Important Announcement From White's Electronics
Joe D. replied to snakejim's topic in White's Metal Detectors
That's good news! I'm happy for White's owners to be able to get repairs!! My concern is, god forbid; what if something happens to Todd? Is there an alternative repair spot or person's?? ππ -
Wishing My Fellow East Coasters A Safe Hurricane Event!
Joe D. replied to Joe D.'s topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
Not much erosion for us! But i expect some finds up in the Mid Eastern States to appear!ππ -
Bull sharks are of particular concern in fresh, and salt water! They have been found hundreds of miles up into freshwater river's to have their young! Which than act's as a nursery, until they make their way, eventually, to the ocean! There have been numerous attacks documented in fresh water, over hundreds of years!ππ

Yes GB, I wear UV protective, light colored, quick dry, long sleeve shirts, when i hunt! Pretty much year round! And i would do the same anywhere else, with as much sun as we get! But the high humidity here, won't let the shirts dry very much at all! For me anyway! Hence the spares! And also, skin cancer sucks!! Because it often goes unnoticed!! Just as much as the rest of the cancer's that plague us!ππ
-
I'm very efficent on the beach with a pinpointer! Not that I'm in a rush! And it depends on the type of (dry) sand your beach has to shake out! Shaking too vigorously can damage jewelry and settings, and loose gemstones! Also, good luck sifting post earrings, and micro jewelry!! They just keep falling through the holes!ππ
-
That's what plasti dip is good for! Pick your color, when it gets warn out! Peel it off, and redip!ππ
-
I learned quickly to use a lanyard! (Curly bungee type with S/S wire!) Had to backtrack 1/2 mile of beach to find mine, years ago! Killed my hunt that day! Not fun! ππ
-
Hey GB, I've been wondering about those myself! I have just begun to get into more saltwater hunting! And wondered if i needed one; and also a secondary handle, so i don't break the pod mounts! Like someone else π we know!! I'm sticking to the stock shaft for now! And I'm almost done setting up my new waterproof earbuds; not headphones! I would love input from you dedicated Nox ocean hunters!ππ
-
Didn't know you were swinging a Museum Quality detector! π€£ Isn't white cooler in the desert? It doesn't matter here, the humidity has me sweating, no matter what color i wear! I bring extra shirts!ππ Bye the way, i love the blue!!
-
Hey Digs, I'm curious why not blue in the desert?? Enlighten me please!ππ

Places To Hunt Dwindling Due To Thuggery
Joe D. replied to RobNC's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Hey Rob, I forgot to say that i hope you, and yours, stay safe with this approaching storm! We got lucky again here! It will unfortunately be in your locale shortly!!ππ -
You all are braver men then me! My former dominate hobby was fishing; Alot! I have caught most of what swim's around in the day, and night from shore; in fresh, and salt water!! No way in heππ am i going to be in the water anywhere close to dark!!! There was a very sucessful water hunter on the West Coast of Florida years ago, that did extremely well! I can't remember his name, but he was in the local newspaper! He said he had been "bumped" too many times by "large" fishπ¦π¬, to continue night hunting!! Which is what he most loved to do!πππ
-
Well, my new pod got the "Full Treatment" so to speak! I took it into the surf last week, to help try and find a lost dimond ring! No luck! But i got plenty of trash and lead sinkers! And eleven cents!! No leaks so far!!π€π€ππ

I think this is "Pinky" haunting you!π» Or ML telling you to accessorize your wardrobe more, when you post pics using their products!! Or maybe they think your a Simone, and not a Simon!! Next Prizes:ππ₯Ώ ππ€£π€ (Just kidding!!)ππ
-
I think ML should just alter their injection "recipe" to beef up the existing molds! Little cost to add some carbon fibers, or some other wonder material in the mix! And keep on top of the market! I doubt that they will ever go to the expense of creating new molds to do the job! Better to do what Chase suggested, except for the higher price part, which i feel we have already paid the premium for, in the first place! ππ

Places To Hunt Dwindling Due To Thuggery
Joe D. replied to RobNC's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Yes Sven, that's where it's headed, unfortunately! It's hard for us as individuals to counteract this! But i know that there are groups, and clubs that carry a bigger voice that may be helpful, at some point! But i also know that many of us older, (and wiser??!!) who detect, may no longer have the desire, time, or ability, to fight the good fight! And think if the pot is "stirred" that the restriction's will get much worse! I can only say that, in my opinion, that worse is already here in my area!! Except between the high and low tide area's of many beaches! Which is, no doubt, in the crosshairs, by some! I would love to see the detector companies take a more assertive role in promoting all the good things we do with their products!! Each company could create, and provide a quality video; for very little cost; for an individual to take to their municipality officials, and show what we do, and how we do it! And that there are a "few" bad actors going against what we believe is a very "low impact" hobby! And what little "disturbances" we may make, are small in comparson to the trash, and dangerous objects we dispose of! And that we are another set of "eyes and ears" for a safer Community!! We aren't asking for anything in return from anybody; but the right to enjoy a hobby, like anyone else! ππ -
Places To Hunt Dwindling Due To Thuggery
Joe D. replied to RobNC's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
As Steve, and many others have said before! "We" have done this to ourselves! And while i know this to be mostly true! I feel it is also true that we can help cut down on the offenders! By making sure the powers that be, and law enforcement, are; when necessary; notified! And made to realize that most all of us do a service in many ways! And that they should not punish us all, for the mistakes of a few bad actors! In many ways, we are some of the best "eyes and ears" of law enforcement, by being mostly lone hunters in some frequently opportune environments to witness possibly "shady" thing's going on! And reporting them!! Stay safe! And keep "plugging" away!ππ -
Places To Hunt Dwindling Due To Thuggery
Joe D. replied to RobNC's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
I'm very sad for your situation Rob!! But as dog said, don't give up!! I personally, would take it a step farther with the known "hole" offender! If I observed him in the act, i would report him, and his vehicle tag number, to the police! And a little "eye witness" phone video to prove your complaint couldn't hurt! He's giving a bad reputation for us all, and should be taken to task for it! (but not by you in person; too risky!!) The beach is somewhat harder to challange an offender, and make it stick! But parks, schools, etc.. are an absolute no-no for hole's left behind!! Even if appearing vacant, or abandoned! I'm dealing with two county's that have banned "digging", but not metal detecting! This is how the official's think they can circumvent actually banning detecting (thus legal challenges) around here! Thank's to people like this individual! And over zealous archeologists, thinking that we are all "stealing" precious pre 1970 coins, etc... (The 50 year rule!) And other "ancient artifacts" that are no longer "in situ" for preservation, and study! (Ex. Plowed farm fields, etc...)ππ -
Hello Bill, Welcome to the forum! I'm on the Florida Coast with my 800! Best of luck with yours! Hope to see some good finds from you !!ππ
