  1. Good to see at least a wheatie instead of a zinc penny, good start. If you have a local park or school yard you may want to do some coin shooting. Will get you up to speed on target recognition as there are more targets to go through. Use a hand digger or small trowel on cut lawns to minimize any marks.
  2. Curious if you could put in a finer screen on bottom 1/3 of that rake if it would catch the smaller stuff?
  3. For kicks try turning the sensitivity all the way down and see if and where that may calm the machine down. If turning the sensitivity down effects the chatter then it is an EMI issue with the machine and could mean a bad coil connection or something else. Note that the machine has more power available than most conditions allow, plenty of power under the hood and can't be run flat out in all places. I run my Multi Kruzer between 70-85 in the disc modes 2 tone, 3 tone, 4 tone so they don't chatter. Increasing the discrimination a little would stop the small chatter from ground mineralization but ground mineralization wouldn't cause big spikes like you described. Really sounds like a bad coil connection, possible damaged coil wire. Really sounds like it needs to be serviced.
  4. All those rakes miss the contaminated body piercings..... time to dig out your micro jewelry hunting gear!
  5. Could be just delays with the patent office. The pandemic has a lot of places crippled or working on skeleton crews.
  6. Welcome. You may want to check this book out: https://www.amazon.com/Fists-Full-Gold-Chris-Ralph/dp/0984269207/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1ZJ19SBV43A77&dchild=1&keywords=fist+full+of+gold+book+chris+ralph&qid=1595425890&sprefix=fist+full+of+gol%2Caps%2C159&sr=8-1
  7. Very cool but looks like a lot of work. Congrats on the chain. Only trouble I see is all the small ear rings that will fall through. If you need to stay in shape using that beast feel free to stop by my yard late this fall 🙂
  8. I have been using the MK for a bit and putting some serious hours into it, weather depending as it has been hot here. Of the various modes I found the 4 tone to have potential but difficult to get right in high trash areas but find it has much better depth and more accurate ID's at depth when set properly. For parks and schoolyards there is tons of aluminum trash and can be a daunting task to trudge through it all. Even the zippy fast 3 tone I found myself investigating too much time on the mid tones and chasing id's. I had gone through the 4 tone mode to get a good range on the average gold ring/nickel range with a noticeable pitch and give most of the trash a poor or mixed sound. Using 19Khz and SD mode (hold the left and right arrows down for a couple seconds) to give me more range in mid tone #'s I set the following: Gain: 70-75, lower is quicker and even at 70 the depth is more than 3 tone at 85 with solid id's Disc: 00-04 depending on how much iron is in the ground. I typically leave at 00 and keep fe vol low FeVol: 01-02 T-Break: 23, 41, 69 (you will need to adjust this for no mode or 14khz kruzer) Tone: 15, 27, 50, 73 iSat: 01
  9. Can you adjust tone breaks on the Simplex? I tweaked my 4 tone settings so i get a nice honk on small to medium gold, horrid squawk on zinc pennies and nice high tone for copper-silver. Can post those in another topic tomorrow if anyone is interested.
  10. Will a tube of flex seal be handy just in case?
  11. Park 1 I would guess is a 3 tone version of the MK's 4 tone mode and Park 2 seems identical to the MK's 3 tone mode. That sound about right? Curious why the tone breaks are different between P1 and P2?
  12. Congrats on the gold, masons ring is something, my great grand father and grand uncles were masons, great grandfather was a grand mason of high order. Which my great grandmother didn't sell it. Glad you found one, they aren't all that common.
  13. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=blackube+rechargeable+batteries&crid=1E81K6M4KWYZE&sprefix=blacku%2Caps%2C169&ref=nb_sb_ss_ts-a-p_6_6 I have happen to be using the Blackube brand which use usb cords to recharge them. Approx 2 hours to recharge time. There are other brands that are similar and probably work as well. I did have 1 faulty battery that Blackube did replace without issue so they do stand behind their products. Forgot to mention make sure you choose the right voltage, 1.5v are the ones for AA's.
  14. That is cool! Most likely the 45 was used in a crime and tossed. Send that to local pd or fbi so they can recover the sn?
  15. I have replaced all my AA and 9 volts with lithuim rechargeables so you may pay around $25 for 4 aa's or 2 - 9v's but just a few recharges you have recovered your costs. Power on them is much more consistant. Only downside is when they are about to run out (usually 1 1/2- 2x the run times of alkalines) your battery indicator may only show a bar down then none. With that in mind keep a mental note the last time you charged them or pack an extra set. As an owner of the Multi Kruzer I have found the audio takes some getting used to when compared to my Tesoro but it is very precise. From what I have seen on the forums about the Simplex it seems similar. Lastly if it is chattery then nudge up the discrim. Factory sensitivity is a good start and it should have plenty of power under the hood where conditions allow. Heart breaking about Whites, had my eyes on a TDI for a while and never pulled the trigger on one. I agree with bigtim1973 on the Simplex.
  16. Welcome, good place to ask.
  17. ML might have just made it easier to dig the obvious rather than have a beginner start digging too much trash and get discouraged. Other makers do the same I'm sure, much like the coin mode on the AT Pro.
  18. I rarely disc out anything and prefer to just tone down the Fe vol or run it at the barest minimum to take out the ground noise. Ignoring modern nickels, copper/brass pennies, dimes or quarters you will be guaranteed to miss the old coins. We have a good variety of old coins with Id's that range quite a bit. Easier to learn the trash than the unknown.
  19. I cleaned the bulk of mine with a tumbler but just take a wire brush to the ones I picked up recently. Hand full of clad at a time isn't worth the electricity to tumble or the agravation of fishing them out of the media.
  20. I have about 40lbs of clad, half of it is nickels, dimes and quarters. Need to check and see if they are paying above face value here. Imagine a Zincoln worth $.011 GB? hahaha
  21. Do the centers just corrode and fall out from electrolysis?
  22. On my MK @ 14khz (for vdi purposes) discrim 3-4 will eliminate small and medium square nails, 4-5 will eliminate larger nails and I can still hear larger iron like buckel loops etc. 0 discrim you can still see the numbers alone and just keep in mind 4 and lower is usually junk. I prefer to use iron audio on that machine rather than discrimination so I have a smoother audio and it doesn't blip or skip especially in 2 tone and deep mode. My AT Pro has more latitude on iron 0-40 vs the MK that is 0-15.
  23. There was an Italian dealer selling some v5's on ebay. Never saw any v6's here in the state for sale. Kellyco was listed as an official dealer but after contacting them about it last year they said they no longer sell them or plan on getting any in stock. Not sure why the sudden pull of the product from the USA markets. Always wanted one but figured if something goes wrong service will be a major issue. Very cool machine, congrats.
