  1. Not sure what makes the D2 not relaxing or difficult. Once you set it up it's a turn on and go machine. Actually one of the easiest machines to run. 5 tone pwm in single frequency is pretty easy to follow. I often use 2 tone or 5 tone when relic hunting and full tone square for coin/jewelry. D2 does have a good advantage of being able to range the smf as well as run it in a wide range of single frequencies which makes it incredibly versatile. I always wanted an F75 but weight is a downside, D2 has me spoiled 🙂
  2. Toss a Steve G carbon middle and lower shaft and Apex is very well balanced. Not a huge weight difference but the machine feels better swinging than the D2 with 9". Apex does handle wet salt sand very well. Extremely quiet machine. Hopefully the new machine will add tracking so transitions between wet and dry sand are smooth.
  3. Usually even in bad ground if the area is dryer ie top of hills as an example the copper alloys hold up bit better. Get into low wet lands then they are usaully toast.
  4. Way better shape IHP than I usually see here. Apex gets bit of a bad rap. Maybe because the audio is so short and doesn't have the modulation as many machines they are accustomed to like the ML, XP and even AT series. I have an Apex myself though don't use it nearly as much as my Tesoros I have done incredibly well with it. I have the stock Viper, Raider and Ultimate 9" which really works well on that machine. I noticed slower sweep speeds really helps at least around here where the ground is rich in iron. For what it is worth My buddy and i did target for target comparisons with Apex and 9" ultimate and XP D2 with 9" for coin shooting. Both were pretty equal. XP did a little better on identifying aluminum trash but probably because I had it in 40khz smf and the Apex did bit better identifying iron targets but again that was at 20khz multi. Depth wise I would say the Apex has a slight edge with that coil but not enough to rush out and buy one. Reaper coil does ok but emi and mineralization smothers it here so depth gain is not really worth the weight. Iron trash in the fields makes it much more likely to mask out. On sanded beaches however it is very deep so people beach combing might like it. Suppose it won't hurt but do ya think Garrett could offer an update to add a pro audio mode like the AT Pro had? I had asked Garrett a bunch of times but get the silence treatment. They are really missing the boat on that machine. I know some people like that short blip but considering the Hybrid audio has almost no modulation it makes the machine difficult to hunt for fringe targets in old sites without relying on the screen.
  5. I was a little late in getting more done. Did get a small batch of park probes out. https://www.ebay.com/itm/276423995110?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=-5lIdJmkRTe&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY HH, Ken
  6. That is true. It still becomes an issue when someone is shopping for a detector they have limited scope on comparing different machines. Someone new is more likely to then just snag some cheap pos from ebay or amazon as they have little guidance. YouTube is laughable with all the bs hype about different machines and apple and oranges comparisons.
  7. Late chiming in here, it is never good to compete with your resellers. Seems like they want to maximize profits but the downside of selling direct is you have to hit the pavement and start peddling product. That can be a daunting and expensive task when your resellers would be doing that for you on a much larger scale. Customer support is the next issue as when you have no dealers representing and assisting products then thats the other task that is needed. End of the day it's better to leave the footwork to the dealers and concentrate on designing and building products.
  8. I use a rechargeable 9v lithium in the carrot.
  9. Weight can be an issue especially if the machine is not balanced well. The Spectrum I believe is fairly well balanced with the box under the cuff.
  10. Buddy bought a Vaquero from Rick and hadn't used it too much. He has been using his Apex and my AT Pro. Other day we hit an old field we picked the hell out of with the Vaquero and found a really nice 1858 flying eagle. Now it's becoming his favorite machine.
  11. If it has been heavily developed then lidar maps may not show much. Another option is either the town hall for records or their local library. Should be some archives there. HH
  12. Very clean machine. Good for those nail beds. Surprised it hasn't been scoffed up yet.
  13. Apparently that Indian artifact that jingled still has some powers. Been raining since you found it 😞 Nice run!
  14. Had a similar issue and was the coil. Garrett replaced it and it works well. Higher trash areas you may want to get the 5x8.
  15. There was a delta 8x9 on ebay, I assume your looking for epsilon?
  16. Can only imagine what machines you use lol
  17. That's awesome. Hard to read the date on it, did you try flipping it over and looking on the piece that is missing? :)
  18. Nice area and very cool ring. Aluminum looks like slag, get lots of that where people toss their cans in camp fires. Probably among the most annoying trash to try to pull good targets from but also good sign that people sat around drinking and possibly losing good stuff. Definitely a good spot to pick through with a small coil.
  19. Not a very big market for a single tone analog machine so to build even just one model and try to recover the costs involved makes it a losing venture. Deeptech does have that niche covered and have some innovative models for those looking for analog machines. Hard to outsell all the bells and whistles out there even when those single tone beepers are still so effective.

    The New Guy!

Last year you could have snagged a Gold Kruzer new in box for just over $300 because it was rumored they were being discontinued. Few months later there was a change of heart. Electronically the Gold Kruzer, Multi Kruzer and Anfibio are good machines. I personally had issues from day 1 with my Multi Kruzer with leaking. Though it was a tiny leak it caused falsing on the unit when tipped and fogging behind the screen. Took me forever to trace it down as I thought it was near the cabling, then thought I had a bad gasket and finally traced the leak down to a flaw in the case itself. Not a weak spot but rather where and how it was molded. By then the machine was well out of warranty. I also had trouble trying to source an internal battery and trying to source a stock battery from service fell on deaf ears so I was able to find one on ebay and put that in. Fixed the leak and my Brother In Law now has the machine and its running well for him as I have moved on from Nokta. Other option would be the Garrett 24k but not sure if that is in your budget range. Sometimes you can get them as open box. As for the Orx I have heard good things about the eliptical Hf coil. I had an Orx for a bit and it is a nice machine but I had purchased it with the 9" round hf coil that didn't work well in my neck of the woods and type of hunting I do. I believe there is a waterproof kit you can use on the Orx as well.
  21. At first glance it looks like you can polish floors with it too. Really cool!
  22. Got a batch of park probes and hand diggers out. Was set back with bad weather so I couldn't run the forge. For those who maybe interested the Hand diggers are here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/276293370990?hash=item40545e446e:g:YqUAAOSw6P9lqtkn&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA0NDFasPJEWvKjwPsJqeehLzgXXcK%2B2Cnc8yhmpowSFOjVy1jxZvGCaIjaENunx0toytmzYCw6SKV3tgpemc3ukKbDGiKv%2BSh83EO%2BwDiomwYOVSgRZyUDGSSDTE0XIaVLl4J1GclkRyvRR7TRwBKpQV3mB68qWMbxe2aTyZjiCLUzZkKI2y4cIjUPrqOUJifALZYpWl4lncGJsdl9FLk%2FARdIa8Im5fL2IZZqhhxea2HBq1mF4kl6EaUFy6WzTIktceSOOMnraondXxCkW9nqdA%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR5iIhuKpYw and Park Probes here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/315094928249?hash=item495d1f0b79:g:H3MAAOSw1zxi1LiJ&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA0AnM8Qu8676bnE%2FpXEVrz0OwUDratQ1TmlUazfeaKM65x3Q8lNv4Y4Cjv5UeVS3RpLUnGbNB9q0s1%2BkR4mT8bLJmteHu4%2FmQlM6EiDkQmRZ41S17vXdZAldCn67zHQfJCRfFkztPJx9tg5xqUT3tOkpmYSMmnBcReW7EyN3B9mgyyJwwPT0nMmBNvaw33umG5EEXjj1bO1inxcWwV6hi%2FAi1s%2FznQWoGz8uqBhXqbwlVIlkLJhDkzWhUkh9Rr15%2FkIRMZIw26nerIEt44Bkhyzw%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR5iIhuKpYw Thanks, Ken
