Im reaching out to see If anyone has one on this forum and if they could confirm a few dimensions?

How big of a sluice are you wanting to make?

I would start with that first and then the mat would fill the inside except for the funnel top section.

For the top I would look at the standard Keene sluice and make it like that  with the rubber mat at the funnel.

Place your insert inside the remainder of the sluice.

Something about 1 1/2 meters long should work for the creeks where you are at. Make the sluice out of aluminum including the funnel for ease of carrying to your location.

Most small sluices are about .15 meters wide with others about .254 meters and they do a great job.

I have made standard sluices from wood and metal and have had good luck with them.

I would like to hear how yours works when you make it. I do like the design of what you have so I will watch this thread for your reply.

  2. Very nice piece that you are holding and a very nice find.

I would be willing to bet that the person who is actually looking in the field known for gold will be the one who finds it.

Some people will research an area, but that does not tell you just how many others have already been there and done that on that piece of ground. Should you have an idea of where it is at like the old prospectors did then you will find more.

Good luck and happy hunting. Make sure you carry plenty of detectors and keep them cool in the heat. If not just say the word and I will help you as much as I can. You won't have to worry about the gold you find as I will keep it safe and sound. I promise it will be safe, just keep repeating that to yourself when making a decision on who you pick to help carry your finds.

  3. Welcome aboard and please feel free to ask questions, and maybe answer a few if you know the answer.

Please post some of those finds no matter how odd they may look.

My specific question to 2Valen is:  what concentration of Permethrin are you using?

Sorry for that, as I use between .5% to .75% solution. When I used the .5% it seemed that some chiggers did get past it, and then when using the .75% it completely stop all insects from getting through. I find the higher concentration stays on the clothes a little longer and I have had no problems with it.

I buy the 10% concentrate bottle.

He lives in S IL just north of Alton and not many mosquitos there.

I am just 45 minutes from Alton, and believe me there are plenty of mosquito's here. I am out in the country only a mile from a lake with creeks all around me.

You are in an area on the gulf next to Biloxi I believe, and you have a few down there.

The last time I was in Alaska there was nothing to keep them critters off a person, and all you could do is use netting. Half of the time they would just cut through it and laugh in your face.

Good luck and keep an anchor on you in case they try to carry you off.
