  1. Dang you guys 😉 Not to figure out from many options No hurry , ground will be frozen here soon , no option for snow-birding this yr. ;( Thanks
  2. I've had for yrs a couple of hand held scoops , the one I like the least is made with sheet metal with about 1/4" holes punched - didn't like it because only very loose sand / dirt would go through . Nest was one made from welded wire - this one would breakup wet sand & dirt clumps ok . What I am asking about is what I have seen on YT channels made from stainless & around 4' poles [ for us older hunters ] to not have to bend over 😉 I saw a brand [ I forget ] at a local detector shop - but is was made from thin sheet metal that I did not think it would survive pushing with foot into beach sand ? Buying online does not tell much about quality ? Lastly hoping to find a used one [ to afford ] seems like $500 there about / with handle for a little discount ? So what brands are up to heavy use -- puching into wet beach sand with foot ?
  3. I did a little searching , but did not see much ? A while back , months or more same thing , found a post about a - clip-on & plug-in external battery and the link back then was not available in the US [ did not come up with todays search ] ? But getting ready for a week to 10 day prospecting trip , so looking again . My 800 does not have a lot of use , so not worried about battery replacement , just not able to charge from a remote mountain trip . A couple of ideas occurred while searching & reading , needed spec.s for looking or building something ? Will be doing some placer mining in Colorado .
  4. If you found a US supplier -- how about a link ?
  5. I looked this up , most out of stock . So far only one was also in UK -- but sold in UK only ?
  6. Not sure if low latency Aptx II . Do not know , yet , tried to email , but could not without giving ph. # , so will call Monday to find out . Has anyone else seen or tried these ? Should be good for hot weather , rain - " water proof " , if detecting in the road 😉 This was a YouTube link https://reward-tech.net/inductivv/US/?ci=15162874074&ai=128802866145&de=c&dm=&cr=582320750802&ts=ytv&kw=&ac=1072036149&gclid=CjwKCAiAsYyRBhACEiwAkJFKoiGFBUyJ-UjIf5rzEIrtyOX1_qHyL4xMR26RjI94lV81fXkOVgJmgRoCsWAQAvD_BwE
  7. I would say if the REALLY own the claim , then starting at 50% - then either side make there case . There just too many variables to put a hard figure on it without more info . If they do not own the claim --- 1st you have to see who - if anybody does . Then if they just own the surface rights , may start at 10% --- but again too many variables , again off hand I generally do not think that a 50% split is way to much for you investment & experience [ unknown - have to assume ] , sure he owns the property --- but not the mineral rights , in some cases you could claim the mineral rights and demand access - is possible . But to avoid issues , maybe as high as 25% . If he wants 50% - he has to do the digging 😉 I'm also interested in others ideas , I have lots of deals , partners ect. and it goes all over the place , I've only turned down a few .
  8. Dang , somebody fines that large a nugget - that makes the price of gold go down - SUPPLY & demand ;( Reminds me of a saying I was told - by a friend as we went to auctions , Prospective buyer offers $950,000 , instead of the 1 million asking price and the seller turns down the offer , " That's when two fools met " 😉 But then a million dollars ain't what it use to be ;(
  9. Still wanting some geological discussion , none above so far ? Again , it's not a show I watch all the way through , just when I am going through the channels to see what's on , I stop & watch for a few min. , but so far every time I do , the seen is all flat ground , with sometimes hills mountains in the distance , from most of what I have seen in the US , the big gold is in the mountains , with smaller gold in the flat lands ? So again some geology explaining , thanks .
  10. Not too long ago one of the local TV channels started showing Aussie Gold show . What I started to notice almost every episode showed flat ground ? So wondering how that works , from my understanding of geology [ limited ] we need generally plate tectonics / movement , heat , pressure , mountains etc. So some guesses on my end , Australia has some of the oldest land masses , so all the high spots have worn-off ? But then the river valleys do not seem to be there / deep ? Is that more of the coriolis effect Hell I can't afford to get back to CA etc. , otherwise I would come down there to play 😉
  11. Too many variables and terms in the question - prospector = someone looking for a place to mine 😉 Many good replies , where a person is & goes . So we have to assume [ always trouble ] only metal detecting - not mining - that starts doing volume / equipment , so a more involved question limited to DETECTING either natural gold or manmade ? No way to compare , in a real sense - to totalling separate things with the only thing in common is metal detector . Hell , I know of someone that refines mostly stuff his wife gets at garage sales , dollar stores and has trained her how to evaluate jewelry , silverware etc. and scrap from jewelers between the 2 of them & working with jewelers , he has stated $30,000 a month . The last couple of yrs. + doing electronics repair , I started recovering valuable metals from electronics , limiting that to just gold & silver [ I also get cash from copper , aluminum , stainless ect. ] is more than general detecting , but that is because of most of the time just in the metro area of St. Paul & Minneapolis , no natural gold to bother looking for - glacial deposits , most of the beaches have replaced sand with grass - bummer , and less & less gold in electronics . But still prospecting all of the above - trying to get away from FIAT MONEY 😉
  12. The link seems to be pointed at the middle east , north africa , 3rd world etc. ? So DNA - does not apply - to no America ? One of these days , hope to be able to take one or more of your classes 😉
  13. No mention of the [ have to guess silicone grease ] , always a good idea for links to battery , maybe even a small tube of grease ?
  14. Now cast some gold bullets , what silver for vampires & gold for mammoth grizzlys 😉 I would like to come and play with , aaa fury friends & gold .
  15. I was dredging in No Cal in the 80s , had to put gear on backpack & climb into creek [ 4-10' wide x 1'-4' deep ] end of summer . Was working an area where I could just keep my head out of water bareilly , and feel around like racoon and then wait for the water to clear . Bedrock was on one side ot the creek and dropped quickly , felt a CRACK then bedrock into the creek . About the 3rd time working this crack - about one inch or so at the top , I looked down again with goggles on and while my face was in the water - I screamed [ maybe the 1st I remember ever screaming ] reached down , finger wide - looked much bigger , at the top of the crack was a nugget that was shaped like a heart , got on the scale latter and it weighed just under 3/4 ounce 😉 Started retiring from union carpentry 😉
  16. I was in Colorado about a month+ ago , this was an old load/hardrock claim , a very small creek between 2' - 6' wide & 3" - 6" deep , so not what I would call a placer claim at all [ not enough water to wash / have placer gold ] and doing any prospecting / mining in CO . To me it seemed like lots of hot-rocks , between hotrocks & all the man made metal , I played more with sluice . So looking at the 6000 , or other gold nugget detectors , it seems they are much better at not seeing the hotrocks ? Then the issue of not familiar with the NOX enough , almost exclusively using on beaches so far & just using pre programmed settings , need to have more time to figure adjusting for prospecting in that are , now not until next spring ;( I have read Steve's article at least twice , his site & Minelab's , also bought the 6" coil . Biggest problem is not being close enough to play / practice l( But I do electronics recycling , so have some gold , some as pure as 22k+ , most is above 10 grams , have to melt some little ones to play with , but finding similar ground here is not going to happen . Thanks

  18. If you have to ask , I would say no . If you could answer the question , maybe . Also a lot depends on how you live , the more stuff you want / need , the less likely you can make a living . I made a living placer mining . Detecting require much more knowledge / skill , basically that breaks down to the more you know , the less volume [ tones of earth ] you need to process - either placer or detecting .
  19. Glad to have the site back , was worried for a couple weeks 😉
  20. Haven't checked out everything that " ultimate list of gold facts " but near the beginning , #14. It takes a special mixture of 1 part nitric acid and 3 parts sulfuric acid, called aqua regia, to dissolve gold. Does not ring true , aqua regia is nitric acid & hydrochloric acid . But I have also found that there are more things / combination of things that will dissolve gold .
  21. Seems as though he did not try , adjust etc. with the 6000 , as much as he did with the 7000 ? But was worth watching .
  22. Well $6,000 would get me close to a truck to get me near gold fields [ 94-98 Dodge Ram 5.9 Cummins ] then after getting a truck to take get me close to gold , use my Equinox 800 to find some gold to pay for the 6000 . Most people call it a fixed income , I call it a broken income --- detecting helps to fix the broken income 😉
