- I think most people don't know how to clean the green carpet in the a52. that green carpet catches fine gold, but you have to wire brush the carpet in a tub of water. if you have never done that with your carpet, try it.

merry christmas everyone

great topic, paying attention.

subscribed to the future awesomeness. can you start tomorrow?

-
I might be misunderstanding this , but couldn't you take any "metal" detector and gold prospect with it and just dig everything? I mean like a bottom of the line coinmaster.
-
neat video. thanks for sharing.

I wonder if it is possible to come up with a standard test to check depth performance? That would be a good reason for a bunch of us to meet up, all with the same detectors, and see if they perform the same. (and beer) I bet someone with 20 years detecting(steve) can tell if say two identical detectors perform the same.
-
thank you for the replys steve. and rick. steve, can you explain this more.." The real issue out there is that many detectors work but may be substandard in performance and many owners may not even be aware of it." (snip)

How important is a warranty? Are defects common in metal detectors? Should a warranty or lack of one be a big influence? Those of you who have owned many detectors, have you had many failures?
-
Dayyummm... the right HF treatment on those species and you could easily quadruple their worth. Nice score!

what do you mean by that?
-
nice, exactly where did you find them?
and where the heck is Oakley? -
that might affect your warranty

nice gold, do you have a picture of the gold before you soaked it? and what acid did you use? Oh, I read your book, very informative, it's one of those books that gets used as a reference too.
-
well, I'll include covers for my mxt too. thanks again steve.
-
Thanks for your typical detailed answer. One other thing, my last detector died from water and dirt intrusion, in your reviews can you note the degree of water and dirt resistance of the detectors you test. If you can't, I understand.
I think I'll get the MXT pro and use the heck out of it. I did get 22 coins that day before my last one died, but it was time for a new one anyway.(outgrew it)

Hi Steve, well I'm in the market so to speak. I'm trying to decide between the v3i, the mxt pro or the tdi pro. Budget wont allow more than one detector at the moment.I prospect a lot, but when I can't, I go coin hunting. So multi use is important. (as is American made)(I know that sounds naïve, but that's how I is
).
Let me add, without your website, I'd be lost, I appreciate all of your testing and work writing the reviews. I know you have said you don't want to sway anyones choice, but the cat is out of the bag, so to speak. Thanks.
-
just wondering if you are close to posting up a review. (I have read what you wrote so far) -
dude, awesome!

I would add, take a buddy with you. A minor injury could become a matter of life or death if you're alone, not so much if someone is there to get help or help you back to the vehicle. Oh, and I always carry a tealight(small candle), makes fire starting easier.
