  1. Monte says, those that want to do the latest update, maybe should not. Instead of using the new 2.77 Park 1 mode, just use Park 2 mode its basically the old 2.68 Park mode.
  2. Videos on Facebook Nokta/Makro site Some folks were complaining Target ID numbers too jumpy at depth. To make the detector less chattery with bouncy numbers. They reverted, detuned the target ID, so after a certain depth it will not generate a target ID number. Mainly for those who want a quieter detector. Updates Made : IF YOU ARE SATISFIED WITH THE INCREASED ID DEPTHS OF VERSION 2.76 OR 2.77, YOU DO NOT NEED TO INSTALL THIS UPDATE! ID stability and depths have been changed back to the same levels of version 2.68. This will NOT affect the overall depth and sensitivity of the device. https://www.noktadetectors.com/metal-detector/simplex-metal-detector/
  3. The Simplex will be Nokta/Makro's----Tesoro's famous cult status Compadre. Popular, inexpensive-affordable, an excellent performer. With a smaller coil the Simplex............................
  4. The Vista X has a new home as of last Xmas. Waited 10 months for DT to make a 7" concentric they said that was in the works--for us North Americans.. Nothing. Large stock coil was too large for my trashy sites. The small 5.7" DD coil was excellent all the way around, just too small. Got tired of waiting while the X sat on the shelf most of last year. This year they finally came out with a 6x8 DD coil, a bit too late and still not a 7" concentric. Over all the Vista X is an excellent detector and does like tiny gold nuggets down to 12 grains. Yeah regarding the Cibola and Vaq., remember that the programmed IC chip needed to be replaced, for tone change.
  5. Had this in my file folder. Attempt at your own risk, cannot verify this actually works. ============================= Does anyone know what Tesoro does to change the tone from low to high? I heard they re-program a chip? Or do they just put in a different chip that has a diff. resistor capacitor value somewhere in it? ------------------------------------------------------------ Yes, The -ve voltage is generated using a 4024 divider chip and a push pull stage (as per all their other machines). On THREE of the outputs of this chip is a diode OR matrix which combines the outputs into one then to the audio amp stage. Move ONE of these diodes along ONE leg on the chip so instead of dividing Ftx by say 64 to give the audio base tone, it divided by 128 (half the frequency as an output) and thus a lower overall tone. Like this; Find pin 5 and move the end of the diode that is connected to it to pin 6. Job done three minutes = LOW pitch mod (and NO profit for rip off modders) Disconnect the ANODE of the diode which is connected to PIN5 of the IC and connect it instead to PIN6. This will LOWER the tone. IF you want a higher tone, then disconnect the ANODE of the diode from PIN 9 and connect it to PIN 11. This will give a HIGHER tone. No advantage EXCEPT that the standard tone is around 800Hz, the higher one around 1600 (or something like that). The mod moves the tone into the range where the ear is usually most sensitive to small changes in amplitude, thus, in theory, giving the user better aural sensitivity to small signal changes https://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/26861/TI/CD4024.html
  6. Looks like Garrett Marketing Team is willing to listen to what detectorists actually want in a detector instead of what they think we want. Maybe they learned something from Nokta/Makro.....................
  7. Isn't Garrett one of those companies that only use in-house field testers?
  8. Steve, just shared your Facebook site with some of the groups I visit.👍
  9. Ever wonder where he is off to after leaving Tesoro a few years ago. Looks like he's been busy prospecting. He's on Facebook
  10. Do you see the battery in the picture of the insides of the control box? No. I think they mentioned the small cellphone like battery is in the compartment area that attaches the control box to the shaft.
  11. Just waiting for the waterproof Apex Pro...............................near future.
  12. Face book watch party count down. I will be at work and miss it.
  13. Covid and limited company operation per Turkish gov't has caused delays. Dilek did indicate next year. She does give clues if you follow Nokta on Face book and the live treasure talk shows she is on. https://www.facebook.com/noktadetectors Right now I think us Simplex owners would rather see the smaller accessory coils come out soon than worry about the Multi-Freaker they are working on for next year.
  14. I briefly had the Outlaw, if you pretended there was no pinpoint button and went detecting, found it was an excellent performer. Really should have kept it.
  15. Manuals http://web.archive.org/web/20150813221556/http://jb-ms.com/Detectors/Manuals/ Plus you can access Tesoro from the web archives last recorded Dec 12, 2018 http://web.archive.org/web/20180909124230/http://www.tesoro.com/product/detectors/
  16. Cheaper at Mouser if your in the US. https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Amphenol-LTW/12-08BMMA-SL8001?qs=kbAEz%2FAXNVTMhf2%2F%2BQf9fg==
  17. No, somewhere in between L. Ontario and L. Erie
  18. I had a spot, with scuba and a Garrett XL500 VLF/TR back around 1980-81. The sand was about 3-10" deep before you hit clay. Swimming beach since the early 1900's. It was basically virgin. A coin target every minute , guaranteed a gold ring every 15 minutes. After a week of underwater detecting. Had a 1 gallon bucket filled with coins, many silver, lots and lots of sterling jewelry, two gold chains, roughly 80 gold rings. And most of all remember filling a 5 gallon pail with junk. Went back the following year and found a whole lot less. Cashed everything in and bought furniture to outfit my apartment. So it can be done, if you find the right spot. I have never found another spot like this.
  19. Batteries used in the Kruzer, Anfibio, Simplex are just small batteries like those found in cellphones. But, it is known and mentioned in the manual etc. that when using the low frequency, it consumes more battery power. The batteries won't last as long. A higher mah capacity external battery would provide much longer run times between charges
  20. Simplex owners love the updates and the improved performance.
  21. Why? The new smaller coils that are being made for the Simplex will not work with earlier than 2.77 version software. The updates really improves and upgrades the Simplex feature set and performance. I would feel short changed if I had a Simplex with the older version software.
  22. On the Kruzer and Impact with the 5x9DD coil at 5khz seemed to punch a bit deeper and I was rewarded finding some silver coins in some mineralized grounds. -------------------------------------------------------------------- I kept a post from keith Southern regarding the Kruzer Gen mode. I will repost here for everyone. Gen mode is a threshold based all metal mode..Single channel,no phase shifting so no disc..Think of it like a raw feed before its ran through a seperate channel and comepred to produce a disc circuit... A raw signal..reports everything with no bias although the visual ID will still work as it is tapped from the disc side. the Gen mode will report it all..The Gen mode is best used in less littered sites for depth and or mineral punch where you know I.D .is not important or skewed so bad it's irrelevant.. The gen mode is the deepest soil punch mode when set up accordingly..that is highest gain possible without threshold waver or chatter..to set threshold you want to have on headphones and adjust threshold to be just barley audible..right to the edge of going silent but still buzzing in your ear..Threshold is like a carrier.it rises and falls when targets come towards it and passes it...set it too low below audible buzz and weak targets may not be strong enough to cause it to rise above null..Set it to loud and weak targets from depth or small targets will also be ignored as they can reach the point to overcome the louder carrier noise..set it right on the edge of hearing it but no drop outs while holding it in the air..then once a proper ground balance is achieved that same threshold in the air should be heard while on target free soil..Then as you sweep if the threshold wants to null or rise where there's no targets then you need to reground balance..Offset ground balance is easy to tell from legitimate targets..huge nulls usually...if you find the soil is all over the place use auto tracking to help rapidly changing ground conditions and or back of sensitivity if its to strong for the soil from blow back..you'll have to find a sweet spot for the sen's and even swing speeds will help..you at the thrshold to run smooth and barely there..then as you cross a target it will rise and fall its a raw feed so you will get a feel of size and depth by the width and modulation of the signal..nails will usually way wah sound like two small targets close together ..you'll learn when to look at the ID by modulation and roundness..if its stronger it will usually show up on ID screen weak may or may not..the ones that don't show up on ID screen and sound smooth round and deep are the ones you'll want to cut the cake on so to speak.pull some dirt out to get it to the visual ID reading at least.. All metal threshold based hunting is fun and a huge eye opener and a great learning tool to really understand a machine to its fullest..You have the best depth if you stay in tracking off but if you have mineral and such till you adapt to the sound of a proper running feel tracking on may be a great starting point... And today's all metal modes with DD coils and such and SAT controls and auto track etc are a whole lot easier to learn on than the old days when we didn't have SAT or even auto track..Keith
  23. Hey Jeff, I will PM you my electronics engineer friend's email in Colo Springs, he would be one to talk to. His detector line up sounds like yours plus a bunch.
