  1. So let me get this straight, you are using your grandson as bait for the mosquito's, while you go panning and metal detecting? Beautiful country up there and that is a great idea you have for the bait to keep them off of yourself. Have fun and good luck!
  2. And I thought that was my position with all the can slaw, pull tabs, bottle caps, aluminum foil, and the other trash. KOB welcome and thanks for the laughs.
  3. I am 60 miles south of Springfield, Illinois, and I agree with the weather report from you. It reminds me when Robin Williams gave the weather report in the movie Good Morning Vietnam.
  4. So when you say your a prospector you really mean it in so many ways.
  5. Beautiful finds and glad to know that I need to keep digging those ranges. Love the turquoises pendant very nice and I bet your wife is wanting it.
  6. The ring to the left of the center ring looks old, take a closer look at the diamond in it and it might be a keeper. That ring is worn and has the same looks as one I gave to my first wife, it was handed down from my grandmother. Who knows you may have a century diamond there. Great hunt and keep up the good work.
  7. Great finds and wish I could get back out there. Keep up the good work and happy hunting. What part of the country are you in as it sounds like your close to where I am at, hot humid and no breeze.
  8. Just Refiners 620 Greg St, Sparks, NV 89431 (775) 501-6094. That is about the only one that I know of that might be able to help you out.
  9. My mistake, mine was fairly larger than most with a diamond in it, and was about the size of a nickel. It was probably heavier than yours as I never weighed it (no scales ) to determine the weight. My wife showed it to me when I asked her about it, she is hoping I find the other one.
  10. That is strange, last year I was in field 2 setting and factory settings all the way around and came across a similar earring about 3 inches down. The signal was week but sounded in both directions around 10-12 VDI. Was park 2 the only setting you used and after GB and Noise what were your settings?
  11. Very interesting video and demonstration. I like what I see and I could use this for a couple of other uses while panning or running a sluice.
  12. Great finds that you have snagged and I hope that you keep up the great work. Good luck on your next hunt.
  13. I would simply tell the seller that it is not what he has stated and let him know it is only worth about half of what he wants. I would also provide proof of what you are saying when you talk to him. At that price it would be a good price if it works properly.
  14. Steve I think I will stay with my Keene pans, I know them well and they are in great shape. Nice article on this product and they are really trying to make it sound like all the others are junk.
  15. Great find Norm, I find the 800 to be great at finding items next to trash that others have missed. Good luck on your next hunt and stay safe out there.
  16. Great piece of history you found, good job and happy hunting.
  17. Thanks Steve it seems to be running faster, but it has just one problem for me. I still haven't found any gold with it, maybe one day it will show itself to me. Thank you for all your hard work on this wonderful site and your dedication to this life!
  18. Simon I know exactly what you are talking about, as I have the same problems in the creeks that I have done around my neck of the woods. It would be so good to have a nice flat scoop to use. Right now I have to buy 4 or 5 plastic shovels for a child's sand box just to make it a season to get the gold. One of these days someone will make them in different styles that are useful for us.
  19. Welcome Hello, When looking for gold in a place such as yours with all the streams, I suggest doing what Steve H. has suggested. The reasons are that when you find gold in your pan, follow it up the creek or stream to find where it came from. Get as much as you can from the streams, and then with the equinox 800 locate the larger stuff around the creeks acn streams. While doing so along the streams you may come across coins and such left by campers for 100's of years ago. You are in a very unique location and yes you will find what you are wanting. Vikings were water travelers so the banks were their camps.
  20. Nice story and thank you for posting it, it looks like an Equinox detector, but I might be wrong.
  21. Everyone has given the best answers already, but in my neck of the woods, I offer a 6 pack of their favorite drink if I find anything of value. I have about 20 places to hunt when my neck is in better shape and I am able to look at my detector.
  22. I think you should of put it next to a $100,000 Bar instead of a Snickers. Approach the museum curators or a local bank that may want to display it. Figure out the approximate value of gold content and double that for a starting price. Banks may want it to show off their assets to the general public and their customers. That gives you 2 options for that beautiful nugget.
  23. Seems like they just don't make anything like they used to. A neighbor has an old Jeep Willy's that he has wanted to sell for quite some time. Beautiful Army Jeep with the trailer and all original equipment. 2 different windshields, spare parts of all kinds, and has little to no rust on it. He has never had any Bondo put on it and the paint is in great shape. Motor runs good, and so does the transmission. This past winter he was in his garage replacing the fuel pump because he thought it needed it. Don't know how much he wants for it as it is in great shape but I have seen him take it in places that I wouldn't go in a full size pickup. It is a collectible item so I would imagine he would want good money for it, I will ask if anyone wants to know what it would take to buy it.
  24. I thought about making something like that, but in my neck of the woods someone would walk by see it and break in to make a couple of bucks. I have started making a case that will hook to the clothes hooks on my vehicle so I can insert my detectors and close the back hatch. All I have to do is loosen the shaft, turn the handle 90 degrees and slide it in. That way when people look in they see an empty vehicle and my seats can stay in the upright position. When I get it done I will post it on here and give the plans for it.
