So Many Good Choices...
vanursepaul replied to vanursepaul's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
OK, Thx... This is so steep you cant have anything in your hands except something to climb with...like a long handled pick i use. i will probably use climbing rope and an ascendar - clipped to me like a safety belt.... that way i wont fall too far if i slip.....I went to mtn climbing school in France taught by the french airborne....... but that was back in paleo days!!!!!!! Getting too old, but still stubborn...... PS Steve----I was speaking of the FrankenX...... you may as well sell it to me so it can some use..... I think i can finish her off for you.... https://youtu.be/4-hAGO0lnis -
F19 Nokta gold SDC 2300 ATX Macro Racer/Gold Whites TDI SL CTX 3030 GPX5000 And the 7000, of course... Just trying to narrow down the next purchase.... Hunting NorCal mainly.... Hiking up and down very steep wooded canyons... So weight is a big, big factor! I was in a place last week that was so steep I had to put the 2300 in my pack and literally crawl out on all fours! Beautiful in the bottom, but looked like Hades going up the sides...lol.. Gotta lose 50 lbs now! :-) The ground sticks to my magnet like crazy. Red dirt, lots of buck shot size gravels, Didn't bother my 2300 tho... Saw a mistake by using the hockey puck coil on the ATGold underwater...bzzzzzt.. It is not an underwater coil !!! 100.00 shot...Did find one bullet before it fried tho....lol So what so you think I should be using...this is definitely billy goat country... But one more parameter.. When I come out of the canyons there is lots of ground to cover in burnt forests where I need a larger coil... I think I know my answer..And it is not altogether one of my choices above.... I think you know what it is Steve.... Grinning..

Question Regarding GPZ Coil Cover
vanursepaul replied to fredmason's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
I wash my SDC coil under water a few times to get the fines out....seems to work ok -
Good to just get another unit Fred. Yeah the charger will take care of the batteries.... Unless it isn't a smart charger.... I sold my electric mt bike to a guy and told him of the hazards of overcharging li ions..... He didn't pay attn and about burnt his gas station down.... 16 li ion cells ...7.4v each went up like a rocket while he watched.... The problem there was two weak cells... And they are a different set up than the ML batts..... I bet the ML batts are the same as the cordless drill batts... But that is off topic.... And I just woke up after 3 long 12 hr shifts.lol
