Yeah,
Sorry I swore secrecy to details about this hunt, but since your asking.....?
if we are talking about the same place it is where you found a specie as big a a beef short rib the first day you had the 19” on the ZED... There was some deeeep ground there that held some nice ones, but they couldn’t escape from the Beast ..
I had forgotten the watch,... but didn’t you get a nice coin too?
That place was hammered but even I found a one grammar with your 2300....,(whilst waiting on ZED brains to be delivered)
We had a good camp and good grub there.
And it is where I got my first, (of many) —-Australian swearing sessions ...for doing something stupid.
I will never forget later when we were fishing at the hut and I caught the barra.... and you said very nonchalantly,
“Well, your a hell of a lot better fisherman than you are a detectorist that’s for sure!!!”
Hahahaha.... priceless ?

I tripped over that same one and when I was cussing and kicking it out of the way I almost broke my ankle when I hit another one that was stuck deeper in the ground...,. It must have been a 2 pounder... but I didn’t want to take time to dig it when the big ones are the ones really worth digging?

Hi JP,
Condors detector worked with that X-coil and a different adapter is my understanding, Dave went there to establish that. So what is known is Condors adapter had an issue during initial construction, it was remade and then blew the detector. I guess it is possible he had blown the chip on the first attempt and then by remaking the adapter properly it put the voltage into the detector incorrectly somehow by the blown chip, normally when a chip is blown it is blown the buck stops there... but not always unfortunately.
But then again the wire Condor mentioned in his above post that wasn't connected when he pulled the heat shrink back was the grey wire, the TX wire... that puppy has the power going through it. If it touched anything it shouldn't.... it's game over.
It's a sad situation ?
I guess it's why I've been banging on about people making sure they take utmost care in making the adapter as it is a risk and wished they were professionally made. It's a shame the coils weren't up to spec for Minelab to make the adapters and we all obviously appreciate you trying your best with that.
I had another read of your post and agree, the shop can't be too much to blame as it was a bad adapter when they first got it. The chip was possibly already damaged at that point too. The TX wire is likely what's damaged the board though ?
Who would be responsible for for Tx wire ?

I Glad yours worked out...
Three different tries and two operators didn’t get this one right.
They might disagree with you that it’s...,,”not that hard to get it right.”
But like I said, glad yours is working.

Getting a wee bit nervous now about making my patch lead

Sorry to hear about your issues Condor, must be stressful not knowing exactly what the problem is. I hope everything gets sorted out somehow for you.
Cheers
Rick
Ya reckon???

Wishing you both the best...
and from my experiences Minelab they will do their best to help you out..
They proved it to me many times in the last three of my “Outback Yank” episodes...
Get your a.. back to AZ and find some more of those big pieces before Beatup shows up and gets them all!!!

Condor I really am sorry this gyrukus has happened....
I know what it feels like to be here expecting all the best and then issues like this happen.
The scariest thing in your post was that your ZED won’t recognize Dennis’s coil now!!!
Sure puts a damper on your whole trip... dammit!!!
i expected you and Dennis to have homed in on some good big gold by now ....so we could be pushing you out of the way with the backhoe... lol
Well, in all seriousness, I hope all the ones involved do the right thing and fix the issue or compensate you for your expenditures.
The one thing they can’t do is replace your trip of a lifetime.
I sure wished was going smoother.
Well I will bow out and see what happens next.

A few days ago I was wadding through a blackberry patch because I had to go around a poison oak thicket and woke up a large rattle snake. I was so focused on the snake that I didn't see the bear. Lucky for me a mountain lion chased off the bear. When I complained to a friend about my miserable day of prospecting he told me "If prospecting was easy the smart people would be doing it".
I have had several encounters with bears, mountain lions and snakes and as you might have guessed- I survived.
so how far would I go? I suppose as far as necessary.
You must have retired Klunker that’s about 3 of your post in a couple of days!!!!
See ya when I return
I-will go around the world for gold...??
I will stay longer for the experience tho.... the gold is just an excuse to travel and meet people.

Ah ok Fred...
A note on how we are doing Fred..
we were out test running the dry blower yesterday... Trent has installed new triple phase electric motors that with a beautiful wiring job that one of our mates installed. We found the shaker deck was running a little too slow so we came in to town and got a different sized pulley to speed it up....
which it did, almost to the point of implosion....But the fail safe belt flew off first?
Looks like we have the day off while we’re waiting on parts ...which is good because both of us have a cold that is going around.? aaarg...
Good news is we got about a gram and a half for a one hour effort yesterday... when we get that baby tuned in I will post a video of it in action.
And the support trailer is another beauty along with the 21kw genny .
Be good Fred!

I have a 15” Fred.... seems like it will do what it says it should...I only had it on once around camp and it would blank out trash well.
I haven’t used a DD since my Turdy-500 days.... I used to like it around the lake near Lucky’s.
If you have a trashy area to check may as well spend some of that mouldy drywall money and see what you think ??

You're a heck of a photographer Mr. Strick.
Could you bring that thing up with you on your next trip. I would like to play with it and see if it could be adapted to field use. How much depth do you think we could get with it?
Klunker I am surprised you don’t know the answer to that one...or are you being rhetorical?
40% more depth would be my quess......?

Great gold also.

Buy A Used GPZ 7000 Or Gamble Waiting For An Update?
in Minelab Metal Detectors

I would buy the GP Extreme in classifieds for 950.00 and see if you think PIs are your cup of tea.
Even the GP Extreme is miles ahead of your vlf.....
i had one and sold it for the same price I paid for it a year later....
950.00 is a great price... I think it needs a battery but hey.....
