Beach Season Has Begun
Joe D. replied to schoolofhardNox's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
I'm always happy when removing, and seeing removed, sharp objects from a beach, as I know what it is like; and have treated in my past career, injuries to feet from them! Great job with all your finds; treasure and trash! And Happy New Year!ππ- 206 replies

Hello From Dirty Paws In California Just North Of Reno Nv.

Welcome Adam, Sounds like your not too far away from our forum owner Steve H.! Good luck on the gold!πππ -
Hello Matt and welcome back! I think the 540 is a fine detector, as I have one too! As long as your soil isn't too mineralized, It will do fine! It has a fixed Ground Balance, which has given some people problems! But in my Florida soil, I have found plenty of good stuff with no problems so far!!π€ My favorite, and most used coil is the V8 so far, but I have all three! Keep us informed on how it goes! We like pics and stories! Good luck!πππ

Not much more I can say to you Momo, other than welcome to the forum! The rest of the "crew" here have got you covered and up to date!! Keep us informed in any case! We don't mind seeing finds from old detectors either! The CZ is no slouch!! Good luck!πππ

Welcome back "D", Sorry to here about the Covid issues! And wishing for a full recovery! Fully agree on the Nox 600! While the 600 has a very good proven history, it also has some proven flaws; albeit few! But it is well tested at this point, and service is great! But you also have to consider his interest going forward! There are other very good detectors with a lower price point, that are multifrequency; albeit with a few less features, to consider! Good luck in whatever you pick! And for a speedy recovery!πππ

Howdy Tom, Welcome to the forum! Glad you found us! You will save alot of time, and aggravation by using this forum often! Wish I had found it sooner than I did! Good Luck with the new detector!πππ

Deus 2 Vs Nokta/Makro Legend
Joe D. replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
Hey Jeff, I'm in a little late on the conversation, as I just finished moving up to Melbourne (That's Fl., not Aus.π) yesterday!! π₯΅π₯³ My question is, do you, or anyone here, think that higher frequencies can be added to the Deus 2 with a download, the way ML did with the 4 khz? I'm sure yes! And was the lack of a higher frequency intentional on their part, as not to totally step on their previous model?ππ -
Modified PulseDive Detector
Joe D. replied to Jason China's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
I too would like to see more pictures and info, as I have one with both coils and the pinpointer! Looks like an interesting mod and gives expanded options for use! Also NW may make the mod their own, in the next model, if there's enough interest!?ππ -
I know that some old cast iron waste pipes had lead poured into the joined ends to seal and hold the pipes together! My house was built in 1941, and still has a few left, that I didn't replace, as they were still intact! I'm not sure in what form/shape the lead was in before being used by the plumbers of the time though!!ππ

A Lot Of Nokta Legends Will Be Sold
Joe D. replied to Rick N. MI's topic in Nokta / Makro Legend Forum
The only other thing that the legend isn't gonna attempt to match with the Nox, is a 3 year warranty! I wish they had! That would help sell it also! I suppose they could add a year to any existing sales later, if needed! But they should put their best foot forward now, while the iron is hot!! And also, I think I read that the Deus 2 will have a 5 year warranty! I don't remember what the current Deus has, if anyone wants to chime in!!ππ -
Good info Simon, As I don't watch ML stock price! But you may be on to some indicators that they may be preparing for in the future! They are by no means stupid, and are probably in a good position to make some predictive adjustments!ππ

Deus 2 Vs Nokta/Makro Legend
Joe D. replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
GB, I must have missed the bashing of the Nox!? But for me, I have no problem pointing out the weaknesses; or strengths, of any machine, (if i feel i know it well) when we are in "comparison mode"! But for the moment, we are not at that point yet!! It's highly subjective to take some "couple year old" detectors, and use them to compare with the newest ones! But it always happens! So be it! Most of us, that have been around detecting long enough, have seen this before, and can sort it out, based on our wants, or needs! The hype falls on deaf ears for many of us here! "Been there done that" and all that stuff! All I really care about is that the technology, and quality of build progresses, for all that want to stay in the game! As for ML being "Top Dog", they earned it; flaws included!! But nothing lasts forever, and if gold prices took an extended dive, their fortune's could change rapidly, and someone else will inevitably fill the gap! I never bet against underdogs, and look forward to several companies new machines now; NM, XP! And in the near future, including the next ML, Garrett, Rutis, etc.. iterations!!ππ -

Legend Added To Nokta/Makro Website
Joe D. replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Nokta / Makro Legend Forum
See you put up a new selfie Steve!!π€π I very much like all the controls on the front, and none on the sides, which have been awkward on another! Very clean looking! I'm guessing the big coil and accessories may take a little time to become available, especially with shipping issues!!ππ -

Nokta/Makro Legend Specs & First Photos
Joe D. replied to Rick N. MI's topic in Nokta / Makro Legend Forum
Sorry to hear that Simon!π΅ I would shoot Delik an email or PM, and make sure she is aware of this, as they should be able to make some adjustments for the dealers there!! If they are going to compete in ML's back yard, they need to make it equitable! π€ππ KFCπ -
Deus 2 Vs Nokta/Makro Legend
Joe D. replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
Right there with ya Rob, This is a little off topic, but every price range has idiots! Price is not a limiting factor for stupidity or lack of common sense! But for the most part, it's the few beginner's who don't bother to learn anything about the hobby; just buy an "off the shelf" detector, and dig away without any knowledge of ethics, or consequences! Of course, there are exceptions, and some "seasoned" people who just don't care! Or are trespassing, and digging illegally! We can't police everyone! But on the plus side, many new people that I have seen come to this forum, and others for advice, info, etc... seem to care, and are mostly aware of the general rules of the field, as they have been reading this, and other forums, as non-members for awhile, which is good to see! You also have to remember that there are "those" that don't approve of "Treasure Hunters" in general, and are willing to go to great lengths to throw us all under the bus, every chance they get! Even to the extreme of "staging" spots to "blame" on those π€¬ metal detecting guys!! ππ -
Deus 2 Vs Nokta/Makro Legend
Joe D. replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
I'm not going to attempt overthinking any covert maneuvers, that any of the companies are possibly attempting! I consider myself, an intermediate detectorist at best, and focus on the most bang for the buck! Under a thousand dollars is where I live! You all, that have been at this a long time, generally have higher expectations and needs, than myself! That being said, I'm not worried about too many people sticking with the hobby! The Legend is squarely priced in that "sweet spot" for people in my intermediate realm! Many will probably buy, use a handful of times, and give up, or sell! Great for the secondary market, and NM's bottom line! Or maybe some of them may simply move up from one of NM's lesser models, and stick with it for awhile! I'm ok either way, as I don't look at other's detecting as competition, but rather as allies against the overregulation of our hobby, and more voices to help change some of the limiting rules already in place! Many of us aren't getting any younger, and personally, l don't mind a younger set, who know the proper rules, to follow behind us, and keep the hobby alive and well! JMOππ -
Thanks Simon, You and the family are good people!! I was really hoping that you would take a wack at finding whatever she lost, when the time was right! The hidden compartment was a bonus! And very cool scenery, as usual, from NZ; beautiful there!! I hope the Good Carma generated nets you some good finds! A gold coin, ring, or decent sized nugget will do nicely! Anyway, thanks for taking us along, and may Good Luck follow, and catch you!!πππ

Nokta/Makro Legend Specs & First Photos
Joe D. replied to Rick N. MI's topic in Nokta / Makro Legend Forum
I have never been one to be an early adopter of anything untested! But the fact that Delik, and NoMak actually listened to what people want, is a "big" plus for me! So I am already on a pre-order list, as of today! No real downside here, as I have a few very nice detectors and coils, that I can sell, and was planning too next year anyway! I'm very hopeful that NM did a bang-up job on the Legend! So I am stepping up early this time!!πππ -
