Thought the plastic ones could chafe the cable. Velcro seems to work ok here. I like the idea of the snake skins (braided tube) but probably a pain if you change coils frequently

Nevermind. Specs say software based discrim.

I keep this area secret don’t want a lot of hunters digging up the place. I will tell you the area dates back to 1850’s.
So longitude and latitude coordinates are probably out of the question.
Nice little seated, where you able to clean it up at all?

Not sure if anyone knows but does the F5 have a true Threshold based discrimination (where you see no TID on targets below the threshold set)?
Seems majority of digital machines simply turn off the audio when discriminating.
Thanks

I had used a Gold Racer for jewelry hunting and coin shooting in parks etc. I did ok with it, even found a trime in some pretty tough grounds. It is a prospecting machine and intended for natural occurring gold that is very different than jewlery where the gold is alloyed with other metals. So my experience with a gold machine for hunting jewelry is they are overkill and too sensitive where you are hitting tiny bits of foil. Lack of discrimination can make them very exhausting to hunt in trashy areas especially around can slaw and foil that has been shredded by mowers. The lack of coil choices and their depth performance in rich black soil when wet also is a drawback.
Majority of the jewelry I have found is with machines in the 14-20 khz range. If the machine has a good coil and sensitive enough you should be able to find the majority of gold with them. Most the rings, almost all earrings and chains I found had been between the iron range to below nickels with the exception of large platinum and 10k class ring. Jewelry does not always give a consistent tid as many look for, the odd shapes and positioning in the ground can make them easy to walk over. Best tip I could say is if you really have to discrim out then do it on a known pull flip tab that is in the area and do that at a minimum. Better the audio on the machine the easier it is as id ranges are all over. l tend to lean to 17.5-20khz range.

New macine losing screws?
Toss some thread locker on them. Dab of krazy glue on the threads will work too.

When using 2 tone or Deep mode on the Multi Kruzer if you are not skimming the ground and gb isn't spot on it can be really chatty and difficult to pick out targets. Not sure why the air gap is needed. Did you try to manually adjust the gb?
I find those deep modes not very effective other than maybe a quick target check on fringe targets.

My only experience with Detech coils is they are well built and good around emi. I don't think tossing a bigger coil on the Simplex would make it much better and really depends on what and where your hunting. I can't either way if the Simplex is a good or bad machine but seen couple guys in my neck of the woods do pretty well with them but nothing earth shattering.
Now if they had a 9" ultimate for it then that might be a good alternative to the stock coil but they are pretty pricey.

Curious if you put the Legend's audio to max and turn down on the headphones, would that help?

Check with a local university or try to pick Chris Ralphs brains for more info is my suggestion.
Nice to have it as is no matter what.

Construction is same as all the civ war buttons I have found. Front dies are different but construction, size etc are same and done by a company in CT. I forget the name. I probably posted some here.
-
Back is very similar to buttons made by CT factory. Might be from them.

Is there a shrink issue with the epoxy when it reaches full cure?
-
Button looks like same construction of the civ war buttons. Got a front view on that?

Was unusual, knew it was old but threw me because of the design then saw that glimps of a date.
Luckily my bucket list is a work in progress so I add to it as I go so it is always complete.
This one is added 🙂

Was waiting for buddy to hollar for a permission hunt so in the meantime figured I'd take a quick run around the corner from my house and take a few swings. First coin a 1763 Danish Indies 24 Skilling. Paper thin silver in with iron. Trusty Tejon sniffed it out nicely. Later that day the permission hunt was crap lol.

Fisher F5 Question On Discrimination
in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics

When you use the threshold discriminator do you still see the numbers? Majority of VDI machines the discriminator only turns off the audio but don't actually filter out the targets.
