  1. That's a help to me to see the day by day usage in the field and at home. All these comments help make mms usage a practical application for me. I look forward to getting started.! :-) Paul
  2. That makes sense.... Thanks to all for your input---- Seems like when i get out of data coverage i lose my maps in BCN --- i must not have them downloaded properly to my phone.... maybe only on my computer at home... I like to know where i am at all times and the tracking program for android is good----i do enjoy the versatility of a full sized map when i am making notes----I can look at the map and then scan the area around me and get a better feel for where i am..... (old school army stuff) actually i learned orienteering in the Boy Scouts--and it helped me later in the Army... Holy samoly...there are a zillion GIS programs,,,, could you narrow it down for me GH? Thx again!
  3. Jasong i have and BCN and it does work fine for marking POI etc... i thought maybe i was missing something--- I have a problem when in the field getting orientated with a 5.5 inch phone screen ... so i am going to go to Mackay School of Mines tomorrow to the map dept downstairs, and make me some good laminated waterproof topos!!! i would like to be able to use a claims map layer on the BCN and use it while moving ,,along with a geology and a wet area overlayer----- i guess i want Footprints on android...lol
  4. Im a ghost already Michel...lol im probably safer in the air than on a dirt bike!!!! Oh and I am the medic....i will have my aid bag with me! And an eperb!!!! lolol
  5. pour it on lunko!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Thx for that info!!!! I will certainly check it out.
  7. Hi, I wonder if some of you that use moving maps programs could enlighten me how you use them in your day to day prospecting experience. I may be using a dual sport motorcycle/powered paraglider this summer was interested in learning how you incorporate moving maps with vehicles (or walking) Thx in advance, Paul
  8. LAtest report... i am having a little difficulty in getting used to the download lag of the maps---i think i forget the refresh button too often and it send me back to a previous screen. Once i ended up ion Michigan when i zoomed in...lolol (didnt see many claims there) I will have to put a few more hours in it, but i am convinced having the Rich Hill, Greaterville, and CA Footprints DVDs was soooooo much faster than the download speeds..(of course, it is all right there on the dVD) and if i am not mistaken Footprints brought all the claims into view----within a foot resolution on the birdseye view..... So i think i got spoiled with that software while in AZ... I have the CA dvds somewhere but i just moved and dont remember where i packed them-----or if they covered the area i am prospecting now or not.... I will look on the Footprints site and see.... i did google up the CAMC number on one claim and it gave the boundaries and layout of the claim on a map which was helpful..... so much available, but feet on the ground will be the best methodology in the long run---DID I SAY STEEP!!!!
  9. i wanna go pocket hunting.... i mean..pocket gold finding!!!!
  10. Hello all, Some of you may be way ahead of me on this but I am just now trying to actively use LandMatters for researching areas to prospect.... Mining claim info is a top priority in a new area I am looking at-- I need to know what is claimed so I don't go high grading.... The fact is, I almost did until I opened the maps up thru LandMatters---and saw there was an obvious claim exactly where I was intending to go!!! I was struggling to understand the mapping software because I never listen to tutorials or read instructions...when i tripped over a you tube video explaining some very basic easy to understand tools to use the software... so i will post it,,just in case any of you are "challenged" like me....lol Thanks again to Ruby and Miner Diggins for putting all this together in one spot-- my donation is on the way...
  11. I wondered the same thing since gold hound was using it successfully. paul
  12. Hey Barry, Didn't the Footprints maps get us all the current claim boundaries???? Im confused because when me and Mel were putting claims up around Rich Hill the FP was what we went by.... am i wrong??? Was that because you were selling the dvds and had way more work in them??? I need to find some info on claims in CA and I am not going about it correctly..... prickly paul
  13. Hahaha. ..just messing with you Steve.. I enjoy thinking out of the box and these shaft ideas get my attention now that I am having to pack in/pack out.
  14. "When I finish this modification I swear I am never heading down that road again. It is its own sort of fun but really I just want to go detecting" and then... "Well, heck, posting this just cost me $264! Got the rod assembly on the way - stand by for Gold Bug 2 conversion." Hello my name is Steve and I am a detectorholic..... --I love it...
  15. You just ordered SHAFT for a GB2----that doesn't sound like you have quit modding to me....lolol
  16. Thanks for the reply, Steve.. And for the suggestions.... Tdi.....hnmmm
