  1. Didn't want to start any controversy here guys! Or get off subject! I've only read bits and pieces concerning Culpeper, and thought it was interesting as to what works in those types of zones!( including Apex) And was also wondering if the black sand beaches reacted in a similar fashion! Or are a whole different set of problems! Just trying to increase my knowledge base for different types of areas i have never hunted in, for future reference! Maybe this deserves its own thread! Or already has one! Thanks all!👍👍
  2. Thank's George, I did a little geologic research! And now get the gist of the problems with the Culpeper area!👍👍
  3. Just out of curiosity, after your "jumper" the other day! Had you gotten there earlier, would you have just trailed these two from a respectable distance, or what is your move, when dealing with multiple others? I haven't had to deal with this very often!
  4. Unusual ring TT, Happy that you got all the sections! Nice find!👍👍
  5. Hey George, Quick question or four, How bad is your soil, and which detectors do you use most in it?? No multi works in it well?? I was looking at you list of detectors used in your profile, and didn't see an EQ 600 or 800 in there! Any reason?? And how well is the Tarsacci working out for you, vs it's price point?? A little off topic; i know!! Thanks!!👍👍
  6. Cleaning is a tough choice! And much depends on the soil, and readability of the coin! I've come to appreciate the varied patina's of coins! And i have not sold any yet! And don't plan too! But the least that you can do to a coin, jewelry, or artifacts, is usually the best option! There are always exceptions and opinions about this! But it's up to each of us to make that choice!👍👍
  7. Aww man, I didn't know we were submitting resumes for detector testing today! Dilek, my dog ate mine!! But i did stay at a Holiday Inn Express! 🤣😂👍👍
  8. Good idea George! I'm in!! I'll test sample one on S. Florida beaches! Thank's in advance Dilek!🤣👍👍
  9. Welcome Gypsy, Glad your here! For those of us that don't know you yet, can you tell us some more info about what you use, and hunt, etc...(besides those gold nuggets; thats a given) Thanks!👍👍
  10. Looks nice, Post a few more pics! And is that a junk ring to the left?
  11. GB, Atlantic side; South Florida! The way to remember Atlantic and Gulf; is sunrises on the Atlantic, and sunsets on the Gulf!! (Gulf much preferred IMO!!) The storm and wind field obviously did some good here! For detector guy's, and kite surfer's anyway!! And as any Coastal hunter can tell you, the opportunities can open and close so rapidly, that it's hard to react quickly enough much of the time!! When i hunt in Georgia, i know that pretty much the only thing that is going to change, is a ploughed, or mowed field to open things up, that aren't already accessible!👍👍 Kac, The car was without any wheels! Or else i would have tried to give it to this little kid that was asking his mom, what i was doing!!🙋‍♂️ I like to give the good toys away, along with a "Treasure" coin or two, to curious little kids; with the parent's permission, of course!! You never know where the future detectorists are going to come from!! I haven't forgotten my fascination with treasure; from when i was little!! (Oak island, Charles Garrett, and more...) But i know times are different now! And i don't want to come off as creepy either!!👍👍
  12. I would not recommend the sun, or rice idea; but that's me! I like to put my stuff in front of my A/C return! It is near the floor, and works great! Another option is packaged desiccants! DampRid is one sold most everywhere! I also save all the one's that come in packages, like medication bottles, etc...for just this type of issue! There usually of a small size, and can be stuffed in small areas like the battery compartment of the Nox! They and the object must be isolated though, or the desiccant will draw moisture from the air also, and not just your intended object! They must also be changed out, when they absorb so much! Hope that helps!👍👍
  13. SGD, I think any well built aluminum cart that is customized to suit your equipment will due! The killer is definitely the tires! I've built a few fishing carts, but none to handle that kind of weight! I think i have seen the solution though!!👍👍 Have you ever seen the beach wheelchairs used almost everywhere now at big resorts, and ADA equipped areas! They have ballon tires that glide over the sand with ease! And if they can handle a person's weight, they should serve you just fine! Modifications for the axle assembly should be pretty straight forward! Just make sure that it can be locked up securely! I would hate to see it "walk off"!! Hope that helps! Good Luck!! Let us know if this solution works! Post us some pics!!👍👍
  14. Yes Simon! You were the "Avid", and Steve was the "Experienced", in my description!! No offense to either of you if i got it wrong!! You can both be both, if you want!! It's more than i will ever know about prospecting, and nugget hunting!!🤣😂👍👍
  15. Hello Waz, Welcome to the forum!! You just got some great advice from some of the most avid and experienced gold hunters here! They, and others, are a deep well of great advice and experience! If you haven't posted an introduction in the Meet and Greet! Please do so, and give us some more info and background! Keep us posted on the Apex, and stuff! Good Luck!!💰👍👍
  16. Hey Jim, Can you do me a favor, and post the source of that silicone cover for the Nox! I think i bought the same one last year, and people here were asking me about it! ( it's in another post here somewhere) But i couldn't find it on Ebay anymore, or the paperwork for the guy who made them! It was a piece of quality work that i think more would like to have! And the price was right! Thanks Much!!👍👍
  17. You all are blowing me away with your mods lately! I'm going to have to sit down with my Dr. Frankenstein hat on, and do some mad scientist mods too!! (I did a counterweight for my Nox that i thought was pretty snappy!!)👍👍
  18. Wlt, You lucky "son of a gun"! I hope the luck keeps running for you!! Great work!👍👍
  19. Hello all, Everything seemed to be in alignment yesterday morning, when i woke up about 4 A.M., and couldn't go back to sleep after looking at the tides and weather! Had some issues that prevented me from getting out the last few weeks, so i was itching to go! The wind was ripping pretty good, and i had a spot in mind that had been renurished and ruined for quite a while, that should be showing signs of huntability again! Also, it's a spot that you can "dual hunt", meaning ocean beach and water, than a short walk away, intercoastal beach and shallow water!! I got there before sunrise to beat the heat, and low tide hit at around 7:15; perfect! Did a quick peek, and liked what i saw! Geared up; and within a few minutes, i found a decent coin line running North from the rocks, to open beach, about midway between the cliff and water! All the coins and other objects were on the harder shell layer, under about 6-8 inches of soft eroded sand! I followed it till it petered out, than backtracked a different line back to the rocks! I was hitting a few targets in the rocks, and got to finally put my new PulseDive to the test! It worked great! A few times, i had to put my detector and scoop above the surf, and hand dig, and test over and over for a few tough targets that were locked in crevices and rock holes! Cool, but a little time intensive! I was hoping for a sliver, or long lost gold item, but ended up with some 70's and 80's coins instead! All good though! After about 2 hours, the incoming tide was beating me back from the good area, so i took a break, than switched over to the calm intercoastal side for about another 2 hours of relaxed hunting; mostly in the water! Overall, i was happy with what i recovered, even though no gold or silver today! Now i know that i can return, as the erosion progresses hopefully! If not, i know the other side has some jewlery waiting for me! 👍👍
  20. This to me, is a product defect! I to have used shims and detect-ed gaskets to help prevent this problem again! But i think it needs to be acknowledged, and fixed by Minelab themselves! I *Hate It* when manufacturers know of problems, and keep pumping out the same defective product! Neither I, nor anyone else, should have to put out extra money to fix this problem, and the water leak problem! And yes, time lost on warranty repairs, is money! I paid for a Three year warranty!! Not a two and a half, or two and three quarter one! Warranty repairs have been good, but as I've said here before! Don't keep sending me the same defective product back again, so down the line, it becomes a repeat!! You all know the saying: "Don't piss on my head, And tell me it's raining"🌧 I will just spend my money elsewhere on someone else's superior product next time around!! And that's a promise!!👍👍
  21. Thanks all, for the input so far!! The EQ 800 has been great, but having to ship off parts twice now, leaves me with just the AT Pro, which is unusable in some of my usual situations! I didn't really want to duplicate the Nox, when there are other great options to be had! But i have time to see what comes down the pike within the next year!!👍👍
  22. Hello Stu, Welcome! I love to see finds other than just metal! Steve has a category for most everything we hunt! I hunt flint and arrowheads too! Amoung other things! At least you are using one of our "good" pennies for scale! And not a zincon!! That one would probably disintegrate before your eyes!! Embarrassing coin!! Good Luck, and post often!!👍👍
  23. Joe, Thanks for the video!👍 I have a few questions unrelated to finds! I don't see a flag or warning device! Do you "worry" about a boat or jet ski, running you down?? It's an issue here, with unskilled, young, or intoxicated operators!! And i may have mentioned this one before, but any shark/dolphin/rays/other scares?? We have Manatees, and other things! But you never know what may creep, step on, run into, or charge up!!😬😬 👍👍
