  1.  I haven't had any issues with my Galaxy phone and the Nox, but the pinpointer gives it fits, if i don't separate them well apart when in use!

I keep my phone in a waterproof case, in my back pocket! And it stays on because i have a very good lightning app. that lets me set a radius in miles to warn me of lightning within striking distance! One of the main everyday summer hazards in S. Florida! 👍👍

  2.  Congratulations Captain,

You are now well on your way to becoming a "nickelaire"!!💰   Don't spend it all in one place!😂🤣

    (Just kidding!) 👍👍

PS- put a couple more loops of the cable around the shaft, so it doesn't flop around (interference!)  Or get hung up and get damaged!👍

  3. Captain,

28 quarter's in that pile of change!! I guess that those are the "New Silvers"!!😂

We are in "strange times" detecting now! The silver's have been cheery picked all over! The easy areas have been beat to death! And we are all hanging our hats on new technology to liven up the old areas!

Now we are hunting the areas that have been avoided, due to the trash load!, difficulty in accessing!, asking permissions for private properties!, and unfortunately,  Illigal areas to detect!! And it can be more "work," or "jail time",  than fun!

I've just got to laugh, when i look at the silver coins i found with my BounterHunter 840, back in the 79- 82 era! And i kick myself for not continuing detecting from than on!

But "it is what it is" now!! And between the lack of quality finds, and the regulations against detecting (mostly our own fault)! It comes down to each individual, and the reason they detect in the first place!  For profit!?? Love of historic items!?? For relaxation!?? Thrill of the hunt!?? Excercise!?? Like minded friends!?? Or something else; or combination of them! Everyone's motivations, and geographic locations, are truly their own!

It; and old age, is weeding out those who are willing to continue detecting! I don't think that it will ever die out completely! But it is on something of a "downhill" slope in our current environment!👍👍

  4.  Welcome Mark,

Glad to have your extensive experience here with us! You will be in good company, with the few here that have an AQ so far! As well as all the other detectors! Looking forward to some posts about the AQ!

I'm going to wait for the main AQ release, before i consider pulling the trigger! I still have plenty to learn with my Knox 800!

    Good Hunting!👍👍

  5. Captain,

I feel your frustration!🤬, but the junk goes with the territory! Especially with lower conductor's! I dug almost $9 dollars in change today in a 4 hour split hunt, at two different locations! No silver or gold anything today, but I'm happy with my clad count! I'm more or less, on your same level with the Knox, I think!  The low conductors can wear you out digging! But are often the most rewarding! But my hearing just naturally goes to quarters, dimes, (and freaking pennies) for some reason! I have no problem finding those! But nickels are in a tough area (13ish), and gold is all over the map depending on size and depth, etc.. And so is alot of junk! The nuances between them can be a blur!  If i lived in an area that was old enough to have a decent amount of silvers, i think i would clean up! But i take what i can get! Anyway, i digress!

I would say, dig the lower conductors when you are fresh in a hunt (and the trash)!  When you get frazzled, or worn out, just hit the easy high conductors for awhile to give yourself a break! The clad adds up, and you may get a silver coin, or ring while you are relaxing a bit!

That's all i got man! The Master's will further try and steer us in the right direction, I'm sure! In the meantime, keep up the good fight! And enjoy the ride!👍👍

(Just some of the trash, sight finds, and coins! I like the cool lead moon guy!)

  6.    Great information about yourself! Thanks! Sorry findmall shut down, with your posts! But you found your way here! Their loss is our gain! Steve's a great host, and i think you will feel right at home here!

    Good hunting, and welcome again!👍👍

  7. It could be the humidity, combined with with heat! Maybe the differential of taking it from A/C inside my house to outdoors! Sort of like the way my glasses fog up when i go outside! I did check the battery compartment for moisture after cleaning, but did not find any!

I Don't know! Unless ML will tell me what Er 41 is! I will email them and ask! I just figured they would just say send it in for a check!👍👍

  8.  Hey Steve,

I am just about finished with making my own counterweight!  It's an old brass hose nozzle i dug up last year!  With a solid steel drawer pull, and steel insert! Weights in right at 13oz.!  And moved the center of gravity back about 6 inches on the Nox! Feel's great! All i have left to do is wrap it with grip tape or paracord! 👍👍

    Update: Done!👍👍

  9.    Hey Tom,

       Thanks for asking!

I went over it from top to bottom, after i got home and cleaned it up from the beach that day! I used it again last week in a fresh water hunt, and had no issues! I'm still of the opinion that it was a heat issue, but as of yet, i have no proof!  I plan on duplicating the conditions soon to see if it is repeatable! Than i will contact ML to send it back for a checkup!

I've been reading so much good Nox info on the forum lately, that I'm "chomping at the bit" to hunt some more; even with this miserable heat here in SF!  But i will update here, if i find out anymore!👍👍

  10. Hey Cap,

You are obviously well into the Knox, and are asking some great questions for all of us still learning it's nuances! Listen well to the pro's here, and keep the adjustments to a minimum! The program's in the Knox are solid, and the majority of the time, they work great!  Sometimes i mess with one of the presets accidentally in bright sunlight, and have to do a reset to get it back to normal! A test garden; or even air testing in the A/C is mostly where i play with the custom stuff! (A/C for now, too hot, and too many mosquitoes to experiment outside!)   But my actual hunting time is rather limited due to family obligations, so i only make limited adjustments in the field!

Now, that is just my opinion!! No reflection on your's! Keep asking questions! I love to hear both them, and the responses!👍👍

  11.     Yes Sir,

Family first! Money and toys are down the list! Woodworking is an underappreciated art! Hope the family treasures it for a very long time! Send me a (pm), or us some pics, when you are done! If you don't mind!👍👍

  12.     I'm of the opinion it came with a hairline crack, and just finished off with normal handling! No fault on either end really! Bad for you today, but good info for the other 99 Limited buyers tomorrow! We knew the Limited would have a delicate rear end! But wow!  Good news is, no one with an AQ is probably going to beat you to your intended spot!💍💍👍👍

  13.    I would think with that kind of "custom" made canoe, an aficionado would pay "big bucks" for it!! I'm sure you know what they are worth! Than you could buy a nice "Old Town Canoe", another detector, and still have cash left!🛶💰 Just a layman's opinion!👍👍(Your's is seriously too nice to beat around in!)

    Well Steve,

With most people, they would be told to get a bigger plate! But in your case.........

    Ex: Steve's plate now; 🌏                                                    Steve's projected plate**;  🍽

**Disclaimer: Future projections are not an indicator of future results!👍👍
