  1. I had a F22 and now a F44 and they are virtually the same machine performance wise with the same size coil. F44 just has Gb and a few other things. I expect they will give them new paint jobs and lower the price below Simplex on the F44. With the 7.69? frequency they are really hot on coins. I mostly hunt playgrounds and don't need a machine to pick up targets 8-12" deep.

  2. The metal detector mkt is over sold. Kind of like what happened to baseball card mfg's in the 80's. There were too many of them. For my kind of hunting (playgrounds) a Tesoro works great. I don't want a machine that goes 10-15" deep. Most of my targets are only a few inches deep.

Tag,  there is a  'Tesoro 9X8 metal detector coil' on ebay  presently. Description says it's new and it's a 4 pin. Auction ends Sat. 1 pm. I have one and it is a good match for both the Vaquero and the  Lobo ST.  The Compadre with the 5.75 C has excellent discrimination and  goes fairly deep for it's small footprint, not quite so much with any of the other coils.  Having the 5.75 C for the Vaquero would definitely be redundant, but if you ever find a 5.75 WS grab it.  I find it the best coil on the Lobo ST for nugget hunting a patch and it should do nearly as well on the Vaquero.     To cover large park type areas I use a 3X18 WS on the Vaquero to locate and mark targets then go back to the markers with the Compadre (5.75C) for discriminating and pinpointing.    Coils have different personalities and react somewhat differently depending on the ground and the machine they are attached to. The fun is finding the combinations that fits your needs.

I won that coil last week and he sent me a 11 DD instead. I told him I would just keep it.  Mars makes a 7"DD that I have on F44 and it goes as deep as the 11DD. I think there is one for Vaquero on Ebay for $120.

The 10x12 widescan  is 1.285 lbs with coil cover. Air test it hits a med gold ring and nickels at 13.5, pennies and dimes just below that. My air test was don in my basement with extremely high emi and find the numbers are similar or better in  ground. The Tejon has a higher frequency and I believe the widescan lowers that frequency a bit as the tone breaks seem a little off where I can tone out bottle caps with the smaller coil the larger they tend to ring in higher above where I usually run my discrim.

I think the 10x12 would work better on the Vequero and probably what it was originally tuned for?

It has 9x8. First hunt today at ballpark and score a 925 ladies ring!

It doesn't have an adjustable vco audio so my guess is it is like the default variable audio that is on the Tejon. If so you will probably have an easier time identifying objects as the sound varies more than just a flat pitch and not need to listen for subtle rolls or pops. I have both the 10x12 widescan and the 8x9 stock concentric. Though the concentric is shy in depth by 3" or so and doesn't cover nearly as much ground I find it a killer in high trash areas, far better than any dd I have used since it has a small scan area and your not swiping over other trash from tip and tail. If yours has a dd, try to snag the concentric.

It has the 8x9 which I've had before. I'm thinking of getting a 7" Mars Lion coil for it. I got one for my Fisher F22 and it air tested dimes and pennies at 10" which is pretty good for a small coil. I hunt a lot of tot lots and I can get around the equipment better with a smaller coil.

As good or better as any single frequency Tesoro but brand new with warranty and probably for less money. I noted multifrequency is better but people have detected saltwater for ages with single frequency. It’s not like single frequency does not work, but I do think multi is better for salt.

I used a Mojave on the beach in NC back in March and found a silver dime. Went onto the wet sand and it wasn't that chatty though I had switched the GB to high. I went back to same beach in July and could not do anything with it on wet sand. Don't know why the change. Only difference was warmer temps and a lot more people.

  7. Hello. I first detected back in early 80's with a Compass Relic Magnum 7. Got out of it and started back last year with a Tesoro Mojave.  Currently using 3 Tesoro's, F22 and At Pro. I mainly playground hunt but will do relic hunts occasionally. Have a Youtube channel with same name.
