First off, Congrats on your new Manti and the M8 coil.  That M8 coil will be a big plus in parks or iron infested areas.  

Tip #1:  Air test targets in all the different Audio Themes and Tones.   Chose the one that sounds the best to your ears.  My hearing is poor from early '70's Army with little to no hearing protection.  So I chose Enhanced and Medium and also Two tone.  I almost only hunt salt beaches and have very little experience on turf but in my first 11 months with the Manticore, I pulled 37 gold rings and 14 "other" pieces of gold from the beach.  Also 106 silver rings and 101 "other" silvers.  So I do have some positive experiences with my chosen Audio selection. 

Tip#2:  Get some hours on the Manticore just using the factory presets.  This will give you a base knowledge of what the detectors language is telling you.  The factory ferrous upper and lower limits are quite adequate until you have some time on the machine and understand what needs to be changed and for the most part the changes will only need to be tweaked.  

Tip# 3:   Long press the Noise Cancel button.  If on turf, Ground Balance.  Recovery speed might vary with your natural swing speed but for the most part get in some hours on the presents before venturing too far too quickly.  

Tip #4:  Get some hours on the machine before doing much changing.  I cannot stress that enough!!!  You have to know what it is telling you before you really understand that you can get the setting sideways really quickly if you change too much too soon without a justified guess in your mind on what you EXPECT from that change. 

Tip# 5:  Don't watch YouTubes as most will have you making changes that you may not really understand until you get some hours on the machine.

Tip# 6:  Have I mentioned that you need to get some hours on the machine before making changes???

Tip# 7:  Have fun, dig everything so that you know for sure what this incredible detector is able to tell you.

Tip# 8:  (you can insert this one anyplace you want)  Run in all metal and no discrimination!   You will learn it's language a lot quicker when you hear everything and know how ferrous and no ferrous react when both are under the coil at the same time.

Tip# 9:  Don't forget the 2D line.  A nice roundish spot on that line coupled with a good solid tone, with a good solid TID will often be a nice precursor to a nice target under the coil.

Tip# 10:  Remember it is called metal detecting and even Manti can tell you only so much.  So, forgive Manti if the target is just a piece of trash.  The trash has a story too, just like a gold ring or a silver coin!!!

Two hunts, two 18K rings-this could become habit forming!!!  It is hallmarked 18K and 14K.  The yellow gold test 18K and I assume the white inlay is 14K as well as the sizer that is soldered on the inside.  The inside of the rings is nice and smooth, but the outside has clear signs of being in an active sand movement area of the beach.  I just thought that this one was interesting enough to post.  It also rang up a 53 on the Manticore (15 X 12 inch coil).  It was one of 11 rings yesterday.  Three silvers, one titanium and the rest junkers.

Dug my first gold of 2024 today.  It is 7 in one with one being slightly whiter and one being slightly rose than the others.  I did a Google Lens search and hitting high on the list is the Cartier Trinity Tri-Tone Rolling 7 Band Ring.  This one is NOT a Cartier but it does have a maker's mark.  The mark is shaped like a two-story house.  On the bottom floor is 750.  On the top floor is a heart with what look like a 3A on one side near the bottom of the heart and an OE on the other side near the bottom.  I am adding a hand drawn picture of what I think I am seeing as the hallmark is smaller than these old eyes can see very well.  In the  sunlight I could see the three colors of gold much better than the pictures show. 

It weighs 6.13 grams and test 18K.  Normally when I see 750 on any gold pieces I find, they are foreign in origin.  Some help on IDing the maker would be greatly appreciated.

Got a LOUD high tone on the Manticore as I was about 5 steps away from leaving the beach on Friday.  I scooped it up even before looking at 2D line or the TDI numbers.  Just thought it was another fresh dropped quarter.  But that "clanking" in the scoop told me otherwise.  LOL  I suspected that it was a coin ring but had to wait until I got home and under the loupe.  The 1937 date is faint but still readable especially with the loupe.  The inside of the ring has a lot of great detail to it.  One side has the reeded edge although it is worn down quite a bit.  

I can only speculate whether the ring belonged to someone's parent, grandparent or just a random ring made from a 1937 Walker.

Finding gold is fun but researching where it is from takes it to a higher level. 

I dug a 12.12-gram gold necklace this morning at one of the beaches that I frequent.  It is hallmarked 610 and A. HOA on the links by the clasp.  It is 20 inches long.  It has 8 long hollow links, and the rest of the links are small and solid.  This design is not a typical chain find for me.  I have taken several pictures in hopes that someone on the forum will recognize the design and help me at least find the country of origin.  If my math is correct the 610 hallmarks would be 14.64K even though I did see it listed as 15K on one or two sites on the internet.  I also tested it on my electronic tester, and it tested on the higher side of 14K.  I tried to get pics of the hallmarks, but the iPhone didn't want to focus on them. 

Any help would be appreciated.
