Can you do an acid test on it? -
Bounty Hunters Site Is Down
kac replied to kac's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
First BH I has we in early 90's, they didn't have a 5 year warranty back then, maybe 90 days? Anyways machine was still running up until recently. You are right about the page not working and link supposed to go to FTP -
Bounty Hunters Site Is Down
kac replied to kac's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
Ahh DNC is the domain registrar. Looks like they just jumped hosts, previously on GoDaddy and now on Gator. Can't blame them really I've been stuch on Godaddy for way too long, miserably stupid people there. -
Bounty Hunters Site Is Down

That is owned by DNC Holdings and not FTP or BH... Did someone take them over? -

Never thunked about the ohm meter. Tossed it on and yes it's conductive.

Good post. Personally I would have changed the stickers on the car with a popular rental companies logos to add to the realism. 🙂

I forgot the tejon is 17.5khz so that would explain why the magnetite breaks so high, probably similar in proportion to the Multi Kruzer running 19khz and standard scale. Sensitivity on it only seems to effect when the target is on the fringe and not by much. Is a cool rock, when I was detecting some ponds couple years ago I had a magnet in the bottom of my scoop to catch any iron like smaller nails and when I looked at the magnet it was covered with bits of this stuff, looked like a black chia pet. Wonder if a pi would see past this? May run it over my Seahunter to check. Wish I had a PI for land that was tame around emi.
-
Ran it under my other machines since I never found a chung that big. On the Garretts it is 38-40 both AT Pro and Apex which is the high end or iron range. On the Multi Kruzer normalized scale it's 15 which is one over the iron range. Oddly that should have discriminated out on the Tejon but only if I run the sensitivity at the minimum. When I raise the sensitivity all the way to 10 or higher the magnetite breaks at the foil mark. Running the break that high I eliminate large iron nails but oddly can still pick this up clearly. Anyways top end of iron range on this one, should have a nice smooth tone to it.

Found with the Tejon. I run my sensitivity really high so it will pick up on some rocks and tiny coal etc. You should be able to do the same with your Vaquero, just crank it up and back it off till the chatter just stops. It will find the tiniest targets that way, good for earings etc in tot lots.

Black streak. Weight was 266g, displaced 100ml.

It is fairly heavy for it's size, I'll try to figure out the density. Magnets are attracted to it and I can see a couple sparkles of some crystalization but haven't cut it open as I need to get a diamond blade for my tile saw.

Rough work. Those compressors are kind of sketchy too. See them walking on the bottom barefoot!

Picking Through Some Old Hunted Out Spots

Just ordered a Carrot, ML PF35 falses too much for me. I use the Nokta Pulse pointer but it hates the Nox so if my buddy is near by it goes crazy (no love there between them). Nokta Pulse is also slow starting up when not paired with headphones. I like the rechargeable aspect of the Nokta and looks like others are doing the same but end of the day I can stuff the rechargeable lithiums in a pointer and get half a season out of a charge plus can carry a spare. Recharge time on the 9v lithiums is under 2 hours and can be charged on a standard usb.

Finally got my Tejon up and running. Had to use some potentiometer cleaner that has a lubricant in it. I sprayed inside the pots where the pins are and not the top. I didn't want to break down the dampening grease. At first not much improved but after a day later and a good work in they run smooth. Big difference as I can now hear the nuance between iron, aluminum and good targets. My basic settings is crank the sensitivity up but still have no chatter. Next ground balance as good as I can. My primary disc set just slightly above the iron where an iron cut nail will crackle. This helps me skip past the tiny junk and run really quiet. If I hear any crackle I'll swing the coil in a couple different directions and listen for any descent tones or spikes that may indicate a masked object. 2nd disc is set at the high mark of nickel. This keeps the tiny silvers like trimes, half dimes etc. Hunting I listen for just the nice tone rolls, soft tiny ones I can use my 2nd disc as junk check to see if they are super deep or just foil. Park is really old but has a massive hill so bottom has some serious top soil where I dug a couple cans in the +14" mark. One clad quarter was past the 12". Super deep targets it can be tricky to tell cans from large silver as they are getting to the fringes of the machine. Couple Musket balls, some clad, nice rosette so far. These are from short lunch break runs so only been hitting smaller areas. The rock has iron in it and is heavy, maybe iron ore? Sounded way better than it looks 🙂 Still tons of targets and the area is right for one the old USA gold coins so I do tend to dig the small aluminum just to be sure.

New Sites Aren't As Fruitful As I'd Hoped

Still not bad runs considering you got more than zincolns. Old Line Paul, good starter site to poke around at is www.historicaerials.com where you can cross reference old maps and old aerials photos back to the 30's in some places. If you have access to property lines and ownership that will help you so your not trespassing and even give you leads to ask for permissions.- 10 replies

Spectacle'ur Day Relic Hunting
kac replied to F350Platinum's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Not many days like that left this year. Silver piece could have been a hair barrette. Looks late 1800's maybe? Wide open area like that you may want to chuck on the larger coil. Great looking places you hunt. Ever up this way I can get ya slumming around heaps of debris and see how you can work around everything including kitchen sinks haha. -
If you did get the SH with larger coil you will need to mount the control box in front of the handle below to nose it down in the water. Much of my beach hunting is on shore so I use the hip mount. One thing I never liked was the wobbly shaft they ship with the unit. Detector itself is excellent but it also lacks shielding so it is very prone to EMI. There are some stretches of beach I can't detect at dusk when everyone puts their stupid wifi alarms on. Also can't use it along the old river nearby due to powerlines. Control box submersed there is no problem.

Very cool. I have a Seahunter and use the 10x14 for beach combing. It is a little boyant in the salt unlike the 8" coil and think that might give you some trouble. 10x14 is also hits pretty deep so target recovery might be a problem. I don't know how deep the Pulse Dive with 8" coil goes but guessing the SH 8" might be deeper.

Does The Legend Support The Pulse Pointer Wireless?
kac posted a topic in Nokta / Makro Legend Forum
Curious if the Legend is compatible with the Pulse Dive pointer and maybe the Green headphones. Anyone know? -
Wondering how many dogs broght some bones home to chew on LOL.

Wonder how many bones the dogs brought home hahah. I was looking for an L4, cracked mine a few years ago and could use a spare. No rings or ring fingers, may have to go back :)
