  1. I made a quick decision to hit the beach this morning at low tide, with the G2+! As you know, I just set it up last night, and hadn't even cracked the manual open yet! So out on the beach with only some idea how to work this detector! The grip and S-rod are comfortable, and it swings nicely, even with the 13" ultimate! I will be adding my counterweight shorty! I started at the low tide mark, and zig-zaged back and fourth on the wet sand! I did my best to put threshold and gain in the correct range, but the salt was still giving this big coil some feedback! I still found stuff, but only three coins In the dry sand! The rest was junk; but educational just the same!! All toll, i was only out about an hour when the rain hit! I was satisfied, for the time being, with the setup! Also, the beach was quite sanded in this week!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  2. I found a few in the Ukraine; that was it! That cover didn't have any holes for the knobs and toggles though! What good is that!! Another was for a different box model, the DFX i think! But had too many hole's! Can't win it seems! I contacted Doc of Doc's covers, but he only does MineLabs! And didn't have any suggestions for the Whites! And i have looked on many sites! I guess the search goes on!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  3. Thankfully i got the coils a couple hours later today!πŸŽ‰ So i went right to work getting them configured the way i initially planned to use them! The Beach Setup: The G2+ "Pinky" has changed her colors! Now sporting a Jeff Herke arm cuff, a neoprene pod cover, and a Detech Ultimate 13" coil! Also has a Nel Snake 3.5x6.5 coil! The Trashy Parks Setup: The MXT now is sporting the Ultimate 7" coil! Still have to find a box and pod cover! Also has a Detech Ultimate 13" coil! Plus i still will use their original coils, if needed! So there went my budget for the year!πŸ’£πŸ’₯ Now i need to gather my yearly finds together, and cash them in!πŸ’° Can't wait for the testing phase to commence!! More to Come!!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  4. The Detectors have arrived!!🍭🍭 Thank's Gerry, of Gerry's Detectors, for the Whites MXT All-Pro!! And Amazon, for the Teknetics G2+ "Pinky" special! Just waiting for the coils from MetalDetector.com to arrive!! And some Cooler weather to give me a 🀬 break!! In the meantime, i have to read up on these two! Updates to come! Stay tuned!!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  5. Elbert, If you have a smartphone, it may work much better! I rarely use a computer anymore for anything! Too slow, and too many virus issues!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  6. Yeah Simon, Of course coins were not only buried, but hidden in as many locations as human ingenuity would allow! My favorite was solid wood doors! Old timers would use an augar, or paddle bit to drill holes into the tops of doors! They would then put silver dollars, and gold coins in these holes and seal up! Some never recovered! I've always suspected that is one of the main reasons why, in old salvaged houses, the doors are the first thing to go! And get examined, before being sold off!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  7. My "pinky" should be here tomorrow or friday! I'm sure it's the real deal!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  8. Chase, I'm glad you pointed the edit button out! I thought we lost it!πŸ€£πŸ‘πŸ‘
  9. I like the blue; looks sharp! Keep up the good work!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  10. Cool Post GB!! Great year! My birth year! That Coin Ranger reads like it can do more than a modern detector! Ready to hunt everything for $85 dollars! I want one!! Reminds me of a floor buffer! Watch out Minelab!!πŸ€£πŸ‘πŸ‘
  11. Hey all, So here's my question!! Sounds like a variety of great coin machines that everyone had, or has!! But are they in use? Or collecting dust in the corner, or sold?? And has this post inspired anyone to pull one out that they still have, and crank it up for a hunt again?? Sounds like it's about time for an old detector shootout!πŸ€£πŸ‘πŸ‘
  12. Caleb, Pinpointing with the 800; or any detector, takes some practice! The same applies to pinpointers! You have the right attitude to learn! It's just a matter of putting in the time! Your grandfather left you some solid equipment; don't let it rattle you! And remember, there are no stupid questions! And congrats on the old dime! Post a pic!!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  13. The old school virus is spreading! 🀣 And i am out of likes already! Hit you back later bigtim! My MXT is due to hit the door anytime today!!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  14. Caleb, Commit this to memory: There are no stupid questions on this forum!! If anyone says any different, Steve H., and the rest of us will make sure that person know's better, soon after!! Everyone here is at different levels of experience! And any egos should be left at the forum doorway!!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  15. What type of materal are the seals and O-Rings?? Salt water is rough on many rubber compounds! That may be one of the problems with some of the other submersible detectors on the market right now!!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  16. Yes Wow, Impressive collection! I'm now entering a stage in my life where i really want to start shedding stuff I've collected, and held on to, for way too long! I'm hoping to be moving within the next year, and i need to shed much that i no longer have a need, or attachment for! I'm sure i will feel less stress, when i finally get this ongoing process accomplished! πŸ‘πŸ‘
  17. Yeah, You beat me by 20 years!! (52)! But it's all good!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  18. Great post, You all are getting me more excited about the goodies i have coming soon! For the G2+: An Ultimate 13" and a Nel Snake 6.5 x 3.5 (Simon's Recommendations!)πŸ‘πŸ‘ For the MXT Pro: An Ultimate 13" and an Ultimate 7" I resisted buying any more coils for the Nox 800, because i wanted a better selection, or aftermarket one's! But it appears that ML will not ever make them, or allow anyone else to either! (800 traded away now!)πŸ‘‹ But I'm excited to try out the new detectors and coils! Talk about a kid in a candy store!🍭 I even got a $100 gift card, and a free digging tool with the coil order! Not too bad! (MetalDetector.com)! I will post updates under my post "A Tail of Two Detectors✌", as i experiment with these new combinations!! Wish me Luck!!πŸ‘πŸ‘ **And one more thing!! If anyone can help me find someone who makes or sells a multi-piece dust cover for the MXT Pro, it would be very much appreciated! I've been looking all over for one!! I've only seen ONE out of the Ukraine, and it would take about 2 months to get here!! And didn't have a visor!!
  19. Simon, With all you post about what you do, i don't think anyone here, is ever going to label you as being lazy! I would take your definition of lazy any day!!πŸ˜‚πŸ‘πŸ‘
  20. Joe, Don't beat yourself up too bad! I've done the same thing a few times!!πŸ€£πŸ‘πŸ‘
  21. Hey Rick, I like what you said about the T2! This is part of my recent line of thinking in my recent switch in detectors! I just bought a G2+ and a MXT Pro! It seems like a counterintuitive move from the Nox 800 that i traded! But in my mind, i think it will be a good move! And i will be more successful! Time will tell!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  22. Hey Bill, I found some nylon shims, or washers that were about that thickness at Lowes, in the specialized hardware drawers! I used those in conjunction with the rubber shims! I also was able to take different thicknesses of the Detect-Ed shims and put two on each side of the shaft head! That seemed to work better than the shims! They gave more resistance to coil movement, than the nylon shims! Without over tightening! And making contact with the shaft head!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  23. Welcome to the forum, My dad calls my son Dougman!πŸ‘ I just told my son that he's been on the forum without me!🀣 Nice to have a rock hound here to identify the variety members find!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  24. My Treasure Products 585 pinpointer did pick up very small metals, but you had to be relatively close to it with the tip! But I've used it for years without any problems! I don't have any gold nuggets to test on, or i would let you know! It does pick up very small lead! I'll do some tests with both!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  25. Thank's Simon!πŸ‘πŸ‘ (I'm out of likes again)!!
