind words guys, thanks.
  4. WTG! Good thing you didn't have any cavities to have to fill with the gold.?
  5. Fred, I have found nuggets under the rock piles, but typically they can show up anywhere within (and outside) of the raked areas. Beside me? Most say they want to walk in front of me...swinging their detector! ?
  6. Well Dave, I'm too young to care and old enough not to give a sh!#...lol!?
  7. No worries Condor, those are some nice "corn flake" nuggets...good shooting!
  8. Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone!
  9. It's no-frills desert camping for me...I'm no stranger to austerity. Weather is sunny; climate data here: http://www.usclimatedata.com/climate/quartzsite/arizona/united-states/usaz0180
  10. Well, there's an old prospectors' saying - a nugget in the wash is worth ten on the hill...
  11. No, just illustrating what an old, worked-out patch looks like.
  12. Today I'm one year older and the poke is seven nuggets golder! It's also a special day because I unearthed Quartzsite nugget number three-hundred. Who knew there were that many pieces of gold hiding in these old, worked-out patches?? Good luck out there!
  13. Steve H. had a couple of tips here: Free bonus tip, do not forget about the hidden reset button on the WM 12 as shown below. Also, keep the module in clear line of sight with the pod on the GPZ. The signal has a hard time going through the human body so keep the module on your side closest to the hand gripping the GPZ.
  14. That's some bad-ass Baja prospecting; congrats on more hard-won gold!
  15. One of those desert tortoises followed me around while I was detecting a few years back, also near Q; who knows, maybe it's the same one?
  16. Happy birthday Lucky, way to hook a nugget! Wonder if it works with marshmallows?
  17. Great finds! I believe your strange horse shoe is actually an ox shoe: http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/111393-oxen-shoes
  18. Sorry Steve, didn't mean to usurp your response...my bad!?
  19. I will venture a guess and say that perhaps the gold is alloyed with some other mineral(s) that give the nugget as a whole extremely weak coductivity? It's definitely a head-scratcher. Is there a physicist in the room?
  20. No GPS required for me - I never forget where I've found nuggets, and I couldn't get lost in the desert if I tried because there are always landmarks to go by, but put me downtown in a big city in the middle of a bunch of skyscrapers, and I get all kinds of turned around in no time, lol!
  21. Dave, you've hit the nail on the head. I knew I'd find some gold going over old patches with the Zed, but to find 300 nuggets, and some sizeable ones at that? It's a real eye opener. And yes, fewer trash targets is a definite benifit to reworking old nugget patches! ?
  22. As much as I love nugget hunting the RP area, there's a saying amongst us old nuggetshooters, and quoting the legendary Smokey Baird: "never quit gold to find gold." Besides, I'm liking the warmer weather that has driven out the majority of snowbirds already. But I will be there in time for the 3-day detector training for Gerry's Detectors on April 8 through 10.
  23. Unfortunately Strick, there are WAY more thorns than nuggets, lol.
  24. It's true, and one of the reasons I have been concentrating on these old patches is to see how much of an improvement the ZVT technology is over the PI, and I can honestly say that it is as revolutionary as PI is over VLF.
  25. Indeed, one never wants that jumping cholla cactus in the foreground.?I'd much rather take on a rattlesnake than get n a fight with that prickly green hell, lol!
