oneil is a bit away, and mostly dry now. I wasn't aware of the history there. But there are ducks there, for sure.

Fisher models starting with serial numbers 1021 are from Los Banos, California. At least I think they are, The earlier CZ-3D models are and so are the Gold Strike.
Los Banos plant shut down, moved to Texas.
Paul
oh ok, I hunt ducks near los banos, never knew there was anything there but heat.
-
That's a steal Mike!
Brand-new too, I seen that and the serial number starts with 1021 (10215692) Los Banos made. Wonder if the earlier Gold Strike models were hotter with the 1021 serial number like the CZ 3D?
Congrats!
Paul
paul, what do you mean los banos made?

Gambler,
I found a nice nugget in Downieville this year. While we were there we were reading some of the stories. One story said that a woman was sweeping her kitchen floor and saw some gold. She dug it and found over 35 ounces! That was when gold was selling in Downieville for about $12 per ounce.
Mitchel
exactly where? mitchel,

I love it when you talk technical!

yay, another gmt user. I got mine after reading steves review. thanks root.

wow, thanks monte, and steve, and everybody else. I have no problem having more than one machine. I just want to save time and shorten the learning curve vis a vis which machines are worth it and which aren't.
I've found alot of nails with the gmt, but I mostly know they're nails when I dig them. I don't mind digging, I just don't want to miss anything. I go prospecting often, so I can hit the same place many times.

I read that article, thats what prompted me to start this thread.

Happy Turkey day to all the great people on this forum....even you crazy Aussies!LOL

too true dude.

Hey bud, Im in same area, search same things. Personally, like the f19, mxt deus , vista gold and at pro. Any of those mid frequency detectors work well. Set disc to just knock out a smaller square nail, and go 2 tone. Small coils help immensely.
Whenever I'm up there I look for a guy with a mullet and a red truck, I figure I'll run into you one day. Do you ever wear a shirt? that would confuse me.:-)
thanks for the knowedge dump, thats the meat of this forum. I like whites stuff, I have two whites already, probably add a third. I get excited by all the cool new stuff though. but it does seem as if the american companies are not really doing anything really interesting lately.
-
steve, it would be much easier if you just said "get this one or else".
-
I appreciate the answer steve, and I know how seriously you take the subject of detecting, so I know you're not being facetious.
let me make my question more specific, I'm up in gold country often, highbanking , I am also slowly learning to md for nuggets. I have done some research, I know of an area that was a gathering spot for miners during the glory days. I have a gmt,(thanks to info from your site)(many thanks for that), what detector would you swing in that situation, searching for coins from that era, and maybe relics?
-
You know, I would like to know more about coin machines(park hunters). What makes the good ones good, and what makes the great ones great.
-
-
guns and butter. both are tradeable.(and ammo)
-
ok thanks, sometimes it's the simple things. I'll fix it.
-
so having the cable on my gmt loosely wrapped around the shaft might cause a problem.
-
happy thanksgiving everybody
