Hello all, I'm currently up in Georgia working on family property, getting ready for hunting season!π¦ I'm with my son and dad, so no time to detect this trip! But there's always time to hunt for flint and arrowheads! Most all the fields are planted now, so hunting areas are limited to washes, and recently cleared areas! Finishing up work this morning, i did some scouting in an area cleared last winter! Had some rains since than, so figured it may have exposed something! We found some knapped piece's yesterday! And were back there again! My son had scouted the area, but missed a keeper! It's tough to find one that has not been broken! But this one was small enough to be intact! It was laying on top of the ground, shining in the sun! My first intact small arrowhead! Still have more work, and sight hunting to do! Joe D.ππ

Can You Help To Identify This Strange Ring?
Joe D. replied to AussiWest's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
Reminds me a lot of the "One Ring", from "Lord of the Rings"!! Related script, but in affordable copper! Is it a kid size ring?? Also, i think i remember Phrunt found a gold (reproduction) version of this one (below) in NZ! Good Luck! Cool ring!!ππ -
Hey MN, Glad to have you! Great place to learn, and share experiences! Keep us posted!ππ

Wow, you definitely saved a few people a trip to the ER! Great job! May the good deed be rewarded with gold!ππ

Hey Mitchel, In the past, i have found that you have to rough up the surrounding rubber of the hole or rip to get good adhesion! Than apply a patch and glue with good overlap! A lot like patching a tire! With Shoe Goo, E6000, or 100% silicone! Than recoat, covering the patch and surrounding area again! If you can apply a patch inside and outside, sandwiching the problem area, all the better! If that doesn't work, maybe a neoprene diving boot (no metal, and has good tread) would hold up better! Mine were about $40-50, (above the ankle) and have held up well so far!ππ

The right buyer, or a good jeweler. Will have it reset with stones of their liking! But a comparison picture to go with it couldn't hurt! Have an appraisal, maybe a reputable jeweler that deals in antique jewelry can identify the maker by workmanship alone! I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you don't already know! Just thinking out loud!! No offense! Love the stuff you find!!ππ

Joe, Great finds! Cool ring! Those coins are encrusted the same, and conditioned the same, as the walking half i found earlier this year in fresh water! Too bad they don't hold up better! But the ring is in great condition! If it's real Art Deco,(maker's mark??) should definitely be more valuable than melt! It should be a keeper!!ππ

Important Announcement From White's Electronics
Joe D. replied to snakejim's topic in White's Metal Detectors
That brings up a good question! And your one of the people, to give it a go Simon! Being the former electronics guy! (anybody can chime in also!) Are the parts generic, and just the software proprietary? Or are there propietary parts too? ** Forgive my limited knowledge of the inner workings of detectors!! -
Simon, Is one of them attached to your gold bottle yet?? Had to ask!! I do my best to help you out, from across the pond, my friend!! (Not that you need it!)π (Remember, i previously suggested a neck vile!) πππ€£

Important Announcement From White's Electronics
Joe D. replied to snakejim's topic in White's Metal Detectors
That's good news! I'm happy for White's owners to be able to get repairs!! My concern is, god forbid; what if something happens to Todd? Is there an alternative repair spot or person's?? ππ -
Wishing My Fellow East Coasters A Safe Hurricane Event!
Joe D. replied to Joe D.'s topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
Not much erosion for us! But i expect some finds up in the Mid Eastern States to appear!ππ -
Bull sharks are of particular concern in fresh, and salt water! They have been found hundreds of miles up into freshwater river's to have their young! Which than act's as a nursery, until they make their way, eventually, to the ocean! There have been numerous attacks documented in fresh water, over hundreds of years!ππ

Yes GB, I wear UV protective, light colored, quick dry, long sleeve shirts, when i hunt! Pretty much year round! And i would do the same anywhere else, with as much sun as we get! But the high humidity here, won't let the shirts dry very much at all! For me anyway! Hence the spares! And also, skin cancer sucks!! Because it often goes unnoticed!! Just as much as the rest of the cancer's that plague us!ππ

I'm very efficent on the beach with a pinpointer! Not that I'm in a rush! And it depends on the type of (dry) sand your beach has to shake out! Shaking too vigorously can damage jewelry and settings, and loose gemstones! Also, good luck sifting post earrings, and micro jewelry!! They just keep falling through the holes!ππ
-
That's what plasti dip is good for! Pick your color, when it gets warn out! Peel it off, and redip!ππ
-
I learned quickly to use a lanyard! (Curly bungee type with S/S wire!) Had to backtrack 1/2 mile of beach to find mine, years ago! Killed my hunt that day! Not fun! ππ
-
Hey GB, I've been wondering about those myself! I have just begun to get into more saltwater hunting! And wondered if i needed one; and also a secondary handle, so i don't break the pod mounts! Like someone else π we know!! I'm sticking to the stock shaft for now! And I'm almost done setting up my new waterproof earbuds; not headphones! I would love input from you dedicated Nox ocean hunters!ππ
-
Didn't know you were swinging a Museum Quality detector! π€£ Isn't white cooler in the desert? It doesn't matter here, the humidity has me sweating, no matter what color i wear! I bring extra shirts!ππ Bye the way, i love the blue!!
-
Hey Digs, I'm curious why not blue in the desert?? Enlighten me please!ππ
