  4. Hahahahaaha, That reminded me of a time last year when I was going to Santa Monica Beach. I was driving into the parking area when a lady rudely cut me off. She knew she did, but she just couldnt help herself. Well she parked a big open parking lot and got out to do her stretches so i pulled up one space away...just to let her know there was a real person in the vehicle she just cut off. I could see here eyeing me as i calmly opened the side door of my Sequoia and took out my Minelab Detector case---- (You know i didnt realize until that day how similar that case looks to a gun case- !) I saw her eyes getting a little wider as I pulled out the detector and threw the case back in the car. Then i turned the detector on to let her hear it----- that must have been when she realized it was not a assault rifle.... As I was walking past her to go to the beach... I gave her my best Tennessee smile and a polite, "GOOD MORNING MA'AM -- She was not impressed by Jethro... And I may have seen a little puddle of water next to where she was standing ... Hahahaha--- California BABY!!!!!
  5. I guess I could put it like this Vic, I always feel like I get more than I actually give ... Ooops, capice no??
  6. It is kind of a greed-based thing to do --- because i know i will feel good when I help others. ?
  7. Good job with the time you had available---- Maybe next year------ MAYBE this year in a different locale...hmmmmmm.....
  8. My new buddy just informed me last night that he was going to step up to the Equinox 600. He is doing well with the Go-Find 60, and since he has the time to detect, i feel we will be seeing some more good stuff from him soon. He may already be lurking on the forum so make him welcome if you feel like it---his name is----- ooooops HIPPA...?
  9. I think it is perfect for a beginner and oldtimer too. i just got a 600 to be used on the beach here in Santa Monica. I know from last year the 800 was very good on the beach and I expect no less from the 600. Good luck to you and keep it swinging!
  10. Hey where you been hiding Bada Bing??? Good to see you on again.... 3 months and I may be rocked up on the caravan park again---- getting a brekkie roll .......so get the hardware oiled up lololol..... You missed me last season ...hahahaha
  11. I been thru the NP---2012 in the Winter--- it was a little cool there if I remember correctly---Tannnnniy river or however you spell it seemed a bit iced over
  12. I am surprised Steve hasnt sounded off on this one... When I was in Reno working the Parks Steve came over and gave me a demo on park hunting---- he didn't use a shovel of any kind, just a a pin-pointer and a screwdriver. Once he got a likely target he used his pinpointer to see if it would pick up the target, if it didnt he moved on.. The idea was not to dig up parks with shovels and get everyone banned.... This may have just been because we were right in the middle of a well used park in Reno. But unless i misunderstood him, that was his way of detecting parks. If it was the boonies im sure he would use a backhoe if he needed too....lol
  13. OK we disagree on the reading...... That was clear in your first sentence---- I lost what ever you were trying to convey in the chapter after that...?
  14. I think he meant it is heavy.......... and because of that......it tires him out quickly. Thats the way i read it---- did you read it, -----the way i read it??
  15. Quick story-- As most of you know i work with Veterans, and a lot are dealing with PTSD --- I always thought detecting would be good therapy because they can get away from the crowds, carry a firearm in most cases (so they feel safe) and they can relax a bit. One guy showed up last week with a Minelab GoFind60---[maybe the only mInelab i havent bought ...Yet...lol] He said he was new and he hadnt found much but trash...I told him to trget places people would be sitting on the ground... like ball fields, picnics and such..I told him that I like to go around old trees. Mind you this is on an old Army base so there can be some neat things there. So far the first day he got half an old spur, second day---1912 penny in good shape!, third day- two Taxca Mexico sliver bangles with the floral design....($25ea!) So he is feeling better , he isnt so jumpy, i see him smiling now, and he is sleeping better after going to classes and then detecting the rest of the day.... That's all it took....a little detector and a place to detect---- Im happy I got to meet this new detectorist.
  16. Stick with the dredge. Sell the 4800... Spend the money on dredge accessories ?
  17. I'll take it!!!!---- I think I would have to put 750,000.00 in the bank before they would let me stay! I wonder how long it would take for immi to find me if i jumped visa??? lolol
  18. Virgin Airline May 6th!!!!!!!!!! LAX>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>OZ
  19. It is a challenge Fred. I got quite a few pictures and videos last year. Most of the videos were pretty rudimentary to say the least. But i also enjoy messing around with that stuff. I wont take too much time videoing if I'm on the gold tho..the Taskmaster is ever watchful How you feeling lately, Fred? Come up to Santa Monica and show me how to beach hunt. I'll be back there in 2 weeks.
  20. It doesn't... but they don't make a dont make a dustproof case.... And it did rain when i was there!
  21. I put my Hero Black in a waterproof case to keep the dust and dirt off of it... audio pitiful even without putting it in a case--- especially when i got 6 feet away from the cam so i could detect while filming.... it was just too much for me to deal with, considering the pressure i had coming down on me from HQ
