  1. At first glance it looks like you can polish floors with it too. Really cool!
  2. Got a batch of park probes and hand diggers out. Was set back with bad weather so I couldn't run the forge. For those who maybe interested the Hand diggers are here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/276293370990?hash=item40545e446e:g:YqUAAOSw6P9lqtkn&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA0NDFasPJEWvKjwPsJqeehLzgXXcK%2B2Cnc8yhmpowSFOjVy1jxZvGCaIjaENunx0toytmzYCw6SKV3tgpemc3ukKbDGiKv%2BSh83EO%2BwDiomwYOVSgRZyUDGSSDTE0XIaVLl4J1GclkRyvRR7TRwBKpQV3mB68qWMbxe2aTyZjiCLUzZkKI2y4cIjUPrqOUJifALZYpWl4lncGJsdl9FLk%2FARdIa8Im5fL2IZZqhhxea2HBq1mF4kl6EaUFy6WzTIktceSOOMnraondXxCkW9nqdA%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR5iIhuKpYw and Park Probes here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/315094928249?hash=item495d1f0b79:g:H3MAAOSw1zxi1LiJ&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA0AnM8Qu8676bnE%2FpXEVrz0OwUDratQ1TmlUazfeaKM65x3Q8lNv4Y4Cjv5UeVS3RpLUnGbNB9q0s1%2BkR4mT8bLJmteHu4%2FmQlM6EiDkQmRZ41S17vXdZAldCn67zHQfJCRfFkztPJx9tg5xqUT3tOkpmYSMmnBcReW7EyN3B9mgyyJwwPT0nMmBNvaw33umG5EEXjj1bO1inxcWwV6hi%2FAi1s%2FznQWoGz8uqBhXqbwlVIlkLJhDkzWhUkh9Rr15%2FkIRMZIw26nerIEt44Bkhyzw%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR5iIhuKpYw Thanks, Ken

    The New Guy!

For a while the Gold Kruzer was on the chopping block. As an owner of the Multi Kruzer the control box had some design flaws so mine wasn't so waterproof. How does the Orx with eliptical hf coil compare to the Gold Bug Pro? It is in a similar price range.
  5. Got a similar model just for that. When I first used it the images weren't as clear as I expected but figured for the money it wasn't all that bad..... After a half hour or so using it I realized there is a little clear dust cap that I forgot to remove 🤣
  6. Now that I know you guys have good books I can just ask if you can id for me 🙂 Can start with this what I think is a spanish copper. Can't quite make out the date on it LOL Copper Cob or Copper Blob?
  7. Any inclusions in the stone, tiny bubbles? Could be moissanite. Color refractions, no inclusions is man made or lab.
  8. That would be a good comparison a d2 with largest coil vs the abyss.
  9. Good to know because usually big coils can miss the smaller stuff. Looks like they have a good balance on depth and sensitivity. In the field with D2 and 9" coil I picked up half a trime at 7-8" and a merc at 12". Both using 14khz smf With that in mind I have to figure do I want another machine or should I snag the 11x13 for my D2 which I think will be horribly nose heavy. Leaning towards a heavier machine that is better balanced.
  10. How is it on small silvers like a trime or half dime?
  11. Congrats! Wasn't that the spot Chase was hunting the last time you guys were out? :)
  12. Thanks. But the threshold doesn't seem to fluctuate with the ground like all metal. Seems more like a self induced tinnitus with no relevance to hearing targets.
  13. Got into the D2 clan late in the game only used the version before briefly then updated to 2.0. Had hell of a time trying to update the headphones because i was using a charging cable and not a data cable... who woulda thunk they would dumb down one of the wires in the spaghetti charging cluster. Anyways no knock issues at all here and I run in a good range of soils and beaches. Seems to handle EMI well and can run it between 90-97 sensitivity in almost all the places I hunt. Have to say once set up it's one of the easiest machines I have used Little off topic on this but one thing I am not fond of is the gold field mode. Seems the threshold is just a random background hum with no reaction to the ground and the vco is too quick and sparky so it is difficult to judge size and depth. Having tested it against my Gold Racer with stock coil the GR is better on tiny stuff and much more proportional to size and sound. I know the D2 doesn't have a true all metal mode but what they have I feel is unusable. Will have to fiddle around with Gold Field and maybe try it in 2 tone instead and fiddle around with the tone break. Using the 9", typically don't run any discrimination here.
  14. Jewlery is marked on the Apex screen on top but also keep in mind chains and smaller jewelry will be in the foil range. MF or 20khz should work fine for jewelry hunting. I would use no discrimination on it and if iron audio is too much you can turn the iron volume down. I have found some pretty nice rings and chains with mine. Be sure to slow up your swing on it so you can follow the audio better. Happy Hunting.
  15. You may want to snag Inside the Metal Detector found here: https://www.amazon.com/Inside-Metal-Detector-George-Overton-ebook/dp/B01N8WAG7L/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3B20YBN072KAW&keywords=inside+the+metal+detector&qid=1704764653&sprefix=inside+the+metal+%2Caps%2C97&sr=8-3 Should have some very helpful info and math needed for designing those coils.
  16. Very cool. Gems are probably worth much more but getting them gia certified is around $100 per ring so a little investigation first can save quite a bit. Don't rely on the acid tests, they are an ok ballpark but I am finding the test kit I have seems off. In particular the 14k solution seems too strong so many of the stuff I find tests at 8k even latest bracelet chain i found that was clearly marked 14k.
  17. Grounds not difficult, we just tend to lose a lot of depth in some areas due to mineralization. Narrow dd's tend to do fairly well but it's a balancing act wtih depth, coverage and separation. Can't have all that in one coil.
  18. Dig more dirt, eventually you may find it 🙂
  19. Blew off work for a hour and hit one the permissions I have nearby. Was working an area where I had plucked some other oldies out and sniffed out this nice little 1877 seated dime. Turns out to be a S which I don't see to many on the east coast here. In the mix there was some tiny signal which look like rivet heads to clothing, probably turn of the century. Also kept running into some deep targets that had a faint iron audio or nearly none but would have a low TID. Out of curiosity I carefully dug a couple of them and came up with lumps of iron oxide. They weren't very heavy. Out of curiosity I gave them a good squish in an arbor press only to reveal what looks like carbon in the middle. My guess is the iron rusted away leaving the carbon behind. This would explain the coal like behavior and rusty lumps. The longer piece you can see the layers. Guessing it was a piece of an old horse shoe or something similar that was forged.
  20. You should go back and sift the dirt where the ring was and see if the stone is there. Bucket of water and course screen should do the trick. Hopefully it isn't your best find for the year we got a long ways to go.
  21. As for the Sea Hunter, you can use the MS2 headphones if your not diving. Better audio and volume adjustable, much more comfortable.
  22. I like the SH and especially the 10x14 for beach combing. I had slapped a part whites, ml, garrett shaft together and put the control box under the arm cuff balancing it perfectly. Downside its still close to 6 lbs and if your have a bad shoulder this will limit your time hunting. There is the hip mount that works but any movement on coil wire can cause it to false a little. Most sandy beaches or where there is black sand, hands down its far better than vlfs but there are areas I hunt that have so much iron trash that it would be impossible to dig everything. Sounds like a valor attempt at greatness but a daunting task that would leave you with a trash barrel of crap and only cover a small area. I'm not a die hard beach hunter and prefer vlf's when possible.
  23. I have an MK2, very stable machine. 8" mono is ok but not very deep on small stuff but from what I have seen its similar to the Sand Shark. 10x14 is a beast but likes to rise up unless you mount the box in front of your hand. I don't use mine much due to brutal undertoe we have here and all the lobster trap bits. As for handling black sand and hot rocks its a champ. Reason you need a pi other than black sand? Been using D2 24khz smf and smaller scoop here. More enjoyable not digging everything and having a light setup. Do want to mention the D2 dive mode has crap depth, could probably modify the beach sensitive like I did and it does very well.
