Ok all, I'm a little late to this thread, so a little background first! I haven't really looked at the Deus, since it first came out! So i consider myself pretty neutral for the two! I went through this thread, and watched part 1 and 2, and think it was fair to both so far! And i like them both! I have the EQ 800, and am relatively functional with it! I'm starting to investigate a machine to complement, but not necessarily overlap everything the 800 does, for a backup/goto machine! **So now, with what's been said, are these two going to combine into one machine?? And is this just a matter of software to make them one unit?? **Is the gap between the Orx and Deus, comparable to the 600 and 800?? And does ML face the same problem/ issue of having two basically identical machines with just different software?? I'm also obviously looking at other brands in these price ranges that can basically "do it all well"; but i will stick to the subject by just getting the XP input from you all that know these machines, for now!! Thank's in advance!ππ

Detector To Sweep For Needles
Joe D. replied to Groblin's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
May be a wiser investment to just purchase some puncture proof gardening gloves, if a magnet sweep does not produce reliable results!ππ -
Detector To Sweep For Needles
Joe D. replied to Groblin's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
It would also make a big difference if you were trying to recover sharps through top soil, or established sod! Sod would be very difficult for a magnet to pull through objects, unless right on surface!ππ -
Detector To Sweep For Needles
Joe D. replied to Groblin's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
The Home improvement stores sell a wide stick magnet that is used on construction sites to sweep for screws and nails! I'm sure you can find them online also!! This would be much more efficient for shallow sharps, than a detector!! Good Luck!ππ -

Ace Apex Production Announcement
Joe D. replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Garrett Metal Detectors
Simon, You know you can buy covers for most any detector if the color is "dog nuts"π objectionable! Also, a can of spray paint can fix any color! Maybe chrome color! That way it will look to everyone looking at it, almost invisible!πππ -

Submerged Salt, Nearing 30 Hours
Joe D. replied to jimpugh's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
So does the higher power of the AQ magnify the effect? And is the only way to resolve this, by hardwiring the coil? I guess that would toss out coil changes!? Also, is this a problem in fresh water too? Again, anyone can respond! Thanks for the education!ππ -

The connector, and the coil size both seem like they are easily fixed at this stage in development! Hopefully they are on the punch list! I think i saw where Rick mentioned a possible 8-9in. coil addition! Also Steve, you said this connector issue is common to other detectors! Does that include submersible VLF's??ππ ( Not putting you on the spot Steve, anyone can answer!!)π -
Hello Domenico, Been awhile!! You should visit more often! Love the WW1 finds!ππ

Ace Apex Production Announcement

Long live competition among the detector companies! I sure hope the Apex gives the others, a run for their money! And Garrett should be hotly working on the next iteration!!ππ -
Hey YubaJ, Are you familiar with the Turquoise out of the Nevada mines? I was watching a show about the family owned mines there! They have "White Buffalo" there too! I gather that it's coming back into popularity!!ππ

I agree okara, Keep sending them back for warranty replacement, till ML finally redesigns the coil ears! Same with the pod problems!! I've had both!! Same for the AQ, or any other detector! No matter the machine, the company is only as good as their Service Dept!! That's what we all remember, when it comes time to buy again!!ππ

Submerged Salt, Nearing 30 Hours
Joe D. replied to jimpugh's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
How about a silicone boot that can be rolled back to connect, than rolled forward to seal?? Cheap and replaceable!! Also, Plasti-Dip has a fairly low adhesion, and can be peeled off as well!! Another cheap fix, but not as pretty!ππ -

Hello Tony, and welcome! As Compass said, more info will be helpful! But there are several great detectors in your price range that are pretty much turn and go! Search the forum detector reviews! You will find, and learn a great deal! This may help you hone in on a few candidates! Also, more will chime in with suggestions! Good luck! And remember; questions are free!!ππ

I have no proof of my "find", but i think i found the location of a "known" (wasn't known to me, till later) cannon under a few feet of beach sand, close to the water! Never could see it due to the wet quicksand effect, but i had a hand on it; and it felt rounded, and about ten feet long! Or it's a large piece of cast iron pipe, and I'm not ashamed to speculate!π€£ππ
